The piece you are suppose to take off per the manual is the one in between the copper fins, as he did. However by that sound he didn't remove the plastic bottom plate as the manual tells you to install. At zal's website it updates this to tell you not to install it, because a lot of people had this problem.

Inside the instructions it tells you to add the plastic bracket on bottom, but they have updated this info on the website and instructional video. Per website and video it does not have you include the plastic mounting plate. That is the cause of your noise.
