  • my dad was the off duty firefighter

  • as for the power lines...unless any of us were there we dont know how the comand dealt with this incident. normaly on a major incident like this paticularly this being a double circuit (top being an express feed and the under build is distribution), the comand for fd will request the line killed. the utility will send a crew(s) to open up the ckt.'s and place grounds on them. then notify the comand the circuit can be considered de-energized and grounded. again what the did here.only they know!

  • As he exited his cah.

  • how is it obvious the lines were shut down?? you NEVER truly know if the lines are off unless you touch them or have a special reader.....even if the power company says they are shut off, you don't ever trust them until they test it for you

  • when a life matters you act, i have been on a call and have wait 1 hour with an arching power line on a car for the power company to come rockinfireman5 LOL

  • Our protocols say you never approach, touch, or attempt a rescue of a person near a down power line until the power company has arrived and guarranted the power off. You don't know just by looking at it. We do have a Tic Tracer to detect electricity... sub stations try to reset and thus send a burst of electricity to see if it trips again. You don't want to be around when that happens. I don't agree either with being on that aerial ladder so close to the power lines.

  • well they had to it was so big hand lines won't put out. but they could of put it in a better place, very good rescue

  • wow, that looks kinda dumb.....who raises a ladder, RIGHT NEXT to the power lines and THEN sprays water over the top of them....I hope the lines were shut off...there were probably better ways to go about this
