Actually, no. I had a gorgeous Amstaff up until a year ago when he died of old age at 14. I had to defend his being too many times as I live in PG county MD. (google it) I would very much like people to quit saying anything about the bull breeds that might lead to negative correlation. I dont know about dog breeding but is it possible to have only one puppy being born? I 'bred'(idk if thats the right word) hoping only one puppy came out, but 13 were born!unfortunately due to me being stupid and ignorant, she gave birth on a rainy cold day and that day I had gone out to buy groceries. when I came back I saw puppies scattered all over my backyard. And I found the mother in her house with 3 remaining puppies. I felt like shit that day. So if I get a dog, its going to be adopted.

Sorry to hear about what happened to your dogs. I honestly don't know what I would do if my dog or horses were taken from me in such a horrible way. I really hope something was done. No animal or loving owner deserves to go through that.
@creach805 sorry about your dogs :( that happend to me, 7 dogs, poisined by the same person at the same time, except for one, that special one, the leader out of all our dogs, Eskar he was half pitbull half boxer, that dog was inreplaceable, he was poisined at a different time for breeding with another dog, but now we still have 4 survivors, and 2 new dobermans. those poor dogs never last forever :(

@creach805 Responsible owners spay and neuter their dogs to prevent further overpopulation. PERIOD. If she gets pregnant again and has more pups, do you even know what happens to THOSE dogs? Can you keep an eye on them for the rest of their lives? Do you even know if all of THEM will not end up getting euthanized in the shelter because either their owners don't know how to raise pitbulls, or even worse, they are used for fighting?
There's just no reason to bring more pups into this world.
@LadyAnura Furthermore, the fact that this litter was UNEXPECTED shows a great lack of responsibility. By spaying your dog, you avoid mishaps like these in the future. This is a really cute puppy, but so are all the other litters of pitbulls that are born EVERY DAY and yet end up in shelter because either the owners couldn't take care of them, or the people they give them to weren't prepared for a pitbull. Unless you're a certified breeder, there is NO REASON you should be doing this.

That is why spaying and neutering is pushed so hard by all sorts of animal groups, including the ASPCA. A responsible owner spays/neuters their dog.

However, it is VERY rare for spaying and neutering to have negative effects, and works the VAST majority of the time. I don't think creach805 is contributing directly to the overpopulation, but if a dog is healthy and able, they should be S/N. It is irresponsible not to do so if the dog is healthy. If it's money problems, DON'T GET A DOG.

I dont know about dog breeding but is it possible to have only one puppy being born? I 'bred'(idk if thats the right word) hoping only one puppy came out, but 13 were born!unfortunately due to me being stupid and ignorant, she gave birth on a rainy cold day and that day I had gone out to buy groceries. when I came back I saw puppies scattered all over my backyard. And I found the mother in her house with 3 remaining puppies. I felt like shit that day. So if I get a dog, its going to be adopted.

@coltzFreak01 They are not vicious. It's the owner that makes them that way. I have a pitbull, and she is the sweetest. If I have guests she jumps on them and licks it till they have no skin. So if you don't want your pitbull to turn out all dangerous, train it, give the animal love, and, care!!! :D

@vanessavandalismfan6 yep i agree! i have 6 full grown pits! they are precious and very loving! ive trained them so well that i can literally walk in the back yard surrounded by all of them with two big bowls of food and they WILL NOT jump on me they obey and wait there turn..its amazing! i do not and will not serve them raw or cooked meat though...i dont want them to know what flesh takes like and thats the biggest mistake an owner can make or mistreat them and thats what makes them dangerous.

@creach805 sorry about your dogs :( that happend to me, 7 dogs, poisined by the same person at the same time, except for one, that special one, the leader out of all our dogs, Eskar he was half pitbull half boxer, that dog was inreplaceable, he was poisined at a different time for breeding with another dog, but now we still have 4 survivors, and 2 new dobermans. those poor dogs never last forever :(

@creach805 It's funny. I had just got my little girl and saw this and was like oh my god, that title is horrible but now being an owner of a pit bull for two months I understand it. It's like a joke. They're the sweetest animals and people give them this reputation for being baby eaters and what not. I feel bad even for calling her an animal. People need to stop judging these dogs. The only people turning these dogs are the monsters raising them.

@creach805 Responsible owners spay and neuter their dogs to prevent further overpopulation. PERIOD. If she gets pregnant again and has more pups, do you even know what happens to THOSE dogs? Can you keep an eye on them for the rest of their lives? Do you even know if all of THEM will not end up getting euthanized in the shelter because either their owners don't know how to raise pitbulls, or even worse, they are used for fighting?
There's just no reason to bring more pups into this world.

@LadyAnura Furthermore, the fact that this litter was UNEXPECTED shows a great lack of responsibility. By spaying your dog, you avoid mishaps like these in the future. This is a really cute puppy, but so are all the other litters of pitbulls that are born EVERY DAY and yet end up in shelter because either the owners couldn't take care of them, or the people they give them to weren't prepared for a pitbull. Unless you're a certified breeder, there is NO REASON you should be doing this.

@creach805 You seem to be a very caring owner. The puppy is well-cared for. I'm not categorizing you with people who raise them to be fighters or anything; I'm saying that it's irresponsible to breed more dogs when A. you're not a certified breeder, and B. there are too many dogs euthanized in shelters each year due to overpopulation. That is why spaying and neutering is pushed so hard by all sorts of animal groups, including the ASPCA. A responsible owner spays/neuters their dog.

All I was saying is that dogs should be spayed and neutered, and by breeding dogs that end up in shelter, one helps perpetuate the problem. If you are a responsible and certified breeder who keeps track of the dogs he breeds, then fine! What I took from this "unexpected litter" title was that you aren't exactly a certified breeder. I love APBT's and over-breeding has worsened their reps.

But think about this - if we rid the world of all dog breeders, and S/N every single animal, eventually there won't be any dogs left. I don't know about you, but I couldn't live in a world without animals - especially dogs. I'm all for responsible breeders who bring healthy dogs into the world, but puppy millers and money hungry breeders are another story..

@theamazingplant2 OMG, calm down. If a dog is unable to get S/N because of health problems, then of course they shouldn't be and instead be watched. However, it is VERY rare for spaying and neutering to have negative effects, and works the VAST majority of the time. I don't think creach805 is contributing directly to the overpopulation, but if a dog is healthy and able, they should be S/N. It is irresponsible not to do so if the dog is healthy. If it's money problems, DON'T GET A DOG.
