Romanian troops should be where the country needs them. Today's war is to be beared thousands kilometers away from your home, in order to prevent it being beared on your street. Keep the soldiers with their "loved ones" all their career and they will end up shooting eachother like in '89, due to the lack of experience. And as NATO members we have obligations too, not only rights. No, the romanian soldiers are where they are supposed to be.

:)) There is a small comunity of turkish and arab people, but it's a very small percent. And as far as hungarians are concerned... you have to know that Romania is divided in 40 districts, each with the same level of what we call "local autonomy". Hungarians here have never asked for separation or independence (it is clear even for them that the 2 or 3 districts where they form the majority cannot exist as a separate entity). What they ask for is a higher level of local autonomy
yeah... i can imagine... here in slovakia we also have a pack of idiots calling for territorial autonomy (but their goal isn't really that... and we know it)... so when they started to collect signatures for their petition they got almost nothing... on the first day 13... and up to now maybe 10 times more (there is 520 000 hungarians in slovakia)... it is strange that mainly hungarians from hungary call for revisions...
If you check out the constitutions of more developed and civilized countries, like Greece, France, Italy, Germany, you will see that (unlike in the Romanian constitution) there is no concept of "minority" there - and God knows there are plenty of such minorities in each one of them. There is only one concept which is being considered: "citizenship". As long as you are citizen of our country and you respect it's laws there is no reason to feel insecure or disrespected.
Of course it was an disgraceful incident but i was talking about the policy of the state regarding the minorities not about individuals. If you go to a hockey game in Miercurea Ciuc wearring a Steaua T-shirt, be sure you will end up the same. Let's not make an international incident out of it, like the kid was just about to do. He called the press before complaining to the police, come on ! I'm not saying it's normal, i'm saying it's a consequensequence of bad education not of the state policy.
However, your hungarian fellows in Slovakia can learn from their fellow hungarians in Romania. In order to be able to form the PCM (Magyar Civic Party), which is the 2nd political magyar organization in Romania (the 1st one was founded in 1990) they put the signatures of people who never signed anything in fact, and even put the names of dead people on the lists to achieve the minimum legal number of signitures. I'm not joking, it's a fact, I can show you the articles in the press.

I just would like to say, I met lot of Romanians in France... We went hang around, or even (as I was invited) to their church (lot of them were adventists)... even with a historian among them... we spoke about our national histories and came to the conclusion that both contain 50% inventions and half-truth. In my opinion, history is good to remind us the mistakes we did and to avoid us to do them again. But history is not good to live in it.

:)) There is a small comunity of turkish and arab people, but it's a very small percent. And as far as hungarians are concerned... you have to know that Romania is divided in 40 districts, each with the same level of what we call "local autonomy". Hungarians here have never asked for separation or independence (it is clear even for them that the 2 or 3 districts where they form the majority cannot exist as a separate entity). What they ask for is a higher level of local autonomy

yeah... i can imagine... here in slovakia we also have a pack of idiots calling for territorial autonomy (but their goal isn't really that... and we know it)... so when they started to collect signatures for their petition they got almost nothing... on the first day 13... and up to now maybe 10 times more (there is 520 000 hungarians in slovakia)... it is strange that mainly hungarians from hungary call for revisions...

If you check out the constitutions of more developed and civilized countries, like Greece, France, Italy, Germany, you will see that (unlike in the Romanian constitution) there is no concept of "minority" there - and God knows there are plenty of such minorities in each one of them. There is only one concept which is being considered: "citizenship". As long as you are citizen of our country and you respect it's laws there is no reason to feel insecure or disrespected.

However, your hungarian fellows in Slovakia can learn from their fellow hungarians in Romania. In order to be able to form the PCM (Magyar Civic Party), which is the 2nd political magyar organization in Romania (the 1st one was founded in 1990) they put the signatures of people who never signed anything in fact, and even put the names of dead people on the lists to achieve the minimum legal number of signitures. I'm not joking, it's a fact, I can show you the articles in the press.

based on ethnical criteria, which our constitution forbids. Of course there are extremists too, but not so many. The romanians and hungarians always had a pretty troubled historical background when it comes to politics, but down on the street there has never been a notable tension between the 2 groups, on the contrary. That's why I think it's not the case to make a comparison between Romania and Kosovo, at least for now and the near future.

I just would like to say, I met lot of Romanians in France... We went hang around, or even (as I was invited) to their church (lot of them were adventists)... even with a historian among them... we spoke about our national histories and came to the conclusion that both contain 50% inventions and half-truth. In my opinion, history is good to remind us the mistakes we did and to avoid us to do them again. But history is not good to live in it.
