@MrSeventhElement, he doesn't fall because he has accelometres/gyroscopes to sense which way and how fast he is falling and then the device on his "chest" has a weight and quickly compensates the falling by shifting the robots weight, that's why we see the device balancing in the beginning of the video, but when the robot is describing curves the device is almost still because it is a type of movement easy to balance (that's why we can do it easily and can't stand on a still bicycle)

If it tilts of way the pendulum mechanism compensated equally int he opposite direction. Kinda like Newton's 1st and 3rd law.

to me it looks like it is a motored bicycle with a robot shell sitting on it to hold the gyro. the steering was not done by the arms but done by two pistons near the base of the handle bars, and the power to the wheel is done form the barrel thing under the seat above the rear wheel. to me it looks like the only things in the robot body is the gyro and other sensors like sonar and the electronics for the bike.
