hey, i`m buying a male cockatiel his age is 9 months, and he didin t like me bcz he was living in a big cage far from humans, can i training him? and how?
hey mate i have a male cockatiel best thing in my life he is my best friend i want to get a female aswell as im getting a new set up getting a £125 cage it pritty big but have u got any tips for me in how to breed them please reply back nice vid and he sitting on my fingers now as im typeing lol :)
@paintballvice17 I don't leash my cockatiels, I usually just clip their wings. I would like them to have their wings, but it prevents them from flying away outside, and from getting harmed indoors as well. I would just clip his/her wings.
@IchigoDluffy I think you have alot of time on your hands and will spend a fair amount on money on a bird. I suggest you get a cockatiel. Cockatiels need alot of interaction and they are very intelligent birds, they are easily calmed. And by the by, what do you mean by 20-30 pounds? I'm not from the UK :)
usually with standard care around 15 years, with good care 20 to 25 years, and the best care with 40 yrs.the oldest cockatiel i have seen was 45 years old!
vinatina-i know -piperiscute- has already answered your question, AND that is how you tell if its male or female, but also girl Birds dont talk or whistle long tunes...IF they posibly do, then they probly wont do it very often....
in the winter does it need special care? like warmth of a reptile or just normal house temp year round? and if it needs special warmth, how can i do this without turning up the thermostat? pm me with ways.. please dont just reply here pm me. thanks!
HI i got a cockatiel for my birthday too. my bday is april 10. So when the pet store owners got him out of the cage he started SCREAMING. It was very horrifiyng
Hello, i recently got a Cockatiel for my Birthday and it is awesome. sits on my shoulder and i play with it. However.. when it is sitting on my shoulder it keeps making a cherping / skwakingg sound.. is there any reason for it being noisy like that evin though i try give it enough attention?
maybe your cockatiel needs more attention, some cockatiels want 24/7 attention lol. and some just want 10 min. Most people have to re home their pets due to the taxes so everyone has to work hard and they never have enough time to give all the attention their pet needs, I usually do part or all of my homework at school that way when i come home i can give my cockatiels the interactions they need
Thank you very much.Makes alot of sence. Yeah im not sure if it is the pet for me. as Much as i like it im not sure if i will have the time to really look after all its needs.
it depends, (really does depend) since you have a dog and a cat, on the first day or weeks or so, keep them away... when you think you're ready, keep the cockatiel in the cage and let the animals come near. (cockatiels don't mess with bigger animals usually) do this for a couple of days, so the cockatiel can get use to the animals. after you can keep the animals together, be sure they don't eat your bird...:/
Hi. I have a small dog and a cat, and i was just wondering how cockatiels do when being around them. I know not to just like let it walk around, but to what extent can it handle them??
I really want a cockatiel, so please respond!!!!!!!

my 2 cockatiels are scared of me when i go closer to them,is there a way to make friends ?
MrMariobros222 1 year ago
YOu can buy cockatiels from other owners or adoption it's way more cheaper. Or from breeders but you have to be careful with that.

NEVER put a bird in a harness. Because if they get frightened they try to fly away and when their chest gets yanked back they can pop their air sacs.

how do you know if a cockatiel is a boy or a girl? ps
vinatina 2 years ago
The easiest way to tell is if your cockatiel has a bright colored red cheek than it is a male, if it is more of a light orange than it is a female.

how many times a day do you need to clean the cage?
jantlan139 2 years ago
Best is one time a day, it really depends on how messy your bird is some people clean it once a week, others once every 2 weeks

it's your cockatiels opinion. 95% love millet! So millet, or those small seeds that come in seed diets.
