Bioshock Running On Linux (Gentoo) With Cedega (HD)

I got this game working in Wine on another Linux-PC, it worked KINDA well... I had the red smoke bug and the sound was weird. :S

I have played the game in windows vista but I've just moved back to kubuntu after beginning to hate windows 7.

It's such a dumming down experience. I might play the game again so I was curious.  Thank you. Brilliant game...

I've been using windows 7 but I'm missing kubuntu - windows is such an unlikeable OS.

I don't even want to create dual boot...just want to use linux on its own.

Can you manage to load without cedega?

The game can be played in wine but there are issues. Some of the issues are graphical and there are other issues as well. Look at the wine app database for details. You might find the experience playing this game in wine is acceptable for you. The game pretty much works flawlessly in cedega and it is a certified title so official support is available.

@mwoodj i heard cedage was complex to install unless you had 15 bucks to spend, and wine actually looked better, but cedage had better sound, explain NAO. also what games are compatible with cedage that arent with wine, i wanna know :/

@MrNicktheparakeet Some of that is incorrect. With most supported directx-based games cedega provides better performance and more graphics options. With opengl cedega and wine tend to be about equal. Cedega, as a commercial product, is coming to an end. Take a look at gametreelinux (dot com) to see what is in the works for the cedega technology. It appears that it will become free to anyone who registers. At this time the cedega website no longer allows people to sign up for membership.
