@stevenh366 no considering the penny whistle was invented by Clark an English instrument maker in the 19th century. The whistle is not Irish it may be played in the Irish trad but it isnt an irish instrument.
@stevenh366 The tin whistle is actually more indigenous to Britain, namely England, than it is Ireland. Besides, why does it matter? The music of the British Isles is very similar in nature, we should be embracing it as a whole.

God Save the Queen is the official anthem of the UK, but Scotland, England and Northern Ireland don't have official ones of their own. There are many de facto anthems used in various settings, including sports, but none are yet de jure (official) anthems. Wales is the only "home nation" whose devolved government has adopted an official anthem (Hen Wlad fy Nhadau). Nice vid BTW!

@kylemunro1 The official one is Scotland the Brave, words written by Cliff Hanley in 1947. Thats what is sung at commonwealth games etc.
