  • thank you, thank you this really saved me.

  • i have the same hairstyle)) i'm trending?!))

  • cute :)

  • oh my god are you the guy from about a boy

  • Just... The Truth. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Your another example of why I LOVE YOU TUBE!

  • i love your video! it make me very conforting and you should make more hair tutorial it because it inspiring.

  • @TankTooHotTV Fuck YOU homophobe.

  • I'm a big fan of BEYONCE !!

    and I hope you too...

  • You voice is like from a Harry Potter movie

  • I'm gay and I'm happy to say that I was never bullied because of it. I had alot of support from my family and friends. I don't like it when people are bothered because they are gay. Living your life and being proud of who you are is the only advice I can give. People should never be scared to stand up for what they believe in. I'm proud to be an openly gay man, and so should everyone else. There is nothing wrong with being gay. Everyone needs to get along. Great video. Much respect. PEACE!!!

  • Alot of truth in what you say..... it does get better.

  • You are such an amazing person, Robert. I know you are a better person today but I still hate that you had to go through what you did. I haven't experienced being bullied but your video really touched me when you were talking about going through deep sadness to feel great happiness. My mom died in a car accident when I was 9-she was my everything. If I could live through losing her, other things don't seem as bad & I'm very grateful for all that is good in my life.

    All my best to you~

    xo Melody

  • Very inspiring :)

  • cute accent <3

  • you are so lovable and cute :)

  • are you really gay ?!

  • la la love this <3 its good advice for anyone going through a hard time. i being wanting to hear these words out of someones mouth for months and months. (: thank you <3

  • Thanks for these wonderful words! umm...but what does this have to do with hairstyling

  • Totally agree with you :D! nice video!

  • I agree fully with this and appreciate that this actually felt genuine compared to the edited montages with the inspirational music. Not that they don't serve a purpose too they just feel too manufactured for me. And though I don't think you need great sadness to feel great happiness (long story behind that reasoning) I always say whenever something good happens to me that I'm so glad I experienced every bad thing because if it didn't happen I might not get the thing that gives me such joy now.

  • I like your authenticity and a message. thumbs up!

  • I get bullied for being gay... Sad part is I'm not even gay.

  • Thank you for sharing such wisdom, I also agree that sadness to any degree does prevail in the end and brings out so much to be grateful for in life. Now that larger amounts of people have the courage to come out and there is more awareness, perhaps tragedies won't occur like this again. I really love this video! <3

  • this happen to me not in my school, but during my training when i was in a hotel staff accomadation, I was not out then, but in my current working envirement i am out, especially been a south asian, it is quite hard, but now I am strong, only thing remaining is my parents n familly. they would never understand. n i am not out to them. since i live far away from them, it is not a problem. and i am happy in my life that i went through a lot n which made me strong.

  • @alenkeiten As a South Asian I can agree that more awareness is neccessary, I feel that our community is evolving just like others in a positive direction. There is a gay Punjabi musician named Sikh Knowledge and everyone has gladly accepted him for who he is and with that in mind I and so many others wish you happiness in coming out to your family/parents!

  • wow, this is really good, but my past was worse, i was boozing with my friend in his dorm room, n we fell asleep on his bed after a long time of many ciggarates n booz, n some people have come inside the room n taken a video of us, n it was going around. which made me disgusted to others n made me really strong.

  • @TheStrangerSpeaks thank you for this! but did your friends start hating you And stop taking to you???? just because your gay? mine did...

  • thank you so much for this :)

  • so you really felt like shit, too ?

  • You're pretty awesome bro.

  • You're so right!!!

  • this video is amazing and i hope everyone likes this. cause i know i do :D

  • A wonderful video Robert. I am sure you're saving lives. Isi X

  • this is amazing.

  • youre a beautiful person- inside and out

  • I gotta admit, i was a bit prejudice when i found out u were gay,i thought u were another chris crocker. But then i watched ur vids and realized u weren't such a bad guy. u voice ur opinion and help rather than yelling and criticizng ur haters. I respect that. I'm not gay, but I still respect you and ur views on the world.

  • @Eafuke WHAT KIND OF MEN SAYS THAT FAGGOT

  • @youaresosolame THE KIND OF MEN WHO HAS RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND ABOVE FIRST GRADE GRAMMATICAL SKILLS

  • ... i can listen to your voice for HOURS

  • You are really inspiring! I'm not gay but I suffer from a mental illness and I really feel that in breaking me down, it has made me a stronger person and better person.

  • Thank you so much for this video it helped alot ,, I've just recently went back to school to being bullied for being gay and I didn't know what to do anymore but this video helped :) -3

  • lol i loved it when u said, theres no point in killing urself, UR GOING TO DIE ANYWAY.

  • what you say is simply the truth!! i think you really said, what they need :)

  • I get bullied at school, since i was about 8, im 16 now and its worse now then ever. I absolutely hate school, i am so self conscience and insecure. You just made that all alright -3

  • I love you:) u added me, thankyou:) this video helped me so much:) xx

  • youre adorable !<3 You really inspire Me..and im Not gay But i cant stand people who bother the gay communitie..i LOVE MY GAY FRIENDS AND I THINK EVERYONE DESERVES RESPECT !!!

  • Well sir, you are really handsome. (:

  • I am watching this video before I go to school after this great summer holiday and it helps me prepare myself for highschool...two years to go...I will hold on and I will be a best student in class for the third time! =) When I feel sad and when I'm losing motivation Il watch this video...stranger thank you...

  • I really really really.... really like this guy.

  • You're so awkwardly adorable! XD XD

  • Gay or straight, it doesn't matter. You are who you are. Be PROUD!! I want everyone to stand up for themselves. Just go crazy one time and watch the number of people back away from you and stop bothering you. Stand up for what you believe in. Much RESPECT.

  • "just blurgh...." HAHAH I LOVE YOU!

  • "In order to feel extreme happiness, you need to experience real sadness..."

    very true :) I know...

  • So it only gets better if you punch people in the face. Gays, nerds, dorks, whatever...grow a pair and start hitting back. It is your duty to correct society. Also, the guy in the video, you are not very articulate. If you spent as much time looking inside a book as you do a mirror, I believe your abilities to communicate will get better.

  • What a great video !

All of it is so true. My family and I had to moved to another place and I was so sad all the time but because I felt so much pain and I felt lost and lonely I was able to feel very good after a while and I learned to apreciate every little bit of happiness. I couldn't have felt this happy and good about myself if I haven't had these bad experiences. You really have to know what pain feels like before you can feel happy !

  • This video made me laugh so much.

‎"If you feel a little bit happy and you lose that happiness, you'll feel a little bit sad."

"I have recently stalked all the popular kids from my school"

‎"Some of these videos are really patronising"

‎"If you're thinking of killing yourself for any reason, there's no point because you're going to die anyway"

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE start doing stand-up. x

  • Thank you so much!! It makes me so strong and really changes my value toasted life, I used to think I don't deserve to fall in love with anyone in my life because I am gay, but now, I know it's nothing wrong being gay, it's only the homophobes got something wrong with themselves, and they don't deserve my attention. U r so strong and beautiful, thank u Robert.

  • HEY ROBERT!! OMG UR "Its Get Better" video, is soo pure and honest. U are such a nice beautiful man and really ur video had such an amazing message :D hope there are more people like u in the big world <3

  • If you could feel what true happiness is ,

you need to experience true sadness.

    THIS IS SO TRUE!

  • Each of us is different and unique in his own way. I don't wanna be a typical guy, wearing a pair of jeans, talking shit and look like like a total mess in my 40. I'm proud that I am ME! There were lots of gossip in my school if I was gay,but I didn't give a fuck,so I became one of the most brightest students in school's history after my graduation) So be proud of who U r! U're special if people talking boutcha ;P FYI the country I'm from is full of homophobes and racists.

  • I absolutely agree with what you're saying, "it gives you that push, forcing you to think for yourself", and it has certainly for me. I am the way I am because I was forced to self reflect and understand myself more, because of that, I'm better for it. Thank you for your message, and continue being stylish and beautiful as you are.

  • I'm a male, aged 16 and I'm not homosexual, as a matter of fact I have a girlfriend :) but I personally think your a very good looking man who has a great fashion sense and isn't afraid to be different which is a brilliant attitude. I'm highly jealous of you and I know for a fact that is why they bullied you but i can see that the saying 'what ever doesn't kill you, can only make you stronger' has helped you tremedously! xD

  • Ok, am I the only one wants a gay best-friend? To bad that there are no gay guys in my school. Darn.. Anyways I love your accent.. and I honestly agree with your video (:

  • True about the people making videos to jump on to the bandwagon.

But it also applies to their case of wanting attention to feel better and deciding to make the videos to want to belong.

But I get the significance of what u r saying, so I love this vid.

    Stay well!

People just want to know they're not alone!

  • I like your videos and usually agree with you, but while watching this i found myself cringing everytime you said that being bullied is the best thing that will ever happen to you. I understand your reasoning behind that but saying that being abused is the greatest thing that can happen to somebody, is a strange thing to say. There are other ways to grow as a person and life is hard enough without having to deal with being bullied.

  • Rob, you do have a wonderful gift of encouragement and explaining things. ....Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga were bullied too.

  • Though I do want to emphasize that I agree with you that the adversity we faced growing up because of being queer does make us stronger people.

It just needs to be lessoned so no one feels suicide is the only option, even if it never completely goes away.

  • I was with you until you brought up people in the entertainment industry.

The majority of queer entertainers are closeted because they are still at the mercy of the world's bigots / bullies.

It is like all the pain they went through growing up and the knowledge that there are still a lot queer youth being tortured everyday is blocked out by the money they earn!

  • There are countless "reasons" behind why people are bullied.

What makes bullying targeted at queer children the worst, is that it tends to continue at home and at religious establishments.

Maybe all parents are not specifically homophobic, but at the very least they project a hereto-normative environment, which is hard to go against.

  • God. Bullies are such jerks. I hate them. And no, In honesty, It doesn't get better.

Homophobes do not need to be rude. They're just ignorant and stupid. Preach it! Homosexual people are not any different by anyone else. Screw them. They're probably fat and lonely. While you're freaking gorgeous.

  • @TheStrangerSpeaks

I NEVER EVEN KNEW A CHANNEL LIKE URS EXISTED UNTIL U SENT ME AN INVITE TO BE FRIENDS. LOL!!! I'M A WOMAN SO AT 1ST I THOUGHT U SENT ME THE INVITE CUZ U THOUGHT I WAS A GAY MAN, BUT IF U DID-I'M GLAD CUZ UR CHANNEL IS AMAZING AND I SUBCRIBED, KEEP IT UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

  • <3 <3 <3

  • best one i've seen. i'm not gay and wasn't terribly bullied as a child, but i've always been an outcast, and i found this really interesting.

  • this video's brilliant, if a person is going to commit suicide, they're gonna watch this and be so totally confused that they're going to need to lay down and by the next day they wouldve lost the courage to have done it. good job. confusion ftw

  • I was never bullied... Probably cause I could beat half of the dudes asses!!! Great video! Everyone is bullied tho, not just gay peeps.

  • @Harleybear09 What you said was very ironic.

  • @tk97898 I don't get it

  • You said everything that I am telling myself in order to hold on. =D

And the bullies are jealous fools that envy you and because of that they cannot find any other way then to insult you and make you sad...and don't give them that pleasure, just take serious opinions from your friends and not those fools!

I just cant wait the end of high school ( I am second and there is 4 years) I just cant wait.

  • I have to agree with you about the It Gets Better campaign. It was a novel idea, but detached declarations really don't make much of a difference to people who have sunk so low that they don't want to live any longer.

And how monotonous and bizarre would it be to be happy 100% of the time? Some of the greatest art in existence has been produced due to heartbreak and depression.

  • This was very well done and nicely said. You look amazing by the way. Keep up the great work.

  • great video

  • I'm bisexual and people say they understand. But it is awarkard to be a biseuxal in South Korea.

  • are you a male model ? You have the classic male model look ^^

  • I. am. in. lust. with. you!

  • Comment removed

  • i love this. im subscribing right now!

  • Well said.

  • I love how you worded this.

  • I appreciate your thoughts and words. You've said it better than most I've seen thus far. Thank you. If I may say, your hair in this vid looks the best I've seen.

  • I appreciate this video. Thank you for speaking out about.

  • No matterwhat you talk about you just turn me on.

  • why was beyonce being bullied? i mean i really cant think of a reason, she's almost...perfect!...can someone tell me please?

btw i really like the video and especially your accent

    x

  • @julstar41 Exactly! Because she is black and she had lighter skin than the other black kids so they all bullied her. Stupid. Her skin colour is amazingly beautiful!

  • @TheStrangerSpeaks And she was also bullied because of her weigh and her big ears. Ridiculous! Now she's embracing all of that.

  • @julstar41 perfection is also a reason for getting bullied... they were simply jealous

  • not-gay but Dude.... u touch me... your right.... the only way to know how happy or blessed you are....... is by....feeling or experience the opposite.

u need to be a spoke person or something......

  • Woah that confused me....

  • :( you actually made me want to be bullied.... but im not at all, im actually kinda popular popular, but i would never be mean or hurt anyone. My class is very very unique. 10 students who are extremely kind and open hearted (i go to a very small private school) and ive never heard anyone say "gay" as an insult. I guess im just very lucky :)

  • I think you're absolutely correct. Perspective is HUGE in life. I am 40 and can't even remember the names of ppl who gave me shit in school.

I hope a scared or lonely kid happens upon your video and finds comfort. You're lovely. xo

  • Well now you're the sexiest man on Earth. I think you win!

  • I love your honesty ^_^

  • true

  • youre. so. beautiful.

  • thank you for being real and honest and relatable, and not just making a video because you wanted everyone to be all "ohhhh you're such a nice person for doing thisss"... this video is sooo much better than all the rest i've seen from beauty gurus acting like they're saving the world with their youtube videos.

  • I may not have any friends that are homosexual (because I don't do much other than sitting around) but I understand the pain the homosexuals have to go through...god that sound ignorant....but I think its so great that there is a project like it gets better...and I think that your story is so touching!

  • Thank you so much :) You really got me thinking here. Your experience seems to have made you an intelligent, strong, artsy and kind young man... I'm glad I found you and really looking forward to see where you're going with this channel and your blog. Thanks for the friend request :) !

  • Wow you are so right

  • You are too cool....God, wish u could be my best friend for real...I really click with your personality...u have a strength about u that is absolutely captivating. U showed me that being different shows strength & defiance. That's why I subscribed to u. You are awesome in my eyes. Be yourself, & fuck the haters.

  • This was the best video thus far! I want to get to know you fer sure.

  • omg I've watched like 20-30 it gets better videos from famous youtubers too but I can clearly say that THIS IS THE BEST ONE, I love the message thx <3

  • I have a friend from south-east england! xD Just felt like saying that...

also, you've just become so much more attractive.

    Handsome & Smart. Score!

  • very, very, very true. I am thankful for each and every bully I have come across. they have taught me to love myself, love others and be a good person. If there is anything I would like my childhood bullies to know is that they have made me the happiest person I could be and that I don't have to fear what others think of me and can just go on being myself because they have told me each and everything that is "wrong" with me already and nobody can say anything to me I haven't heard before.

  • You rock babe! Awesome video! ♥

  • 4:45 to 4:47, I think gregoryGORGEOUS quoted you! :)

  • Thanks for this video!

  • Interesting & deep speech :)

I'm sorry you didn't get love from your parents, but i'm sure you found it anyway.

  • @ZoeCharlotteJodie1 aww well thanks. i had terrible acne in school so i'm sure it was just because i'm gay!

  • @TheStrangerSpeaks acne is sucks.it ruin all my teenage moments! :"(

  • @TheStrangerSpeaks seriously?? couldnt have even imagined...your skins so clear now!

what'd you do to make it better?

  • you are amazing!

  • I think this is one of the best videos in the whole "It Gets Better" project - I completely agree with most of what you have to say. As a 32 year old gay Australian male who experienced at least six years of school bullying I applaud your effort. It does get better - but it takes time, sometimes lots of time. The bad times do help mold you - but they don't make you.

  • You know, you just know. You know much more than I ever did at age 23.

I hope that everyone knows, or realizes, that what you know when you are a teenager is not the same thing that you know as an adult. Rejection that seemed so bad is actually a lesson in how to move on to better things.

  • Thank you for expressing the other side.

  • Wonderful to see more people from England contributing to this! And I agree completely, it never really got better for me for no other reason than because I forced myself to get on with life. It's not an easy thing, and it doesn't just happen. I felt the same, especially when watching videos by celebrities. Don't want to give kids this unrealistic idea that it just happens. They have to be strong, and going through something like this is what is going to make you tougher. :)

  • where r u from by the way? love your accent.

  • @cholohdmilp south-east england

  • thanks 4 ur video :).

  • I seriously had to watch this video twice because I didn't focus on what you said at first. I just sat staring at how beautiful you are.

And I absolutely agree with all that you say, but reality is too that everyone can't cope with hardships and pain to turn it into a strength. Although those who do, are stronger and wiser than ever.

  • thank you very much for making this video, it really strikes a chord. my main problem between 13-15 was that my high school was very religious and taught basically that gays are disgusting freaks of nature, and i believed it. it's taken me a while to try and overcome that; even now at 16 there are still parts of that engrained in me. bullying was less of a problem, it was more of an internal battle with depression and self hate. people like you make awesome role models for me :)!

    thank you <333

  • you are gorgeous, why would people bully you lol they are stupid :o

  • I LOVE YOU.. IT GETS BETTER.. REALLY :)
