Theirs a Marshell JTM 60 at my local pawn i played through it and it sounded real good the price tag on it saids $250 but one of the workers said he'll let me have it for $220 it's kind of best up a little the vinyl is dirty an faded put some vinyl cleaner and it well look good some of the vinyl coming off and the handle needs to be replaced. How does it sound at low volume.
MAGGARA MARINE----- UR RIGHT, THAT WAS AN UNNECESSARY REPLY TO MY COMMENTS.... WHY DID U BOTHER TO SEND IT? UR COMMENT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY COMMENT! I WAS SIMPLY POINTING OUT, THAT NO ONE WILL GET THAT "SLASH TONE" WITH ANY JTM AMP! THATS IT.........
Nice demo. Finally somone who knows how to let the clean tube compression squeeze out of a good amp in a demo. I used to work in a service dept. and was surprised at how great these are. Great playing-what you feel, how you feel-like guitar should be. Don't listen to these wanks below, they detect you are a W-male beyond the age of 27 so technically you are illegally breathing the air. You also play guitar (still) and you weigh less than 250#'s. You are actually an illegal human being.
no. you aren't going to get the same tone as a Marshall AFD head. The JTM 60 does clean well (for a marshall) and it does a good late 70s / early 80s gain tone (think AC/DC Highway to Hell). This demo gives you an example of how much gain you are going to get. Great amp, but you're going to get vintage, not modern tones. Go with a DSL 50 if you want modern tones for a similar price.
Hello I have the same type jtm 60 marshall a beautiful amp I've madea change with a fan in suction applied to the grid of the valve is now working well and no more heats are very happy with this amp excellent voice hello !!!!!
my comments to 63 gold top cont'd --- from marshall, or the marshall buying public said, hey, this doesnt sound like a marshall...... and they stopped making it. if u really want that marshall sound? U HAVE TO GET ANOTHER MARSHALL~ any other marshall! tube or transtube.. they all sound like "marshalls"..... except the jtm models... seriously, go to any music store, bring ur guitar and plug into any other marshall and get back to me...... ( and hey! every one, check out MY VIDEO. ~ vincent
@publicservant2009 This comment may be unnecessary but Transtube is Peavey's technology to make solid state amps sound more like tube amps. The thing you are talking about is a hybrid (it has a tube in its preamp, Transtubes are pure solid state) and Marshalls call them "Valvestates". Just wanted to point out.
Hey everyone.... this comment is for 63 gold top.... ofcourse ur amp is not going to sound like "slash's sound".. only because this amp doesnt sound like the rest of the marshall collection... i am telling u even if u played a lower cost marshall avt 50 or a 100, or even a vs 50 or 100 ( and their transtubes) u will sound almost identical to slash's sound... this amp was either a beautiful mistake? or an attempt to do something realllly ( not marshall) different! and then someone
This guy is deffeinately using a pedal or the amp had been modded.I have the same amp and it DOES not sound that way..Im not into the Death bash your eyeballs out metal but im into the slash sound and I was upsert when I found the amp didnt even get close, its more like a Bluesy jazzy amp.But Im using a cheap boss pedal and its a lil better so Im hoping with a better pedal it should do the trick...
@cpkelley Oh, so it's 50 watts? What's is the "60" in JTM-60 about? I guess my Marshall related naivety is showing. I've been an EL-84 guy for most of my adult life, so AC-15's, my 18 watt, and my Peavey classic 30 have been mainstays in my particularly raw brand of punk rock, but in recent years I've been exploring other options....everything from single-ended triode amps for a smoother crunch to high-gain 6l6 amps for "heavy" palm-muted rhythm guitar tones, to "british" crunch. Great demo BTW.
@AdamRainStopper The 60 is for 60 watts. I had one of these until I got sick of trying to solve the overheating problems (note: despite what everyone says the fan trick won't cut it in the long run). I ditched this and picked up a 70's Music Man Sixty-Five. Now I only play Leo Fender designed amps and Kay/Harmony/Silvertone related goods. They only made this Marshall for 2 years...and there is a reason. Bad design.
@cpkelley 60 watts off a PAIR of EL34's? No wonder it overheats. That's a bit of a push for a pair. I guess if they can get 120 outof a quad, it's doable, but it will eat tubes that way too.
Great job showing both the clean and crunch tonality of this amp. I have the JTM-600 head with matching 4x10 cabinet. I've played other Marshalls and also own a Mesa-Boogie MarkV that get good sounds in very narrow ranges. These JTMs have a wide linear range of good sounds with Strats or Les Paul style guitars. They do tend to be, ahem, "finicky" with the fuses in the power supply and some have heat problems. However, they really are a phenominal sounding amp, as your demo illustrates.
very nice demo, this amp is one of the best in history, very underrated. I had a rivera clubster, Mesa Stiletto and a few mid range fenders. This amp is better for any kind of use. Takes overdrive and effects pedals very very well and you can play anything from 1950's to 2010 if you have the right guitar and now how to use it. I must add this marshall sounds fine even with 50's strats.
What pickups are on that custom Strat copy you play quite open??? Great tonal quality....I would greatly appreciate if you wouldn't mind telling me which single coils you have on that guitar & what humbucker as well.
How well does the amp interact with the use of the guitars volume and tone controls? Does gain channel clean up well when guitars volume is rolled backed?
@herrdeen i am looking at one in the detroit craigslist for 400.... you have to due all your guitar shoping there! i do, its gotin me tons of cheap gear that I couldnt afford any other way
