not all traditional martial arts suck...just most of them...it's funny the more real a karate style is...daido juku is an offshoot of mas oyama's kyokushin...the more the matches start to look like boxing/kickboxing/mma - just saying....these fights don't look like tae kwon do point sparring...real fights don't have flying side kicks and horse stances...all the traditional martial arts that don't suck have a tournament where the goal is to hurt your opponent not playing a game of tag
@HK91PTR Thats actually what I've been telling people. TMA isn't bad. Modern TMA is bad. TMA used to be shit people killed each other with all the time. The other thing was, people used to train a lot more then they do now.
@HK91PTR Traditional taekwondo is ITF. Where I learn strong kicks, punches(straight, hooks, uppercuts), ground fighting(there not on high level), locks, strangling, blocks(Knees and elbows I learn alone(easily)). We have punches to the face in sport fighting but semi-contact. The full-contact sparring is on seminars with masters(just for blackbelts) and there is no competition.
I just wanted to say "some matrial arts may look ridiculous beacouse the real form can be easily forgotten".
No offense but this look really pratical compare to a lot of styles that don't allow punches to the face. Those style of Karate eventhough fun to watch as a sport but as far as self defense is concern...no punch to the face???
Anybody who's saying Kudo is better than MMA (Or vice versa) is retarded.
The two rulesets are too closely related to warrant negative comparisons. Kudo seems like an excellent venue for a fighter to compete in before he makes his professional MMA debut. Kudo also has it's own appeal by allowing headbutts and groin strikes in certain matches.
@ThePinkMan the headbuts and groin strikes are one thing but I think forcing people to compete in a gi is good. Unless you live in an area warm enough to warrant wearing only shorts year round I have to assume that you will at some point wear real people clothes and I think training people to use opportunities presented by the clothing in combat is much better as far as practical application. So from a non-sportive perspective I think this is better.

Is Daido Juku the Kara-Te system's name or the tournament? I htought I knew all the major schools. This is liek Kyokushinkai meets freaking BJJ. This is awesome and all round.
@bigtimepimpin666 The kudo rules was actually developed by Takashi Azuma for kyokushin, on order from Masutatsu Oyama -the founder of kyokushin. But Azuma took too long to do it, and when they were ready the knockdown rules had taken off and become too rooted, so Oyama decided to stay with them.
Azuma then asked for permission to found his own style and use the rules there. He got the permission and blessing from Oyama, and left to found daido juku. (with the blessings kyokushin organizations)
por favor qual o nome dessa música e qual a banda que toca, agradeço desde já> Muito legal esse vídeo, fiquei conhecendo o daido juku através deste, PARABÉNS. OSSSSSSSSSS !!!!

See how much better MMA is when you remove the element of continuing to beat someone who is obviously down and out. When you take away the allowance of beating a defeated foe until a pool of blood forms under him, MMA truly becomes a high form of martial art.
if you know karate as a martial art in depth will know that they do nothing new and that karate provides all such techniques. that people do not use them because they are not allowed in contests does not mean that none exist.
Now make certain to note how Karate HAS CLINCH KNEES, and that the way Mauy Thai uses them is really the only core way they are used in other styles independently developed. We have them in Shotokan and TKD as well as Kyokushin. :D
This is an interesting and dynamic style. The only thing I'd say is that they don't seem to block head attacks enough and seem to rely too much on their headgear, but with that speed and power, maybe a quick counterattack is the best defense.
@jkaki00 : It is not that they rely on their headgear, but that action always beat reaction and there is no time to "block". You may cover your head as ain a tight boxing guard, but since you are not using boxing gloves, that is not effective.
@malasangre Except that even taking into account reaction difficulties, and the 35 mph of a punch, you still only have 1/10th of the distance to move, 'traditional' blocks, as opposed to turtling, DO work, they were taught in British bare knuckle boxing, so it isn't just an Asian thing, they are difficult to learn how to do, sure, and they require effective use of movement, but they do work.
@Hankthejollyspoon : The problems for traditional blocks start when the opponent does not follow any fighting rule and, therefore, distance, speed, power, targeting, angle of attack, trajectory of the strike being block, etc, all become a bloody mess. Just think of a crack adict throwing punches without pause, inmune to pain... At that moment, traditional blocks work only if they are used in a non traditional way.
he doesn't watch the whole clip closely, and any other martial art competition, the person who just gave a knoch out, would go and show the jury and/or audience how he would finish him off. in this case brutal, yes.
@MMAdekimono : be careful not to confuse a sport with a martial arts. WKF kumite, kyokushin bous and kudo fights are not martial arts... They are bouts with different rules of engagement, and nothing more.
@malasangre Get what you think is a martial art and face the daido juku know very well ... the shit that you defende.são classic fantasy and not applicable in real fight .. shut up your child
@MMAdekimono: I am not defending anything. I am only pointing out that people fight exactly as they train, and if you go to competitions, you must use their rules of engagement, therefore, you are a sport player, not a martial artist, regardless the school you belong to. In other words, neither TKD, nor WKF kumite, nor kyokushin, nor daidojuku tournaments are what you call "real fights". In fact, you will never see in tournaments people who train for "real fights".
@malasangre oh course not coming here to defend anything, you coming here to criticize, for jealousy. I saw your profile you're kind of child who believes in some Gojuryu classical kata, bunkai and their bullshit. somebody trainning kata kihon bunkai classic, this is not real
@MMAdekimono: too bad you assume I am a jealous child. I have no time to keep talking to you and this thread is not the best place to do it, but I can recommend a book from someone who does know what "real fight" means: Buy: "Meditations on Violence: A Comparison of Martial Arts Training & Real World Violence" by Rory Miller (Aug 25, 2008). Probably the best book on this topic in the last 10 years. Good luck.
These guys would not have a chance in MMA. No wrestling, bad BJJ. Decent clinchwork though. Also they dont seem to mind getting hit in the head too much.
sigh...i know he was a kyokushin karate guy, but before k1 he didnt know how to box, he got knocked out in like 10 seconds in his first k1 match, then learnt how to box and was really succesfull
@opencasket57 Actually, Andy Hug won his 3 (4 if you count the special, karate rules, fight vs Kakuda) first K-1 fights. Then he lost to Patric smith in his next fight (after 20 seconds). He avenged that loss immediately, defeating Smith in 57 seconds, and won 2 more fights before losing again
So where did you get the info that Hug struggled in this early fights and got knocked out after 10 seconds in his first one?
If you pit fighter against fighter and look at which martial artists win the most, it pretty much is (the jesus of martial arts). This ofcourse results of it taking the best, most effective parts of all martial arts (hence the word "mixed").
@menomies you may have a slight point, but since most fights in the streets involve people who have on clothing, kudo would do better in real life situations. Also, when MMA fighters are wearing headgear they also get hit more. the gear gives a false sense of security. That changes somewhat when the headgear comes off.
Wow, I heard that Daido Juku is incorporate various techniques from muay tai, boxing, Jujutsu, sambo, submission wrestling, judo and of course Kyoukushin karate. This is full contact karate style that can beat any other fighting style.
i dont know why.. but this form/style of karate seems to be the 'best' .. or lets say, most balanced style? in kyokushin they dont hit the head, only with the foot.
I would absolutely LOVE being able to practice this, as I find the lack of head punches in kyokushin (which I practice, of course) an absolutely crippling weakness.
Yes, I do too, but I noticed I tend to absolutely disregard my head when sparring.
It would be easily fixed if you could just slap some gloves on and practice a bit, but most teachers are way to rigid to be talked into it (at least my shihan is xD)
Dude, sports kyokushin doesn't allow punches to the head, because Oyama though that there is no point in injuring ourselves. But defensive karate allows punches/kicks to all the parts of the body. It's both very practical and effective if you do it right. The actions in defensive kyokushin are lethal.
By the way most kyokushin students don't go to boxing and Andy Hug never trained boxing... He mostly trained kyokushin karate!
andy hug did eventually make K1 his main priority. His first gp in 94 he got knocked out in like 10 seconds but ended up winning it in 96, he actually ended up being a really good boxer
the unfortunate thing about mma is that it attracts so many idiots... people who just want to fight, or to see fights, and have no actual respect for martial arts
Man, they do Headbutts, which is unauthorized in classic MMA, plus Daido Juku was created during the 80's, wereas MMA in the 90's. This sport inspired actual MMA. Respect to Daido Juku 4 life.
mma spawnd from the gracies organising ufc 1 to prove the effectiveness of bjj, and with the open stage for combat the mma u see today is just the result of a hybrid being effective, dont make brash clames
@piggypoo of course this is a highlight... so the best ko stuff. You can find just normal matches without any of them going ko. Also, it is more difficult to defend as there is more stuff allowed.
yes i agree with you that kudo is a combination of kyokushin karate and judo ;) but there are some elements from muay thai as well :) I mean there are elbowes and a lot of knees :D:D!!
I train kudo in germany :) and i think its the coolest sport ever ;)

By the way most kyokushin students don't go to boxing and Andy Hug never trained boxing... He mostly trained kyokushin karate!

@RomeoSOF2
andy hug did eventually make K1 his main priority. His first gp in 94 he got knocked out in like 10 seconds but ended up winning it in 96, he actually ended up being a really good boxer
opencasket57 1 year ago
@opencasket57 He was never a boxer, and when he fought in K1, his base was kyokushin karate.

the unfortunate thing about mma is that it attracts so many idiots... people who just want to fight, or to see fights, and have no actual respect for martial arts

Man, they do Headbutts, which is unauthorized in classic MMA, plus Daido Juku was created during the 80's, wereas MMA in the 90's. This sport inspired actual MMA. Respect to Daido Juku 4 life.
tchernomano2602 1 year ago
@tchernomano2602 this sport did not inspire mma
mma spawnd from the gracies organising ufc 1 to prove the effectiveness of bjj, and with the open stage for combat the mma u see today is just the result of a hybrid being effective, dont make brash clames
jonny232323232323 1 year ago
is it me, or do these guys lack the toughness that mma fighters do? someone correct me or agree with me.
piggypoo 1 year ago
@piggypoo naa, the other way around.
Kicks to the groin, hand techniques to the groin, headbutts...
mma fighters probably think it is too scary to even join...
like modern mma is nothing compared in brutalness to PRIDE
karatespidey 1 year ago
@karatespidey
no no, I mean that karate fighters usually fall with one blow? or is it that the blows are just more lethal in karate, i.e. more efficient?
piggypoo 1 year ago
@piggypoo of course this is a highlight... so the best ko stuff. You can find just normal matches without any of them going ko. Also, it is more difficult to defend as there is more stuff allowed.

tvektesnem 2 years ago
