  • Ah yes bigotry is very much alive and well in the 21st century especially with in ( of all places ) the minority groups themselves. It seems many lack the comprehension skills needed to assimilate into America's social progress and think only Americans( or white people according to them ) need to be held accountable for their bigotry . To make things worse certain political forces pander and encourage these " ethnic enclaves " for base support. This can't go on for ever.

  • i liked this video and your open consciousness about racism in the 21th century. cartman is funny. archie is funny. theres a few pastors on youtube mocking white people.. funny! no matters whos the traget, theres a fine line between funny, and offensive. but theres not much to do for the biggets and the offended..

  • "I hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals."

    - Matt Stone.

  • Biggots are funny, that's all dude....

  • Check out Alf Garnett for the second level of who cartman was based on.

  • No! Archie is at his heart shown to be human and kind ( Edith almost gets diagnosed with cancer) or in general with his deepest held sympathies for his wife or daughter (not the anti-feminist demeanor) but where he stands when the chips are down. As opposed to Cartman, who Parker/ Stone purposefully go out of their way to make sure is NEVER seen as deep-down a good person (IE. stem cell episode). Bottom line is, Archie's ignorant, but bottom of heart nice; Cartman is arrogant, downright EVIL

  • One noticeable difference: Archie hates Hitler, Cartman does not. Cartman is a conspiracy believer as proved by the one episode where he believed 9/11 was a conspiracy and I do not think Archie supports the 9/11 conspiracy. I think Archie would want the Middle east bombed to oblivion within a few seconds of hearing what had happened.

  • I feel Cartman's pain. We all notice what he's singing about, but we can't openly express how we feel or get branded a 'racist'.

  • how dare they tie all in the family to south park that was an excellent show!!!!

  • He reminds you of Archie bunker bc thats who he is based off of, in the NPR interview they said once they realized that they ran with. Also if you click on the link you gave for it, the 2nd paragraph of the text clearly states why he is so lovable "As South Park's major villain, it's Cartman who often provokes the action" there would be no south park with out cartman, I do have to applaud ur ability to reinforce the number 1 stereotype portrayed on south park, that all adults are retarded

  • I think Eric Cartman's "Minorities" song will be the theme song for the Tea Party.

  • @alphacause u think that a racist song will be the theme song for a group of people that includes minorities? That makes amazing sense

  • Archie bunker was the quintessential american white male of his time and this time aswell.

Being proud of your heritage and pointing out the obvious truths of society does not make one a biggot.

What liberals fail to understand is the fact that hating what a group of people represent is not hating the group because of their race-it is hating the actions associated with that race.

And yes, it is not stereotyping if it is true.

Liberals believe in a utopia that will never exist!

  • FUCK NIGGERS !!

  • Right wingers like these characters because they say truths no one is allowed to say. Lefties like these characters because they associate uncomfortable truths with ridiculous straw man positions giving them a smug feeling of superiority.

  • When they chop you up with a machete will you be a bigot?

  • Jesus. Disgusting. You HAVE to drink some water before you narrate. UGH.

  • i think its not the characters views that we find funny, its just that we recodnize that they are doing their jokes are takin in my the audience in an ironic way and so when a cartmin like character makes a racist comment we laugh because it is so obsean that it is almost helping the opposing side. archie and cartmin's jokes are affective in the same way

  • The sad thing is the liberals never analyze the bigotry from the minority shows. The Jefferson's had plenty of bigotry views, as well as many other black shows to include Good Times. Many black comedians call whites crackers and think nothing about it. Racism is real in the black culture yet liberals "such as this person who posted this video" will never acknowledge its existence. Hollywood is full of liberals creating these shows, so they paint these pictures of who they believe whites are.

  • @SilverFox466

Do you honestly think that "cracker" is actually offensive to white people?

Good luck trying to justify bigotry by shifting the blame.

  • @NinjaJedi It is a racist term "derogitory" for white people. Yes I do, just as I believe the "n" word is racist, or any term that is derogitory towards a person insulting their heritage, race, sexual preferance...etc.

  • @SilverFox466 "so they paint these pictures of who they believe whites are"

And you aren't doing the same thing?

  • @DaPugilist Nope!

  • i actully agree with some of the things cartman says because most of the things he says are true

  • The tolerance of intolerance, and conversely, intolerance of intolerance, poses all sorts of bizarre quandaries. It's as if by rejecting bigotry, a rather common human trait, and not rejecting any other common human traits is a kind of moral hypocrisy. If you say you put up with those who don't put up with you, it's a kind of self defeating logic, but if you are bigoted against bigots, then are you also a bigot?

  • the thing that makes bigot characters so lovable on tv, is the fact that they're saying things that we would get in trouble saying in real life. we know their shows are just fiction, so it's okay to laugh at them. however there would be trouble if someone said those things in real life. there are some slight differences between archie and eric. like the fact that cartman is more explicit since fcc rules are less strict these days. but after seeing this video i fid their ideals similar.

  • what makes the bigot so loveable to us? i think we need some one like cartmen. he shows that it ok to laugh at that kind of stuff the jokes he tells and the joke he is(little ignorant red nake) and alot of the time he gets called of his jokes (best exp is the 24 mock when cartmen and the afgen kid get kidnapped his words are "umm im not playing any more") it lets us see how pathetic it all really is. and to real raciest out there it ur self you hate and cant live with so get over it be happy :)

  • Of course Cartman is an Archie Bunker character!

    "Goddam hippies"!

  • ...Yes.

  • is cartmen an archie bunker. no

  • Racist just love to hate anyone different period. If someone could just snap their fingers and there would only be white people in the U.S.A. it would only be a matter of time before all the white people with blue eyes would start hating all the white people with brown eyes, and all the white people with brown hair would start hating all the white people with blonde hair, and if they happen to inter-breed then there offspring would be hated by everyone becuase they would be considered muts...

  • @skategangster It's the ol' "us against them to feel as though we matter somehow" syndrome. Like in pep rallies. So many fights between my school and the rival school. I always wondered why.

  • I think what accounts for the acceptance of the 'lovable bigot' is that they don't know better. It's more that they are afraid of something they don't know, rather than they know what other races are like and hate them for it.

  • Rascism makes us feel more like a group...just like religion or supporting a team does. And the jokes can be quite funny... Why does black people have white palms?? Because there is something good in everyone.. See..You laughed a bit and felt closer with your team and you dont feel like a little pisant drifting in space/time..

  • this guy has the most boring voice ever

  • lol

  • Cartman is Bunker with the extreme meter maxed out. I think we love bigots on TV because we love to laugh AT them and shows are usually BUILT in a way that makes them the butt of the jokes. I think we also realize we can compare people we know in real life to these bigots and it helps us poke fun at them without truly offending them.

  • And all spelling and grammar was right. I cheek that and the computers correct what is wrong. I have it set to that

  • the south park creators WISH they could be as classic as Archie Bunker.

  • Archie Bunker does have considerably more emotional maturity than Cartman. (Comes with being an adult and not a cartoon character) Archie has a strong (iron clad some may say) sense of right and wrong. He'd never admit it, but he can and does learn to be a better person. Cartman, if anything, got even worse.

  • Not the same. Bunker is old-school, Cartman's just a dick

  • It's the concept that we find there ignorance so funny, I mean didn't someone once say 'ignorance is bliss', that they are so far in the opposite direction that it pushes us into the state that we realise it's surrealism, and because of there other more lovable, happy, hysterically funny aspects to there character, we establish them, as a character we like, but then again at times, a character we love to hate.

  • Here's the difference between the two. Archie Bunker was brought up in an age where talking down to minorities was acceptable, Cartman did not. Bunker is forced to face the new reality of the 1970's, while maintaining his world view of the 1930's. Cartman's bigotry isn't rooted in anything but being a stupid,. selfish brat. Bunker is thus a fully-realized human being, and Cartman is just a mouthy idiot. I don't compare the two because Bunker doesn't deserve the insult.

  • Archie Bunker and Cartman is not racist. There just speaking out on true facts that our happing in todays generations. Blacks do the same thing on there shows and call us crackers and honkeys so "south Park" and "all in the family" wasn't doing anything different.

  • @1488Hacksaw, goddamn there are like ten things wrong with your opinion. not talking about the opinion itself either, go back to school learn grammar and then post. wasn't doing anything different? and it's honkies believe me, i use that word all the time.

  • @thSubliminalCriminal I spelled honky right so you learn your grammar. I find it funny that black people whom are racist are heros to people but when white people speak out on the truth or facts that makes since, than were called racist. What i said is right.

  • @1488Hacksaw, >ahem< spelling and grammar are two different things, and by grammar i don't mean that little old palsied lady who made "homemade" candies. and racism is not heroic whatever color your skin is. i agree that black folks get carried away with their "righteous" racism but after four hundred years of shitty mistreatment i feel like they earned the entitlement.

  • @thSubliminalCriminal cheek your history. Blacks only been here since the 1800's so where is this 400 year bull shit?

  • @1488Hacksaw, up your ass with mobile gas, that's where my four hundred years come from. you twat i can tell you're one of those peckerwoods who gather their information from extremist hate sites and spout the rhetoric with the class of a hooker in church. so continuing this would just benefit me with cheap laughs at your expense. in the immortal words of your favorite wrestler mankind...have a nice day! you CHEEKy bastard

  • @thSubliminalCriminal You wanna get the dick out of your ass before you type. You don't make much since to what you say. Learn history.

  • @1488Hacksaw, shush

  • @1488Hacksaw said - cheek your history. Blacks only been here since the 1800's

    l

You do know many of the founding fathers had slaves, don't you?

The Dutch West India Company introduced slavery in the Americas in 1625.

  • Raised in the 'Southern States', I've found bigotry to absolutely moronic and hardly 'loveable'. I find it simply a mental condition that needs treated, because there's absolutely no reason to support it. There's no 'pure race', someone from Africa could give me a blood transfusion...looking at racial demographics and claiming 'difference' is just as moronic as claims to intellect. Provide free education to all and see where the 'difference' surfaces...it won't.

  • LiberalViewer, are you the voice of HAL in "2001 a Space Odyssey" ? o_o

  • "my mom says there's a lot of black people in Africa"

  • @ivangrozny27

yes hun, it's ok to call african people "black"... as long as their not african american... then their called niggers.

  • @Meansofviewing Wow... you know how to type "nigger" on the internet?! You're amazing!...Wait... I just did it too... I guess its not that hard to do after all. =(

  • @Heart2hart18

    what?

do i really have to spell it to you?

they are niggers... becourse... they live in U.S.A

    therefor, with alot of thinking,

you may actually deduce im not being bigoted... but actually poking fun.

This whole race? issue goes into the box called "only in America"

  • For some reason, it's funny to watch someone else be a bigot and a racist, and make all the funny comments about the "other" races, if there even is such a thing as "race" to begin with. Scientifically speaking, all humans are the same, in that, they can all interbreed successfully, regardless of 'race'. However, it is noted that humans are classified based on certain physical characteristics, such as skin color, or facial features. Technically, this idea is idiotic and has no scientific basis.

  • bc, Most stereotypes are true whether we like it or not. We all like the one loveble chactor that can say what we're all realy thinking without going to far. Although Cartman's age allows him to get away with a lot more.......

  • Racism is subjective. If you saw a bunch of people with underwear on their heads, and you commented on them. Would you be a racist or just somebody pointing out the obvious?

  • Everyone is a bigot .... duuuuh

  • My parents are like Archie Bunker it's just cos they're old and cant get used to change

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse that's just an excuse for acceptable racism.

  • @thejcjmguy no racism is never acceptable and I always try to ridicule their beliefs to show them how retarded and irrational theyre being and they just get annoyed at me and say that I'm the embodyment of political correctness gone mad but they are racist but that doesnt make someone a bad person it just makes them ignorant and wrong about the word its only when people start violence or be abusive to ppl that they become bad

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse So you're saying that your parents are not racist but prejudiced. I suppose that's a stage up, but the best way of showing people how their views are bigoted is by making a personal association for them so they can emphasise with the situation. Highlight this video to them, that they are the minority and its not any kind of political correctness.

  • You just like the word bigot as though you aren't one. Liberals need an enemy to mask their own racist selves.

  • @pyreo1 Sorry, you fail. Your statement is littered by an assortment of logical fallacies. It is a thoroughgoing debauchery of reason. Learn how to argue and then try again.

  • cartman is an asshole, so was archie, so am i. we all love our loved ones and friends, everyone else " aint from around here", from the school ground to the office/ work place. you can't love everybody or trust everybody. there are valid reasons for sterotypes, cartman's mom is german american, she was in a schizer video, I am not that surprised... we all have our loveable assholes and innocent racists like edith bunker, just says what she knows. work hard and do right, dont b an ass.

  • i cant stand niggers, and i`ll admit it.The typical you tube liberal wont. They wont admit to any prejudices.

  • you need to drink more water before you narrate. you sound like a thirsty Al Gore.

  • Dude it is funny and no matter what color , religion , or anything stereotypes are true at least 50 percent of the time. It is why they exist! We are not even 50 years removed from the early 60's civil rights movements in this country so why would anyone expect this country to have gotten past those issues. Over the top prejudice and making fun of people is the funniest thing ever. If everyone would grow a spine and enjoy the humor of our cultural and spiritual differences life would be good

  • Im sorry but i fucking love eric Cartman evil as he is..He is so fucking funny..

  • Is Cartman the Archie Bunker of His Generation?

    Possibly

But let's not forget George Jefferson from 'the Jeffersons".

He was basically the black version of Archie Bunker.

  • @XWWE88 True that! George Jefferson was way funnier to me but it's all about taste.

  • listen jerk water drinker your either african or american not both

  • It's the fact that the bigots speak the truth. Our consciousness to ourselves is all we have to please, too often those that claim to be "open minded" or "accepting" of people do so because it is viewed as what's acceptable based on what others around us think. They do not tolerate people of different races or creeds based on their individual morals, but how society will look at them and therefore adjust those views accordingly. Biotry could be seen as another word for "truth."

  • Nope. He is the God of all generations!

    ERIC CARTMAN FOR LIFE!!

  • They do it to piss people off and make people who have zero political views laugh. That simple.

  • The bigots are minorities anyway. Thet don't understand or accept America has no real color or race or whatever.

  • @SpyroTDragon

If America has no real race or color, why are there "affirmative action" laws?

  • @TeaBagOfTruth1776 Because if you learned about the history and the present of discrimmination, that's why

there is this "affirmative action" which isn't law. Unless you mean Equal Oppertunity which is Federal Law.

  • @SpyroTDragon You're an absolute moron to refute this. If people weren't out there FIGHTING for equal rights, nobody would be giving it to them. Get your head out of Glenn Beck's ass and think for yourself

  • @erik4727 I'm no Glenn Beck follow. Are you stupid? I do think for myself anyway as independent. I don't deny the equal rights that everyone else is fighting for. Equal rights is what makes us as one. And iti is worth the fight

  • @SpyroTDragon Cognitive dissonance [aka hypocrisy]. goodbye

  • @erik4727 Fuck off as well

  • @SpyroTDragon ????WTF

  • @SpyroTDragon

Affirmative Action is set in my state. Public entities have to have X number of minorities.

I think the best way to remove all forms of racial, religious, and gender discrimination is to completely ignore the fact that we aren't all the same.

  • @SpyroTDragon wat

  • @SpyroTDragon Did the world begin in 1970? Apparently it did, if your cruddy statement is to be believed.

  • There are very subtle similarities between the characters Archie Bunker and Eric Cartman. I think that for many of us who grew up with shows like "All in the Family" its hard not to notice it. There has even been debate wether Cartman and his mother are caricatures of Adolf Hitler and his mother Klara based on an actual photograph that once belonged to the dictator. The photo shows a chubby three year old Adolf sitting on his mothers lap. Its been well documented that Hitler's mother always let

  • Everyone secretly hates rules. It's true. When there's someone who is willing to freely say things that should just never be said, it's shocking, and when they do it humourously, you really can't help but love them.

  • i see both characters being preposterous

    thats why its funny

  • Im a proud bigot, racist, homophobe anti semite so what.I hate people who do not look like me,its my right.

  • I'd take Archie over that mindless cardboard puppet show for 12 year old morons any day. Bigotry is the mark of a soft mind. At least with Archie, the fans are aware that his bigoted ideas were sick and anachronistic, and no fan praised him for it. Kids young and old just seem to soak South Park up like a sponge without a single thought in their heads. Fans of South Park idolize and imitate Cartman and the creators know this, and glamorize his bigotry as if it's something to be okay with.

  • @Dipstikk News flash: South Park is NOT a kids show, at all. If kids are soaking it up, thats because their moronic parents let them watch it.

Those same parents may as well let their kids watch porno.

You're taking Cartman way out of context. No one praises cartman's racism--he clearly stands out as a someone to be reviled.

  • @VegasBilgeRat I know it's not a kid's show. All the same, kids watch it.

  • I love eric cartman because hes so vile.

  • Both Characters are the embodiment of vile we all despise but on occasion secretly endorse. Probably why we have a love/hate association with these characters, they repeal and and remind us of our own idiocy, and the stupidity of people in general that we deal with on a regular basis.

  • Your voice is annoying....

  • People admire the sensitive bad boy/tough guy because he's often a realistic character that embodies natural human duality. Often this character turns out to be more compassionate than his do-gooder counterparts. Gru from 'Despicable Me' is the perfect modern example of this archetype. He's a villain in the style of Dr. Evil or Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg but he's really just the "diet cola" of "evil" because he's really a softy. He becomes a vigorous defender of good and fights injustice.

  • Don't forget Jammet from that forgotten early '90s cartoon 'Capitol Critters'. The lovable "bigot" archetype has a lot in common with the sensitive bad boy archetype and those archetypes often cross over or can be embodied by the same character. They tend to have sort of a tough love appeal. Also don't forget that Archie, though racially conscious, was strongly anti-racist. Remember the episode where he fought the Klan? Plus, he was anti-Nazi as well as anti-communist, so he scores kudos there.

  • i really liked this video

  • They share some similar traits

  • @007superfan21

I guess that a lot of people really like archie bunker as you do, but cartman is much more modern, and archie bunker is like late 70's 80's?? I dont know exactly, but I do know that Cartman is either funnier or he is more known than him. In both situations, nowadays Cartman rules!

I truly respect your opinion and everyone else who likes to sit down and have a good laugh with Archie Bunker, I know that I sometimes do :)

  • i think inside all of us theres a little whitest puritan because i'm in no way racist in the sense that all white are better etc. obviously there are some differences between races not even small enough to make them actually different races, but back to my point i don't think anyone racist or not would want to see their "race" fade away it's almost like a sort of nationlist pride for your race

  • The who?

  • Whatever anyone can say about Cartman's "bigotry and ignorance" is just plain denial of absolute truths. Just come to mexico to see what happens and you'll see if there's a bias or not. Maybe you don't need to do that, just watch how most mexican illegal aliens behave in the US

  • Yo shut up man you talk too damn much -_-just be happy your alive its south park please don't butcher it up like this.

  • cartman has had the reverse effect on me, it has actually strengthened my racist views he has helped shape the bigoted man I am today.

  • Rush Limbaugh is the Archie Bunker of our generation

  • What actually is a bigot? I mean, I know what it means. But isnt everybody a bigot in some aspects of their personality?

  • South park has bad animation. Therefore the show sucks.

  • @Nashhinton You sir, are a retard

  • @LightbreadLoftin, Well, that's insulting. Geez! Take a chill pill dude....

  • @Nashhinton Ay man, i said it politely, i even called you "sir"

  • If you did not know, the character of eric cartmann was based on archie bunker. Trey and Matt said that in an interview u can find on youtube

  • it's called SUBTEXT. Cartman isnt meant to be taken seriously. He is just the personification of common people's bigotry and prejudice. Just like the rest of the town (adults) are a personification of common people's ignorance.

He really is like Archie Bunker.....only adapted to these fucked up nillies

  • Guess I should have actually watched the video before I posted that. (FAIL)

  • Matt and Trey have always said that Cartman was based on Archie Bunker.

  • I would like to have you as a news mediator. This article is so intuitive. I admire people with brains and a quest to know WHY? I would like to add you to our "Show" which is presently in development. Your payment is being in CREDITS for now, until the show becomes recognized.

    EXAMPLE: Cartman (may be) Archie.

Again, love the research! I am impressed. You would be part of many other artists, that are coming to ride along with the BEER 30, Nabz & Snatch show.

    look forward to your return:

    Nabz.

  • An example of my last comment: Skipping class at school is not seen as a good thing to do because it is against the rules and can hurt your education, but the cool rebellious kid at the back will do it anyway for a feeling of power. But if every other kid at school laughed at them for skipping, they wouldnt miss a class...

  • Id have to say that the "Loveable Bigot" character, in many different shows throught history and the world, is a way of showing people how not to act in society. But instead of condemning it, which could make people with a rebellious streak see it as something they might want to do, they put it down in joke form so people can see it in good spirits, but still realise that it is not socially acceptable.

  • Comment removed

  • I would have to say that no, Cartman is not the Archie Bunker of today, I think that Family Guy's Peter Griffen is though, although I feel that Family Guy has a few puns at All in the Family.

  • Real bigots tend not to be so lovable. I think by giving characters like Cartman these traits, it mocks the real bigots.

  • Lol I knew it! Parker even said it himself. They use kids in the show basically so they can make it even more obscene on television. Cartman as Hitler? Meh, it's just a kid. Sure he's not real but people use it as a mean to justify.

  • I always thought they put those bigots in shows to give people a character to hate. You know, an antagonist you can rely on, so you don't have to come up with a good one every episode.

I don't know about you guys, but I hate Eric Cartman. I think his character design is incredible, but the most enjoyable times in South Park are always when his bigotry bites him in the bum.

  • I THINK THE POPULARITY OF THE SO-CALLED "LOVEABLE BIGOT" CHARACTER IS DIFFERENT REASONS FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE. BUT IT CAN SIMPLY BE VARIETY IN ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE SAMEMORAL. I MEAN IF YOU HAVE 1 GREEN APPLE IN A BUNCH OF RED APPLES. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA NOTICE? THAT THERES ALOT OF RED APPLES? OR THAT THERES 1 GREEN APPLE? FURTHERMORE I THINK IT GIVES A CONTEXT AND SATIRE BY MAKING IT INTO TANGIBLE THIRD PERSON MEDIA AND IF THESE CHARACTERS WERE REAL IN FIRST PERSON THEY WOULDNT LAST 5 MINUTES.

  • @ZEROEVILDARKCOOL CAPLOCKS makes your view more important. LOL

  • I THINK TIS STUPID TO COMPARE THE 2 AND THEY HAVE THEIR OWN MERITS. BUT ARCHIE BUNKER WAS APPEALING TO ALL AUDIENCES INCLUDING OLDER AUDIENCES. SO I DONT THINK ANYONE ACTUALLY TOOK HIS PLACE IN THAT SENSE. EVEN WITH THE SIMPSONS, I LOVED IT AND MY OLDER AND YOUNGER PEERS LOVED IT, BUT I DIDNT KNOW MANY ADULTS WHO LOVED IT. NOT TO MENTION PRESIDENT NIXON BROUGHT UP ALL IN THE FAMILY SO THERE ISNT ANYTHING APPEALING LIKE THAT ANYMORE.OF COURSE THIS WAS BACK IN THE DAYS OF BASIC NETWORK TELEVISION.

  • In regards to question 1: Bigots are popular, in my opinion, because they give the public something they can see themselves as better than. Cartman, as another commentator mentioned, represents most everything that is wrong in society; once these flaws are pointed out through exaggeration, people can laugh them off as being impossible on their part.

Question 2: I would posit that Cartman is only one Archie Bunker of our generation, and vice versa. There have been many television bigots.

  • Hmm? When did this turn into another liberal/conservative argument? I thought we were just comparing Cartman and Archie. Why can't some people on Youtube keep on the topic of the video?

  • @AdmiralBetas

    Topics stray.

Carroll O'Connor played a cop in the TV show "In the heat of the night" which was a show so stupidly liberal that it as laughable as "refer madness".

Carroll O'Connor was a flaming stupid liberal.

Norman Lear was a died in the wool liberal.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone may have once been liberals, but they are now fair and balanced libertarians. That allows them to be #1 like FOXNEWS. The media normally disses the conservative half of the population.

  • @tnekkc So you're saying it happens...just because? I suppose you may be right. Now if this kind of irrelevant diatribe was confined to the Internet (as opposed to being diffused throughout the political spectrum), I'd be satisfied.

But hey, if randomly bashing liberals or conservatives is your guys' idea of fun, then have at it. I'll be commenting on the video up there.

  • His the hitler of his generation

  • This shit is funny as hell whether its politically correct or not!!! HAHAHA

  • Since you want to know what I think, I'll tell you. You sound like one painful bitch. See these characters for what they are. If you look back over the tv landscape you see this is how controversial and politically incorrect topics are dealt withGays, wogs, asians all got the same treatment on sitcoms. Look at classic british shows like Love Thy Neighbour and Mind Your Language. Or Kingswood Country from Australia. Get over your child like liberal 'intellect' and move on like the rest of us.

  • Character flaw?

  • For me Cartman personifies everything that is immoral and wrong within society. He is a perfect expression of evil. Archie bunker represents conservative idaeology; they very different characters.

  • Q: What do you call an empty jar of Cheeze Whiz?

    A: Cheeze Whuz.

  • Why isn't this host asking about the black bigots? Frankly I can only think of two times when I've heard (in over 4 decades) overt racially demeaning remarks against blacks from whites, but can not remember how many times I've heard racist remarks against whites. And what about women? What is it about liberals that are throwing women down the well and, as Cartman'd say, licking the balls of the alleged minorities? Move on folks, most of the rest of us have.

  • Question 1 answer: Obviously the bigots are popular because they are funny (comedy shows).

Question 2 answer: No, because Archie had another side and more depth not shown in this video, whereas Cartman is just baleful.

    Your videos are lacking substance...

  • OH LOOK IT'S A LIBERAL TERRORIST HARBORING UNCLE FUCKED LITTLE BITCH LIKE HIS DADDY!!!! IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING DUMB TO SAY LIKE JFK IS MORE FAMOUS THAN ABE LINCOLN, YOU SHOULD BE EXECUTED IN PUBLIC BEHEADING LIKE IN 1789 IN PARIS, FRANCE. DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING OF BEING TRUE INSTEAD OF BEING A LIBERAL DEUCE LIKE PRESIDENT OBAMA THAT LIES ABOUT THE "MAN" IS OUT TO KILL "INNOCENT" ARABS WHO WOULD KILL OUR SOLDIERS FOR A BUNCH OF FUCKING VIRGINS. FUCK THE OBAMA FAMILY, FUCK THE UN, AND FUCK YOU!!!!!

  • @Redneck322 Don't be so constructive!

  • @Redneck322 Im a liberal athiest........ and its workin out great for me ;) And I was a soldier and was deployed and if you really knew what you were talking about when you "bash" Obama you would realize that all this bad happening is the wake of Bush! He fucked the country and now the democrats look like the bad guys while trying to repair it! Same thing happened with Bush senior and Clinton. They start wars, empower the rich, take from the middle class, and then leave it to a democrat to fix!

  • They are popular because bigots will like them for their bigotry (they are usually too stupid to realize it's a joke on them.) Non-bigots will appreciate the parody of bigots.

  • character flaws????what character flaws ????i think cartman is the model citizen and this douche narating has the character flaws

  • @athiestracist ...

    Troll, go away.

  • @theshninja faggot go die painfully

  • @athiestracist Why would I do that when I have such a lovely and intelligent person such as yourself to talk with?

  • Personally, I can stand Cartman in small doses. The loveable Bigot is fun for me half because he reflects our own dark heart and half because I greatly enjoy seeing the Loveable Bigot get crushed hard.

  • ARCHIE BUNKER WASNT A LIBERAL YOU MEATHEADS. MEATHEAD WAS!

  • Archie Bunker>Fat Ass Master.

  • the whole point of cartmans charicter i feel is a way of the writers to express the view of many different americans from extremes of all kinds. he represents the obese, the greedy, self centred racist...it goes on, and because its so outrageous its funny, but theres a serious point in it, theres actually people out there that are just like that.

  • SCREW YOU GUYS.... Me -----> Home

  • the quesiton should be, how do they get to be a bigoted person? Like you stated that they are a product of their surroundings. then its society that brain washes them and creates them, if we didn't create them then they wouldn't exist.

  • No way. Archie was just on the ignorant side when it came to ethnics. (but not politics) He, despite his prejudices was a nice guy, well intentioned. Eric Cartman, on the other hand, was a sadistic character who admires hitler. I'd say Doug Heffernan and Al Bundy were more latter day's Archie Bunker, and all of them later a day's Ralph Kramden.

  • Archie and Eric Cartman are both ignorant and bigoted, but Cartman has an evil sadistic side that Archie lacks. Archie Bunker at his base is well intentioned and good hearted and that makes him easy to love. It's hard to like, let alone love, Eric Cartman. He's vile.

  • @snowstormcan I love eric cartman, funniest character ever!

  • @budandaspliff Yeah, he's funny, but not real likeable. You never sympathize with Cartman.

  • @snowstormcan I think they are kinda making fun of Eric's bigoted attitudes.

  • @snowstormcan whaaat?? all my friends and i know have watched at least some south park and if talking about it, Eric's always the favorite character :) Erics awesome and its so goddam funny when his making fun of ex. jews and gingers and latins . LOL just have the right attitude

  • @snowstormcan Yeah, Carman is a sociopathic fascist right winger, it's very clear. Archie was just narrow-minded silly little man.

  • @BeatnikFromHell666

I totally agree, but I still need to say that Cartman is 10000 times funnier.

  • @productofthe60's

At the time, Archie was "wet-your-drawers-while-laughing" funny ... it just doesn't seem that funny now (to you young-un's) because the culture is a ton more desensitized to that kind of humor now! Besides, deep down, Archie loved his country, albeit in an under-educated way Cartman, from the few times I've seen the show, is vicious in his bigotry.

    "product of the 60's"

  • @snowstormcan plus the fact that he's a cartoon get over it

  • @HolyCraq123456789 get over what?
