Great, Minnesota, you can have him. Another Marxist not-funny lawyer who wants to be a politician and swears that he has the answer, everyone before him did it wrong and this time socialism will succeed.
Al Franken reallllly pushes my buttons. I am from Minnesota and I've lived here my whole life. He moved away and hasn't lived here in many years. Then he moves back VERY recently and acts like he knows eeeevverything about Minnesota. HA!
it makes me laugh when people call universal health care the "first step towards socialism" yet they don't care that we've lost tons of civil liberties (the real first step) and that the national government already regulates pretty much everything in our lives...
You would have to be pretty stupid to not realise he was joking ... it's Letterman, it's a comedy show, doh. Rep's seem to lie all the time these days, like HC ha ha and CNN!!!!
You would have to be pretty stupid to not realise he was joking ... it's Letterman, it's a comedy show, doh. Rep's seem to lie all the time these days, like HC ha ha.
I wish I could agree. Unfortunately, unlike decent joke candidates such as Friedmann, Franken takes himself seriously and actually believes the liberal crap he spews. I urge all Minnesotans to vote for his Republican opponent (and indeed all Americans to vote Republican across the board in '08).
Some of the best world leaders were extremely good satirist. Jeez, fallacies and more fallacies! With politics, I just seem to discover more and more of them!
True, but the scary point is he might win with the clueless electorate in this country. Remember, in liberal(in my sense, referring back to "clueless")Minnesota, they(not me) elected Jesse Ventura. And yes, we have suffered, and suffer still from his few years in office.
Minnesota is the only state that would elect someone like Franken. They elected Ventura in 98, so there's good reason to believe they'll make a similar mistake in 08.
I'm sorry, health care in the US is not run by those who care for patients, it is run by administrators, HMO's, and insurance companies. We need to get them under control so that doctors can do their jobs.
If I lived in Minnesota I would vote for Franken. I think he's a great guy with great ideas, I just find the USO tour with the burkha thing a little tacky. He's smarter than that, kinda insensitive.
Liar Liar- USA has great health care- i had broken my ankle in Florida business holiday and went to hospital. It was so clean and people friendly and i got fixed up. My company paid for it but treated well
Were you born in 2002? "My mom beats all the kids in teh neighborhood, but she was good to me, thus she is good. The neihgborhood are liars." Smartbrains. Think of the nation as a whole.
The issue isn't necessarily the quality of our healthcare, it's the availability. The system works out fine for those who have access to insurance/affordable healthcare, but a very large portion of the population can't afford it. In that regard, our system needs some serious reform.
judging by the polls and the way he comes across here, he'll probably be elected in the fall. he's sincere and funny, plus he has good name recognition and fund-raising. One less republican to tow the party line
Although satire is usually meant to be funny, the purpose of satire is not primarily humor in itself so much as an often quite angry attack on something the author strongly disapproves.
Oh, yes... 'have to' bring universal health care!
WHO... there's a standard review for 'universal health care'... just like any other UN review agency.

You can always donate your time, put a sign on your lawn, make some phone calls, if you can't send money. With guys like Bush ruining the country and leaving bills for your great grandchildren to pay, how can you afford NOT to help elect men of character like Al?
