You would be surprised how little the stability has been compromised. I've owned and driven several dramatically lifted Toyotas like this. The biggest hazard is driving over guard rails, and a poor line of sight of the car in front of you. On public roads, I had low mount bumpers and cheerfully conformed to all D.O.T. rules.

You have to install a 35 lb flywheel, correct any discrepancy in the cam timing, and at least change the final drive ratio to 4.56:1. A lot of negative posts. Relax...it's fun, Snobs.

I also have a 2002 F-250 w/ 32s on a 2" lift and 4.10 gears and I haven't had any problems with it either and its got 130,000 on it and it gets ran just as hard or harder than the '79. Oh btw, both trucks have 6,500 lb. rear leaf springs and both carry 3 tons on a regular basis.

those are 4 cyl turbodiesels with huge torque, so once you are up to certain speed it should be pretty efficient because at high gear with those tires it would cruise with at low RPM's

those are 4 cyl turbodiesels with huge torque, so once you are up to certain speed it should be pretty efficient because at high gear with those tires it would cruise with at low RPM's

Either you're joking or you need to get out a little more. Toyota made scads of four-door Hilux pickups back to at least 1984 and probably earlier. Most of 'em are in Australia, but I've seen a few in Canada and Europe.
