sorry Bishop, I don't want a portion of civil rights and I'm sure you don't either..back when our country was founded, 'Negroes' were granted just 2/3rd's of rights. fast forward to now, gays/lesbians are also denied full rights, i.e., the right to marry and all the benefits attached.... No legislation is rooted or reflected in religion - marriage is a civil contract - no church required - go to Vegas and be married by an Elvis wannabe and it's just as legal... your arguments are myopic
It is really interesting to here him talk in this interview compared to the language he used during the marriage debate in Washington, D.C. - where incidently he took a very strong stand without regard to the fact he is a resident and his church is in Maryland.
I think the victory of Prop 8 in California emboldened him to believe that the anti-equality supporters do not have to be nearly as willing to compromise.
