All those great rock songs played by London Symphony Orchestra make me think of a movie's soundtrack...maybe the Disney "Fantasía" (I don¿t know the name in English)...But WOW!
The London Symphony Orchestra is amazing (don't get me wrong) but covering hippie music isn't the best idea. Well, I wouldn't mind hearing them cover the Atom Heart Mother suite...
@AuraHero They're my favourite band. Another Brick in the Wall (part II) is, according to Wikipedia, classified as disco and progressive rock. I just wrote disco because the song sounds like a disco song to me more than anything.
@HolyGoalie00 I know. I used to edit random stuff for fun, but they revert everything almost immediately. All I'm saying is that, based on my experience with disco music, this song has that "disco vibe", if you know what I mean. Like, that bass like and rhythm guitar sound like disco music.
@Tedericoe Every time I mention to anyone that I like Pink Floyd, they automatically assume that I'm some pot smoking hippie. It must be a stereotype. They were also one of the first psychedelic bands.
I should also point out that everyone that I've spoken to that likes Pink Floyd starts talking about listening to their music while they're high (another hippie trait). o_o
I listened this song and another songs by LSO when I was little...(I was ca 5 years old) and now I dont know where is my casette ... I´m sad :( ... this songs are amazing!
Well, if you can think of a way to get it, I've got a copy of Us & Them - Symphonic Pink Floyd (by the London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra... I think???) which has got 'Another Brick in the Wall Part 1' on it. Your more than welcome to a copy if you can think of a way for me to get it from England to you...
@roccer2112 I am well aware that the wall was made into a movie I am simply saying that if one of the songs like this one was put into a major movie only an orchestra like LSO would pull it off
Wow this is like Brick in the Wall but not Brick in the Wall...I mean you can hear it but its different, unique. I like it!! I love the fact that it kept changing too. Awesome!
there is a CD available called "us and them" pink floyds music played by the london philharmonic orchestra on the Point Music label. TRack listing, Time. 8.11 Another brick in the wall pt 2. 5.09 Comfotably numb. 5.26 Breathe, 4.01 Money. 6.42 The Great Gig In The Sky. 5.07 Nobody home 6.23 Us and Them. 11.33 Time. 10.40 It is superb. Marc (sydsfloyd)
Yes, you can get the CDs but they are very rare, you can download Symphonic Pink Floyd illegally though... Anyway I am surprised that those versions are not more popular... It sounds simply awesome with the orchestra!
I agree. And it's totally worth downloading it, since the soundquality is way better. It would be great to have it on CD indeed (you want this kind of music in the best possible quality). But I haven't found it yet.
Just started to learn to play violin at school and this kind of music is a great help to me. Are the albums that resgisrar18 mentioned available on cd? If they are where can I get them?
Let's have more of these albums recorded. Classic Rock, Classic Rock II, Classic Rock Rock Classics, etc. These songs were brilliantly adapted by LSO and it's just a shame more of their tallents were'nt recorded at the time.
a shit song song made miles shitter than the original - result!

Pretty sure this is the London Philharmonic Orchestra. They're both pretty good, though. /understatement.

It's nice to mix this version with the original Pink Floyd.

How many other orchestra covers are there of this song? I can't seem to find a particular one.
pailhead11 2 years ago
Sounds like a touch of " Fantasia " in some places.... a touch on the treble side, stronger base instruments would complete this....excellent.....

I have Us and Them, bought it back in 98.
However the one I like the best is The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays the Hits of Pink Floyd.
Sticks more to the original, and the guitar player's oustanding.
Try to find Shine on you crazy Diamond.
