@spencert94 Yes, it has 50% more carcinogens, but doesn't cause cancer. Marijuana is hypothesized to be able to kill cancer, not completely tested or proven yet though. On your other statistic about tar, it doesn't really matter. You smoke less tar with weed than with cigarettes because of the quantities. If you smoke out of a vaporizer then there is no tar at all. Not to mention the chemicals put into cigarettes. Alcohol kills brain cells, weed encourages brain cell growth. Enough said.

Not to mention a big portion of weed cost comes because growing it is illegal, so people can't do crazy volume. 2. Quality. Apply the same principle to this. Not to mention, you'd have professional botanists working for Export 'A' and other tobacco plants working to compete illegal sales.

@mcsalty09 Not necessarily, my experience is different every single time. But I think its dangerous for the reason that some people might build up a mental dependence. Its easy to not smoke if you have a good reason not to, but if you don't really have much of a reason, I'd say it isn't as easy.

@chaldofood36 I'm not really talking about the short term sedative effect weed has on most people or about freaking out in general. Lots of people smoke weed for years and they are more or less fine. If you have the wrong kind of mental tendencies it's not a good drug at all. Many people with schizoid tendencies for example are unlucky and develop full blown schizophrenia using any mind altering substance for a long period of time.

Weed would never be anywhere close to as expensive as it is now if it were to be legalized. The price is regulated by an underground market that has to go through a lot more trouble to make it available than one that doesn't have to avoid legal consequence, therefore raising the price. Weed is a weed, it can be grown in vast quantities. If the government gave the okay for farms to be set up, supply would go up and demand would go down, drastically lowering prices.

@mcsalty09 Not necessarily, my experience is different every single time. But I think its dangerous for the reason that some people might build up a mental dependence. Its easy to not smoke if you have a good reason not to, but if you don't really have much of a reason, I'd say it isn't as easy.

@chaldofood36 I'm not really talking about the short term sedative effect weed has on most people or about freaking out in general. Lots of people smoke weed for years and they are more or less fine. If you have the wrong kind of mental tendencies it's not a good drug at all. Many people with schizoid tendencies for example are unlucky and develop full blown schizophrenia using any mind altering substance for a long period of time.

the one thing we need to be careful about if it does become legalized is mass production . I fear this so much when I think about how negative the results would be. Compared to other stuff like crack, heroin, meth etc, weed is not harmful. I equate it to alcohol. Some do it alot (addicts- let's be honest weed=drug=>possible addiction). But most know their limit. The main difference- stoners don't want to/can't move while alcoholics want to move alot, talk alot, drive alot. The main drawback to weed being legal is that obesity would freakin skyrocket. lol.

Now, you CAN say "weed is not as harmful as these other drugs" and that's well and good. But to say that it is NOT harmful because other items are MORE harmful is a fallacy. A parallel argument would be to say that firearms don't kill people because tactical nuclear ordnance kills more people.

Weed would never be anywhere close to as expensive as it is now if it were to be legalized. The price is regulated by an underground market that has to go through a lot more trouble to make it available than one that doesn't have to avoid legal consequence, therefore raising the price. Weed is a weed, it can be grown in vast quantities. If the government gave the okay for farms to be set up, supply would go up and demand would go down, drastically lowering prices.
