I think its inappropriate to compare Jason to his dad, he's obviously influenced by his dad but he's just a great heavy rock drummer in his own right.
I just love this guy -- and as one of Jason's biggest fans and defenders, I offer a "one finger salute" to anyone who disparages or disrespects him in any way.
Jason is not trying to fill his father's shoes -- nor could he, as he is well aware -- but keep the legacy of his phenomenal father alive through a "very obvious" talent he was lucky enough to have passed down to him.

It is about the style and charisma in the playing. I'm gonna go ahead and rip apart every speed drummer. Spped is fine and dandy, but it does not make you a great drummer. Anybody can learn to play fast with a double bass pedal. Not many can get the same speed from one foot.

Not one band in history has ever touched Led Zeppelin and every drummer respects John Bonham and Jason Bonham. Both men have a sound hard to replicate. Maybe their sound is not for you. But it surely is for me. It is more raw than complete techniques. Jason is not his father, but he has is own way of playing.
@rickjohnson3201 I don't agree. Bonzo had the complete package. But what really made him great is that he played what was needed on those Zepp recordings - no more and no less. Very melodic and with great intensity.
Maybe you should listen to some Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich Orchestra, or Liberty DeVito. Peter Erskine!
I would say that the drums are extensions of all these people. Vinnie Colaiuta plays great and quite the technician. But he doesn't move people - live or on record. Still great.
Jason uses a double bass pedal,, His father would slap him for that He will not and has not hit the status his father had,, and he died at 32,,,how old is Jason? his talent is no where near dad, sorry and playing for foreigner only make it worse

The minus for being Bonzo's kid? You'll always live under his shadow and will be comapred to him. If he was anyone other than John's kid more people would give him the respect he deserves.
