  • Oh my gosh you were a stud!

  • Thank you! I grew up watching KTVU and saw Star Blazers everyday. It was the best animated show of my entire childhood!

  • Mind obliterated. Too cool, August!

  • @UltraGokin That's understandable - we got tons of those - no worries! PM me your address!

  • As I type this I am a veteran animator working in New Zealand, but my journey began watching Captain Cosmic as an 8 year old in Marin County back in 1979. Being exposed to anime at that age inspired me to become an animator many years later. THANK YOU!

  • @mysyn Thanks, I appreciate that — glad to hear about your career! Cheers!

  • @UltraGokin Great memories! Sorry you never got your Godzilla Fan Club kit — we didn't respond to letters without a Self-Adressed Stamped Envelope enclosed. I still have some of the fan club kits, if you're interested in one for free! Need to dig them out of storage, first!

  • wow "Auggie" you really did have some great starts back then. Great video.

  • @Timothy2035 Thanks very much!

  • LOL just came across this August, nice work for 1979!

  • @MrJim Cheers! I appreciate the kind words!

  • Yamato forever, good !!!

  • I remember watching this when I was 5 on ktvu.

  • that's really cool !!! you know in Spain star blazers was called "Estrellas Luminosas" and has very good voice characters I think better voices than the English version, I will upload some of my VHS when i have a time

  • @RaulBillieJean Please do, Raul! And thanks for the comments!

  • @August138 Still, you did a fine job on presenting this with the best knowledge you could get at that time. Neat I stumbled across this right now.

    -Chris S.

  • @RetroToledo Thanks, it's appreciated! :)

  • @August138 You're welcome!

  • Love it man, the host doesn't seem to have much enthusiasm about it its either that or hes rather stoic. Dig the last 70's Ragone!

  • @Roehm21 Bob Wilkins was a bit stoic as Captain Cosmic, and he had complete enthusiasm for the shows — he not only hand-picked the shows aired on Captain Cosmic, but also created the show to feature Japanese imports! If it wasn't for Bob Wilkins, we would never have had STAR BLAZERS on Bay Area television! Wilkins was a veteran Horror Host, who was on television from the mid-1960s through the early 1980s.

  • "Augie Ragone is withie, uh, with us." lol

  • @Japanfan4saken Those were the days of locally-produced television — you also hear network TV hosts, such as David Letterman and TV news anchors have slips of the tongue as well, even today.

  • @August138 Lighten up. I was joking lol

  • @Japanfan4saken There's nothing to lighten up — you made a comment on my page and I responded with some facts. Remember, you are posting on my page, and if I was upset, I could have just deleted you, right? ;)

  • @August138 Calling this "your page" is greatly exagerrating lol

  • @Japanfan4saken It's my page/channel/etc. on Youtube. You're hashing semantics. What's your problem?

  • Why the hell don't you write a series of books ? I mean.. My god, the knowledge you have would fill half a library. It will always amaze me.

  • Absolutely wonderful! I wish I had had a VCR back then! I think I only missed a few shows during the entire run of Captain Cosmic. They sure showed some great stuff which was just not on the air anywhere else before or since!

  • Aren't those ships flying around at the beginning of Captain Cosmic from Buck Rogers?

  • Yes, they are.

  • YAY!!! \o/ AUGIE!!! So glad to see this!! Folks should know you had several appearances on this show AND Creature Features!! Loved this stuff back then and still do haha!! Really glad to have learned you never let the passion go. Keep on doing!!

  • Thanks, Doc!

  • Wow! I recall seeing this exact show when it was first on! Amazing! This brings many memories back! Thank you for posting this!

  • Thanks, Vikki! Glad you enjoyed it! I will eventually upload another appearance, this time on John Stanley's "Creature Features" from 1980/81 as soon as I can edit the file to Youtube length.

  • Thanks, gentlemen!

  • Your works always great August - well done :)

  • Nice! RIP Bob Wilkins though...
