  • I'm the only one that watched this and was more worried about how he was going to clean the wax off the carpet.... D:

  • @JamesTomChloeJane lol, it wasn't a carpet, the floor is solid stone :-)

  • Lucky! when i asked my Bio teacher for some ammonium nitrate she freaked!

  • inhale the pure oxygen you'll get a mad rush.

  • if you watch my video to the end you´ll find out that i actually DID that ;-)

  • @sciencoking When you inhale pure oxygen do you still have to exhale?

  • @SonsoftheProphets Yes, you still produce CO2, and your lungs force you to breathe before all the oxygen is used up anyway.

  • @SonsoftheProphets yes because the body puts the oxygen in the blood stream and co2 come out

  • pretty much anyplace that sells compressed gases will sell it to anyone. I doubt that it is expensive since it is extracted from air.

  • ya. Actually the gas canister and the valve are 10 times as expensive as the gas itself!

that goes for an gas except the noble gases and other expensive ines.

  • Dieses Lied!!! Übler Orwurm x.x

  • Interesting vid and one of the best version's of Kraftwerk's Man-Machine I've heard yet - nice job!

  • da bufa beim "transport" war ja eh da beschte^^

"Was isch da in dem Luftballon?"

    "Sauerstoff."

"Du, in dem Bus gilt generelles Sauerstoffverbot!"

    xD

  • jaja dennis ich sag nur Chlor oder wasserstoff,...^^ xD

  • des isch sauerstoff du boon ^_^

  • the easiest way to get oxygen is by heating potassium chlorate until decomposition. another method is to electrolyze water.

  • i used the quite cooperative reaction of my biology teacher :P

  • nice!

  • Wow, held your breath for 3 minutes? Dont think I could possibly do that. So does oxygen make you 'sick' if you just breath it normally, or did it have something to do with the fact that you held your breath so long? I ask because where I work some people have to breath with oxygen tanks, and I wonder why they dont get sick. Thank you for your time.

  • actually it´s not good for your lungs to breathe pure oxygen, because it´s quite a reactive gas, soit´s better with all the nitrogen inbetween. but my problem was that the CO2 concentration in my blood was quite high when i continued breathing, so my blood became a bit sour. To balance this, my body added alkaline stuff to the blood. Then I breathed the co2 out and the alkaline stuff was still in the blood. And that alkalose did what I described.

  • When you breathe oxygen like normal air, there shouldn´t be any problem. The reason why i didn´t try that myself was that I had only this balloon of oxyen...

  • hm... i think i saw that on brainiac.. or wait.. no that was liquid oxygen xD anyways.. where do you get that stuff?

  • yep, brainiac did some stuff with liquid O2. The normal way they get pure oxygen is liquefying air. First, Hydrogen, CO2, most of the noble gases and other inpurities condense. Then, at about -185°C the oxygen does. Finally, at -196°C, you get the nitrogen. What you´re left with is helium and neon. (that is also the usual way of getting neon).

Another way is putting a test tube in liquid nitrogen and wait some time. Oxygen has a higher boiling point... This will continue in my second comment.

  • ... than nitrogen. So it condenses at the inside of the test tube. Then you warm it up again and you have pure oxygen.

But the easiest and in small scales cheapest way is heating up an oxidator like potassium nitrate. The nitrate ion releases the oxygen at about 400°C. You can do the same thing with potassium chlorate. The chlorate ion decays at even lower temperatures. The problem with this is that it also releases some chlorine.

  • But if you just wanna know where i got the balloon... i asked my biology teacher who is quite friendly :-) After some trouble with the bus driver i also managed to get it home without breaking it :D

  • I don't find it how it's so difficult for you to find pure oxygen. I buy my MAPP Torch Set with Pure Oxygen for welding etc.

Also decomposing and oxidizer like KNO3 can not only generate chlorine but it can generate nitrous dioxide fumes which can be even more of a hazard then chlorine itself.

Electrolysis of H2O would give you a clean source of pure oxygen and not to mention 2x more hydrogen. Electrolysis of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) can be done but be careful as H2O2 over 30% is hazardous.

  • uh.. o.o ok.. now you started me xD chlorine... do you know where i can get chlorine that isnt liquid but powder..? i wanna try chlorine and break fluid >XD but i cant find anywhere to get it.. i can only get liquid.. :(

  • chlorine!? chlorine is a gas!

you may try calcium hypochlorite which is used to keep swimming pools clean.

i don´t know how its called in English, in German it´s called Chlorkalk....

  • Most household bleaches have an active ingredient Sodium Hypochlorite, in a 6% concentration.

Swimming pool stores have muriatic acid, which is a concentrated Hydrochloric acid.

When you mix the two, you release chlorine, a green, pungent gas.

Be careful, chlorine is VERY toxic!

  • oh yea i know that q: most people think you make chlorine with ammonia and bleach :D you doesnt, you make Hydrazine.. but if you use HCL you make chlorine GAS but i want the solid chlorine q:

  • dude, there is no solid chlorine (at room temp.).

What you mean is a hypochlorite salt, but you want chlorine, don´t you?

Get some manganese dioxide from Carbon_Zinc-batteries and muriatic acid. Mix them and you get chlorine.

Hypochlorite can be obtained by bubbling chlorine gas through an alkaline solution (lye does a good job)

  • or just boiling some sodium hypochlorite down.. gonna try to make KClO3 some day when i buy KCl ^^ i know that sodium hypochlorite is a liquid.. in denmark its sold as ''klorin'' translated into ''chlorine'' the same as ''salpeter'' or ''salt'' saltpeter is a nitrate, therefore the most common used was potassium nitrate.. salt.. the most common is sodium chloride (=

  • sodium hypochlorite is solid.

Like quite much ALL the salts that exist.

    KClO3???

    Just buy that yourself...

If you can´t, then only because they don´t want you to blow up yourself. It´s not to annoy you, but for YOUR SAFETY.

  • nooo!! kclo3 is illegal to possess in denmark.. how would i ever find that in denmark D= ill need to order online.. but who pays with the credit card and where it the package sent to? just wont work :(

  • I make Cl2 with KMnO4 and HCl but your method sounds better, as permangante isn't cheap.

I made liquid chlorine, put Cl2 in test tube and submerged into propanone and dryice mixture.

  • Jo, Kraftwerk hör ich auch gern :))

  • ENGLISH PLEASE!!! lol i have mostly german blood but i wish i could speak/read it :(

  • LAWL!!! hey, let us nazis speak german!!! ;-)

    wuahahaahaaa

  • LOL my great grandfather and his brother fought in world war 2 for the nazi party lol

  • really! o_O

  • Yup:D

  • just kidding

  • oh man du machst sachen! o_O

  • oh man... ^_^

naja, andere leute nehmen drogen, du kriegst das auch ohne hin. :-P
