As a car driver married to a cyclist, I'm sympathetic to the plight of this cyclist. If drivers had the chance to actually ride a bike on today's roads, they might be a little more sympathetic.

Re comments from a year ago saying that when cycling through a carpark the cyclist should WAIT for the car driver to reverse that is beyond laughable! The car shouldn't reverse at all if there is ANYTHING coming - car, cyclist or pedestrian - nor turn into a junction right of way or not IF IT ISN'T SAFE

My dad is a cyclist and was 1 block away from home when a car comes out of the post office and hits him. it was quite sad as the driver didn't get a ticket of any kind when it was obviously failure to yield. His helmet totally cracked but thank goodness he was alright. Try being a cyclist in the country its ridiculous all the F-350 and their huge trucks try to run you fucking over.

In about half of my own incidents, when I reflect on them afterwards, I consider that I could have done something differently to avoid it. The problem is that it's always in the line of 'I should have given way even if I was in my right'. Considering I never run a red (even for ped lights) and actually obey stopsigns, it's a shame that when I have the priority, I have to condition myself to give in to the cars.

I don't mind cyclists, but I do think they should have to obey the traffic laws just like a vehicle does - most prominently, stopping at red lights and stop signs and not just blazing through them like this idiot apparently did. And if they do, then it's their own fault if they get hit.

I wish I had my Tachyon XC micro on my helmet the other day when some Gutter Bunny (cyclist) blew a stop sign and almost t-boned me on my motorcycle. The gutter bunnies here where I live DO NOT follow the laws as most motorists. Most cyclists run lights, stop signs and do not yeild. They are arrogant! The camera does rock though!

I don't think this tape is the best example, but I do think that drivers can be arrogant and disrespectful sometimes towards us cyclists, but most of the time my journeys go smoothly and to be honest whether you're driving, cycling or even walking, if you tape yourself for a year you're gonna get some sort of problems that you can pin the blame on others.

actually, there is an entire section of rules and guidelines in road test books about cyclists and pedestrians. Have you ever heard the term "share the road"? cyclists have just as much right to be on the road as a car does. And i'm sorry if you don't feel like giving up your "right of way" and stop for 5 seconds to let a bicycle pass by, guess what? you have to, because its the rules.

the worst is when you are going fast on a normal road and a car passes you and then turns right. They think you aren't going fast enough to catch up to their fancy car, but in reality they just pulled in front of you.

i propose that in order to get your driver's license you have to commute for 1 year on a bicycle.

He cuts across spaces in the parking lot, comes out from behind a car and appears out of nowhere and is surprised he isn't seen? As for the part at the intersection, his camera didn't show the traffic lights so you don't know who was at fault. Did the car run the light or did the bike? You can't tell. And if the pickup "ran Ray right off the road", how come he never actually leaves the road in the tape? The tape makes Ray look worse than any of the car drivers.

yes, but you can't stop in the middle of the road and look both ways. The car obviously ran the red light and continued to drive even after he hit the cyclist. That's hit and run, which is a serious crime.

This cyclist is a joke. 2nd clip shows that he was the cause of all those incidents. Cutting through parking lots at high speeds. If a car reverses out then stop and wait for him like other motorists. Follow the proper paths laid out for everyone and cars wont hit you!

1st clip - he was booting it pretty good through that intersection... the first thing they teach you at a bike rodeo when you're 5 is to STOP at all intersections and look both ways....

2nd clip - it was pretty crappy weather out... he should have given that car waaaaay more room... you have to share the road, and it seems that neither drivers or cyclists are willing to give in... they both think they're in the right. If both drivers and cyclists drive safe, this doesn't happen.
