Beale is awesome. Very realistic character performance. The guy really seems to be MAD! To me, a good film is one that moves me and this one does on various levels. This movie isn't as good as it has been advertised to be by Alex Jones, Keith Olberman and youtube. Howard Beale isn't even the main character of this film, and it's pathetic how soon his glory fades and he is beaten down, reduced to a simpering pup and a sellout. I expected so much more. But what Network basically amounts to is a sordid love story, not the inspirational tale of Howard Beale breaking away from the pack like I hoped it would be.

"revolution" in a televised age. Him and Laureen Hobbs being sell outs is an important part of the satire. it plays with our expectations and teaches quite cleverly about the perils of extremes like "radicalism" and "corporate cosmology". study the writing, the message, ignore the plot.

Beale is awesome. Very realistic character performance. The guy really seems to be MAD! To me, a good film is one that moves me and this one does on various levels. Doesn't he pass out after making this speech? Anyways, this vid clip reminds me that I spend too much time online and that I should be reading more books/mags/papers and pursue other interests. It's amazing how fast a day goes by when staring into a screen. Time now to shut off my PC...

This movie isn't as good as it has been advertised to be by Alex Jones, Keith Olberman and youtube. Howard Beale isn't even the main character of this film, and it's pathetic how soon his glory fades and he is beaten down, reduced to a simpering pup and a sellout. I expected so much more. But what Network basically amounts to is a sordid love story, not the inspirational tale of Howard Beale breaking away from the pack like I hoped it would be.

I have to disagree with you. Watching clips out of context can make it seem that the film is about revoultion but it is not, it is satirising how we see and perform
"revolution" in a televised age. Him and Laureen Hobbs being sell outs is an important part of the satire. it plays with our expectations and teaches quite cleverly about the perils of extremes like "radicalism" and "corporate cosmology". study the writing, the message, ignore the plot.

Of course man has an impact on the climate. - but - it's not nearly as big of an impact as when that big, fiery ball in the sky starts to increase it's thermal radiation output. The sun isn't some lightbulb that is constantly illuminating at the same rate and the same temperature. Study the temperture changes in the rest of our solar system and you will see evidence of warming on all planets and their moons.

If you actually read what reputable scientists have said about this subject they'll tell you the obvious truth.. the sun causes global warming and trends have occurred throughout history. Spikes in temperature happen, and then leave. Or.. you can give in to what a politician says and pay carbon taxes, when we only make up 3% of greenhouse gas. "I want your money!" That's what scientists say.. right?
