  • I get everything up to the point where he says, "If white chooses red, and its level < 9..." How does a color choose another color? Is it 1 out of 4 neighbors? 8 neighbors? Anyplace on the board? It has to be an extant pixel, else it wouldn't have a level of 0-9. But which one? What is level? Brightness? Saturation? Then he says it has a child. Where? And these colors each eat each other in a round-robin priority loop. But which neighbor(s) are you allowed to eat in one step of the automaton?
