I saw this movie when i was 14 about sixteen years ago after being impressed by Akira, i became a Kawajari fan since. This has been one of my fave animated movies of all time.

Man...This was the golden age of pre-DVD Anime. Golgo 13, both Queen Bee and The Professional, Project A-ko, Vampire Hunter D, Record of Lodoss War, Iria, Ghost in The Shell, Patlabor and Bubblegum Crisis are all classics, along with this classic, Wicked City.

This movie owns. Forget Bleach, Naruto, One Piece or other stuff you see today. This movie kicks their butts with its total awesomness. A must see for every anime fan out there.

@tyrlena I'd say anything by Satoshi Hino ie Paprika, Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent. Also I recommend X1999, Black Lagoon, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and if you like mecha animes, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Other than that, another classic: Dagger of Kamui

Kawajiri is sick ... His films are good, probably some of the best examples of animated film, but damn, out of the other pioneers like Oshii, Anno, Otomo, Miyazaki, Rintaro,etc. This guy is detailed and creates good imagery, but damn, does everything need to explode apart?

you people don't get it; the Japanese anime industry targets different audiences because in Japan its "okay" for adults to watch "cartoons." Here's the thing though; a Japanese adult will likely watch Golgo 13, but, they will not watch Hamtaro or Pokemon. Want to know what age group its aimed at? Just look at the ages of the leading characters. Inuyasha, obviously enough, is aimed at middle school teens because Kagome and Inuyasha are 15 and 17.
