I don't see why some people are saying you need a super PC to play this game, my 9800gtx+ which is now 115$ at newegg can handle crysis at 1280x1020 with 2xAA at reasonable frame rates

I bet a 70-80$ graphic card can handle this game, which isn't too bad.

If you don't have a graphics card and are using an intel integrated chipset, you better upgrade cause you can't expect that little thing to handle any new games in 2 years.

in my point of view unreal engine 3 and the developers make things look much thicker such as buildings and characters... I'm no programmer but i really don't like how the fluid, building infrastructers, and physics look... plus the graphics sometimes look really low... I'm no pro nor a developer its just my point of view... i know these people work hard and what not... but i've seen games with much more better graphics and good physics plus u3 lacks it on the small detail

the thing about a phisics/graphics engine is what they do with it. any small visual detail that seems off from real life is a developer error or artistic choice. it is completely possable to make a game look real on UE3 or even Havoc once processing power allows the amount of particle effects and displacement mapping that is needed to do so. the problem is not the engine, but the choices of the developer to use bump mapping. bump mapping looks good from afar, but on close inspection...

I know it has to do with the developer but all the games I've played using the UE3 haven't impressed me as much as Crysis. Also the way physics work in a game. Everything comes down to how well the engine was developed in my point of view and it seems that the UE3 needs lots of work to be done. I love the UE3 it's just that it lacks it in some parts. I'm playing gears of war 2 hahaha amazing game there are some corny animation here and there.

Not really.. In Gears of War 2 the environment is no where close to completely destructible. Most of the destruction is static, not dynamic and is just aesthetics. Grenades that go off near walls just trigger a prerendered and determined sprite. I played Warmonger I quite amazing but I was disappointed that the ground isn't dynamic.

fails to show a real level of detail because the polygon the bump map is applied to is actually completely flat. it just processes shadow on the flat surface to look like texture. but when using displacement maps, it works like bump maps but the polygons are actually created to show the texture. but, making a texture of a cement wall with displacement mapping would create too many polygons for any current computer to display in game.

its a power problem, not an engine problem.
