I'd like to hear the other side of the story, cause it seems like you're a rude customer. I was on your side until you mentioned your "I deal with customers so I expect special service" mentality. That entitled mentality is often one of the main problems with rude customers. i don't know if that's the case, but it seems suspicious.
P.S. I fucking loathe the customers at my work. Just cause you spend a few bucks where I work doesn't mean they can wipe your ass with my shirt.
Terrible customer service is all too common nowadays.
I've had quite a few bad customer service experiences myself & I don't think its right to treat customers terribly because they are the very reason why you have a business.
Hi Candie, I live in the UK & it's the same in the nail shops here too!! It's like they're assembling identical dolls on a conveyor belt ! I don't do my nails anymore cos they WILL end up labelling me as the stereotypical vicious black woman (that i'm not) These people cant be bothered to learn basic English, but get huffy when you have a preference that differs to the next woman ! I feel your pain.
Girl my daughter and I went thru something very similar. This nail dude was giving my baby such attitude for no damn reason. She wanted a nail design and mr pissy snot put it on wrong. She told him it wasn't right & he sucked his teeth.. why oh why did he do that!! I went off on him so bad that his hair was moving from my breath! I dont conduct myself like that but that sucking of his teeth sent me to a dark place lol especially towards my daughter uh uh.
Girl you got me ROLLING!!! Imma need you not to be blowing his hair LMAO!!! I feel you too with the daughter girl I would have done the same thing lol!
He almost made me sign up for Korean lessons at the Learning Annex so I could go back and verbally assault him in his own language! lol Wouldn't it shock the hell out of them when they are talkin bout choo and a sistah start cussing them out in their language whooo lord I'd pay money to see that!
I work in customer service and have done for over 20 yrs and i have never served such rude, vile and ignorant bastards then i have in the last few years. Why do customers treat sales people as though they were shit, i even had a customer say that i was big headed when i was talking to them about a mobile phone..its my job for fucks sake. Would i go and have a go at a mechanic because he knows more about cars then i do....no
I work in guest service too!! and I treat everyone and anyone with the up most respect! and professionalism and I love doing what I do! Thank you for this comment!
I'm scared of you!!! : ) It is very annoying when people who you are paying to provide a service behave like they are doing you a favor and like you're wasting their time. Aside from basic customer service skills, what about treating people decently?
missed out on a big commision!!!! so, I went over to the MAC store in MACYS and bought the color!! but i wanted to buy more product for my propallete!!! Anyway, I was pissed, and that's not the first MAC store I went to and was treated with poor customer service. So, Gurlfriend service!!!! They need to be looking at my green dollars instead of My black skin YOU FEEL ME!!!I feel you on BAD
i told her some one took it and she acted like i stole the damn thing!!!! well i'm one of there best customers!!!!! then nthe gurl got nreally smart with me and told me she couldn;t open a box from the cabniet I told the gurl who knew me that I had been treated badly and to tell the gurl she customer
The MAC Store in Hiltop Mall in Richmond has crappy service most of the time. They always act like I am not coming to buy anything and never come over to help me unless I call for them.
so she opened one from the main supply cabinet!! so she went to do a make over and this other worker came and ask what did I need and i told her i wanted to see the color again and i told her wear to get it and sge looked at me like I was crazy!!
I thought about you and your bad customer service experience!!!!! I live in Northern Ca But prejudice is alive and well and goes hand in hand with bad customer serivice !!! I went to the MAC store in Concord,CA !! and i saw a gurl who worked there with this gorgeous eyeshadow and she told me the color but it was a pigment. and she couldn't find the display
I know just how you feel. I live in the Bahamas and I sometimes often wonder how the Bahamas makes it as a tourism country. However I notice that the customer service with tourist are different from the service with natives, which is horrible. As a result everywhere I go if there is bad customer service i speak about it and part of our problem is the small business, because we r such a small country everyone knows everyone so there is sometimes a friendly approach instead of a professional one.
I had a similar experiance once at a nail salon. Hon, I soooo empathize. By the way, I respect you so much for your composure and proffesionalism. I hate when someone is so snotty and picky when it comes to costumer service like the world revolves around them. I would have reacted the same exact way. (Although I may have actually slapped him though!) :) By the way, the nails look great on you. :)
Dude, EVERYTIME I go to a nail place I leave so pissed off. They are so cheap and will do anything to get a dollar out of you. Its not even worth going anymore..
Oh no! I am SO SORRY that you had to go through that experience with such a silly man! But, I love your personality and class and knowledge and your story made me wanna SUBSCRIBE, Gurl! I love your business savvy! Thanks for the video!
*head nods the whole video* Customer service is key. That is the way you are going to ensure you have a customer base that will repeatedly use your services or purchase your products. It makes a huge difference. We learned this in my job skills training courses years ago. I had a bad experience at a restaurant and although the location is convenient and the food was ok, I refuse to patronize a place that was unprofessional and showed disrespect to me as a customer. That's just the bottom line.
Preach!! I think people believe that customer service only exist in retail or over the telephone. Seriously. And nail salons are infamous for horrible customer service because people never complain..and like you mentioned, there is no real hierarchy in a small business. Not only that customers are expendable to those types of businesses.
Totally with you because I sell life insurance and work for a major insurer. Customer service is #1.
I wouldn't want to slander this company only because he's not the only one that work there:) Girl but it's not like I didn't want to! and the girl that finished them was really nice:)
girl this video is excellent..i was taught that the customer is right even if there wrong..you have to be humble and serve ppl the way you want to treated.he really wasnt performing service to you he was just being nasty..im glad you handle this situation good =)
amen!!! i have pretty much always worked with people and when you work with people you are part of customer service. if i go pretty much anywhere, i am always looking for at least a Hello, i can understand if they are busy with other people but if there is 5 sales people and 2 customers, and i dont get at least a hello, i will politely ask to speak with a manager.
yes this always happens, and its ridiculous....i dont like it when people make a mess with service, this is anywhere...and i want to receive FANTASTIC service if im paying MY money....i feel you girl!!
I can agree with that! thank you for your comment. Not all small business are that way but some of them are! and I run a large business and we do EVERYTHING!!! To keep a guest happy I know Im the manager:) Thank you again for your comment and support:) Not all big business's are the same either.
That is true. Not all small businesses are that way! But small businesses who realize what they need to do, and how to handle customers are usually the ones who have a fighting chance, especially in this economic climate.
customer service is so important...i try to shop in my neighborhood, but some of these folks just do not understand how to treat their customers..some folks own businesses to be the boss only, everything else doesn't matter...
You are totally right!! I'm also working in customer service and when something goes wrong I tend to be neutral and trying to find the best way to fix it (win-win) and definitely I wouldn't come back if I got a bad service even though the quality is good.... I'd rather find some other place....
I totally agree. I work in customer service as well and you are absolutely right. I have experienced the same issues when it comes to small businesses whether it be nails, hair or whatever. Customer service is very important, or I will never spend my money with that biz again who does not practice good customer service.
I have worked in customer service / retail 5 plus yrs and often notice customers seeme to want to often times abuse you they don't even want a product or a service,it's more about you being their punching bag for a bad day they had.I agree with everything you have said though
best thing we can do is stop patronizing fools like that. they get to come over to this country with no speaka english and easily get a loan for a nail shop. these people keep getting rich because people keep allowing them to. what really kills me is they talk in their language and can be calling u whatever, how unprofessional.
yep already know who ur talking about and it's a shame we keep patronizing these people and they keep getting rich. they talk over u in their language and could be calling u whatever. it's a shame not enough other nationalities don't do nails as much as them.
hey candie girl! i work in retail and you're right, customer service is top priority. in fact, i am manager of the store and if i have an associate that doesn't understand that basic principle right off, they are out the door! LOL--i have too many other things to be worried about trying to keep the store afloat; i don't need to have my customers ticked off because an associate doesn't know how to treat them! be blessed!
I feel you and for the most part I feel customer service is dead in arenas where people are overwhelmed by people. I feel you....TRUST ME! I hate terrible service because I am spending my hard earned money in their establishment.
I'm glad that more people are becoming customer service warriors! I work hard & refuse to let myself be mistreated anywhere. The one great thing is that no matter where I go, there is always another place that does the same thing! Sorry it sucked for you but I am so glad you stood your ground!
All customers should be treated with respect- R-E-S-P-E-C-T- There is no excuse for customer service reps that are rude or have a bad attitude. I hate it when a company defends the customer service rep that has been rude. I have received that treatment. or Blame the customer attitude- The Company is Always Right and the Customer Service is always wrong. When your concerns are dismissed or ignored, it can be Very Frustrating,
Candiee, i've been in this type of situtation before and i walked out. and i'm also in customer service and i would not treat anyone like he treated you or me or the next person.
Nice video and I respect your views, but keep in mind that they larger corporations started as a "small business", and one day YOU might own a "small business." For some reason there are people that feel that Small businesses are so desperate, that we have to take what ever is issued out to us to keep business and that is not true. I've dealt with larger corporations that had lousy Customer Service and to date they don't have my business. The guy you described was out of order.
Yes your right about the small businesses the large businesses did start off small, I guess what I'm to say is if you want to become a larger business then you should do what it take to get there that's all:) And yes your right about the larger businesses as well BUT! they can and will in most cases do something for you at least you can talk to a hire up! Thank you for your comment:) and support
I would have gotten up and left. I went to a salon in Middletown Connecticut and they left me sitting in the waiting area ( which incindentally is RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FACES ) and they forgot me. Oh HELL NO! I am not outting up aith that from ANY business. If you run/manage/own or WHATever...a salon. You need to be damn sure ALL those customers leave happy. Cause in todays market, you can go across the street for the same shit!
I've had a few of the same kind of run-ins! You have an amazingly gracious attitude! :) I would have been beyond p*ssed...and depending on my mood that day...may not have handled the situation that calmly. There is never an excuse for anyone providing a service to get violent (jerking of your hand) with the client. Anyone where I work would have been dismissed on the spot.
candiecc I love how you handled this situation. You didnt do the ghetto angry black women reaction. If you would've they would had alot of foul thinngs to say about you & our race. The way you acted that is how real women should act! Now if he would've called you out of your name & threw some hits at you, that's when your suppose to get buck wild. lol
Wow great advice! i have a online store, so this video helped me so much! (americanchic.ecrater . com ) lol. and yeah customer service man this is why i do things myself now, i do my own hair and nails, i try to learn how to do most things myself because i dont want to deal with triffling ass people, i can keep the tip money and use it for my online store lol
My son got into it with his boss because he told him that he was giving the customers too much customer service. Can you believe that? He works for a large chain.
I agree with you. Bad customer service ruins the whole shopping experience. I find the most horrible customer service at fast food establishments. I can't stand it when the drive through worker throws the bag of food through my window. It makes me so mad. And another thing that happens a lot is when I say thank you, they hardly ever say you're welcome. I always get "uh huh" or nothing at all.
By the way, you are very professional. I like that. More people should be like you. :)
I don't understand how some of these nail salons can have some of the most rude employees... I had a nasty nail tech last month...some of them act as if they don't want to service you or don't like to be corrected...and that irks me...
You go girl! I've worked in retail for some years and I KNOW what excellent customer service is like and it sucks so bad when you face someone who is so ignorant to The Golden Rule. Sometimes I hate goin to the "hood" Wal-mart or even nailshops just because I know they have horrible customer service. I have seriously driven across town just to avoid speakin somebody out! I feel you 100! 5 stars!
The US is so diverse, there are soo many diff cultures here & people w/ different languages & u should NEVER forget your culture HOWEVER being that the US is an English speaking country your only cripling yourself 2 all you can be or do here. If you learn English you wont be forgeting your culture! youll be 2x as good as ppl who only know 1. Ppl who dont speak English here wont be able 2 have as much opportunies, read, get better jobs, may even be taken advantage of.
that is a big pet peeve of mine as well. you live in a country that thank God accepts all walks of life and nationalities, but please learn the language! I wouldn't go over to China and freak out on them because they don't understand what i'm saying in English. That's disrespectful I think.
BTW, I love your car!!! :) and your nails are cute. :)
Oh girl! I feel you all to much! I would of taken that drmmel and drilled that ugly look right off his face! You are very professional and nice and I doubt that YOU were the one who got out of line, and if you did I'm sure he gave you damn good reason. Girl sometimes you gotta let em KNOW! YOU are paying them, if you want your nails 2 feet long and glow in the dark with diamonds they better make it happen!!
hi candie! im loving those earrings hun! its really bad when you have to regulate in a nail shop lol. i seriously dont blame you though, i wouldnt go back there either. im the same way and in some cases i will pay more for a good, drama free experience. these businesses really need to recognize!
Say you go to France and yeah, you know french... How rude would you be to be amongst other french people in a bistro eating lunch, and you bust out talking to your friend in English... how "rude" would that be? It's not... its about freedom of comfort and even if they assume you don't know the language and are talking about that (as some assume) that says more about them... don't sweat it. At the end of the day, you walk away being the same person you were when you woke up this morning.
hi phantomlyric! i wasnt saying that it was rude about the language but how he treated her. i dont have an issue with people staying true to their native tongue in their own establishment. i personally think it shows pride in their culture, but a smile is universal. but you are absolutely right about being the same person though. france is really beautiful, too. thank goodness i took french. :-)
Girl, we already know what kind of shop it was.LOL They are the only ones doing nails these days. They are always rude and talking in there language. If you are in the usa you need to learn english. We can make them or break them. Because all you see in those shops is us. So I know how you feel.
Most of them know the language. It's important to know the language (english) that's true, but they don't have to speak it in front of you just because you don't feel comfortable. The beautiful thing about this country is that we are allowed not to conform. I don't think that, because you're here, you have to forget where you came from. In many situations, even if you know english, it's a lot easier to speak your first language when speaking others who speak your language.
wow, ok, so like were you in VA, lol......I had the same thing happen at this one nail shop with a guy with stank attitude and IM like ohhhh no u r not going to be yanking my hand and then trying to drill on me too, noooo I had to request a new tech and I vowed never to return to that shop. You are so right good customer service means everything besides we were always taught that the customer is always right even though we know its not true :)
And guess what! the other people like yourself have nothing to do but watch them now what dose that say about you?? How do you know what the FU%$ I have to do?????????
Girl, I've been there in your situation before, and acted just like you. You're right, and you were right to get upset at him, etc!
Once, I even requested that the lady wash her hands before touching mine ('cuz she was eating and it smelled gross!) and she looked at me wrong and I walked out, haha! They were calling me later trying to get me to come in, lol!
I totally agree with what you said. While in high school i worked in retail where you needed to provide great customer service & even if other employees werent the best at it, I made sure I was...and from that training, i dont have a high tolerance for people...better yet someone who's job it is to provide service treat me like crap. I would have done everything you said, LOL!
This was a great video. I will always go for the customer service!! In this economy, when you spend your hard earned money on something you want to be treated right!!
Candie, this video needed to be made. I feel very strongly about this. When I worked, I delivered SUPERIOR customer service to all of my guests/customers. It does make a difference. Having been that way, I don't have a very high tolerance for people who display poor customer service. I'll call corporate in a heartbeat. LOL Thank you for making this.
ur welcome. my worst though was when i was @ the hairdresser for 5 hours. yup. my stylist was getting chicken from the rib crib, picking up her kids, all kinds of stuff. & my hair was 1/2 done. i had somewhere really impt to go. she permed it & cut it (a rough cut). i had to go back the following mon. i was HOT! i paid her though. didn't want 2 lose my spot in the shop. LOL but eventually i mustered up the courage to just keep it moving. felt like i lost my swagger b/c she LAID my curls right!
but eventually i moved on b/c she did not respect my TIME. nor did she appreciate my business. LOL a real shame b/c she is very talented. but when u KNOW ur the ish, u should still treat ur customers like gold! she could be making bigtime $ if she took a course in proper shop customer service. okaaaay?
All true! I work in customer service for a large corp. too so I know how I would like to be treated and I expect good customer service from representatives who service me.
I could see it in your face as soon as I clicked on that something was bothering you. Oh brother.
He's not in the right business. Maybe he needs to go back to the penatentary.
Customer service is a stickler for me. I have a low tolerance for poor service. I don't get ignorant or loud. I just don't give them my business anymore.
I had a horrible experience in a nail shop last week!! That broad MADE me show my ass. I was pissed, they are rude anyway, will say anything. One time one of them told my homegirl her baby's eyes were big. I've had one tell me that my hands are big like a man's!! WTF?! U know nail shop employees come and go. I feel u on both ends, I work customer service also.
that happned to me too i purchase alot on the internet too and my bank was on it they called me like the nest day so yeah you do have to carefull buying thingsover the internet
gurl I feel ya I'm 4'11 and look really young but I'm 29 yrs old but i look twelve i understand and feel you totally!!!! I tell them look in an asain accent youu dont do nail nice you get not payy or tipp for me!!!! ha ah ha and damn you tip too much 6 to 7 dollars give them a dollar then they will kiss your butt!!!
I'd like to hear the other side of the story, cause it seems like you're a rude customer. I was on your side until you mentioned your "I deal with customers so I expect special service" mentality. I see what you're saying about patronizing bigger business, but i have to disagree.
I'm all for dealing with small mom&pop businesses!
You're more apt to get a better deal when working with smaller business.
If you become an established customer, you again stand to reap a benefit.
If you have issue with the service or product, they're more apt to go out of their way to make it right.
Plus keeping money in your community is a plus for everyone.
With big business, you're a drop in the bucket,

I can agree with that! thank you for your comment. Not all small business are that way but some of them are! and I run a large business and we do EVERYTHING!!! To keep a guest happy I know Im the manager:) Thank you again for your comment and support:) Not all big business's are the same either.
candiecc 2 years ago
That is true. Not all small businesses are that way! But small businesses who realize what they need to do, and how to handle customers are usually the ones who have a fighting chance, especially in this economic climate.
SimplySLoan 2 years ago
Yeppers!!! You would think that this nail shop would feel that way??? I know I would if I had one:)

I concur... DO NOT GO TO RED LOBSTER IN DRBRN ON TELEGRAPH AND BE WAITED ON IN THE BAR AREA...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
lucillesbabe9 2 years ago
customer service is so important...i try to shop in my neighborhood, but some of these folks just do not understand how to treat their customers..some folks own businesses to be the boss only, everything else doesn't matter...

wow i really like you! smart woman! you speak so articulate.
ladydipset88 2 years ago
You are totally right!! I'm also working in customer service and when something goes wrong I tend to be neutral and trying to find the best way to fix it (win-win) and definitely I wouldn't come back if I got a bad service even though the quality is good.... I'd rather find some other place....

I fell out laughing around the 3:50 mark lmao! girl, you are TOO much! ;-)
LanaBana2931 2 years ago
I totally agree. I work in customer service as well and you are absolutely right. I have experienced the same issues when it comes to small businesses whether it be nails, hair or whatever. Customer service is very important, or I will never spend my money with that biz again who does not practice good customer service.
lucki247 2 years ago
I have worked in customer service / retail 5 plus yrs and often notice customers seeme to want to often times abuse you they don't even want a product or a service,it's more about you being their punching bag for a bad day they had.I agree with everything you have said though

best thing we can do is stop patronizing fools like that. they get to come over to this country with no speaka english and easily get a loan for a nail shop. these people keep getting rich because people keep allowing them to. what really kills me is they talk in their language and can be calling u whatever, how unprofessional.
lusciousnezz 2 years ago
yep already know who ur talking about and it's a shame we keep patronizing these people and they keep getting rich. they talk over u in their language and could be calling u whatever. it's a shame not enough other nationalities don't do nails as much as them.

hey candie girl! i work in retail and you're right, customer service is top priority. in fact, i am manager of the store and if i have an associate that doesn't understand that basic principle right off, they are out the door! LOL--i have too many other things to be worried about trying to keep the store afloat; i don't need to have my customers ticked off because an associate doesn't know how to treat them! be blessed!
janelporter 2 years ago
I feel you and for the most part I feel customer service is dead in arenas where people are overwhelmed by people. I feel you....TRUST ME! I hate terrible service because I am spending my hard earned money in their establishment.
Ameenah79 2 years ago
I'm glad that more people are becoming customer service warriors! I work hard & refuse to let myself be mistreated anywhere. The one great thing is that no matter where I go, there is always another place that does the same thing! Sorry it sucked for you but I am so glad you stood your ground!
Shalom & Blessings!

Yes your right! I think i was a tad bit pissed! LMAO!!! Not all:)
candiecc 2 years ago
Nice video and I respect your views, but keep in mind that they larger corporations started as a "small business", and one day YOU might own a "small business." For some reason there are people that feel that Small businesses are so desperate, that we have to take what ever is issued out to us to keep business and that is not true. I've dealt with larger corporations that had lousy Customer Service and to date they don't have my business. The guy you described was out of order.
CASHIEM2009 2 years ago

Anyone where I work would have been dismissed on the spot.

lmc1665 2 years ago
I agree with you. Bad customer service ruins the whole shopping experience. I find the most horrible customer service at fast food establishments. I can't stand it when the drive through worker throws the bag of food through my window. It makes me so mad. And another thing that happens a lot is when I say thank you, they hardly ever say you're welcome. I always get "uh huh" or nothing at all.
By the way, you are very professional. I like that. More people should be like you. :)
MACingyouup 2 years ago
My girl said, "Just for g.p."...lol
I don't understand how some of these nail salons can have some of the most rude employees... I had a nasty nail tech last month...some of them act as if they don't want to service you or don't like to be corrected...and that irks me...
msdrella 2 years ago

JoJoKitty1 2 years ago
that is a big pet peeve of mine as well. you live in a country that thank God accepts all walks of life and nationalities, but please learn the language!

PhantomLyric 2 years ago
hi phantomlyric! i wasnt saying that it was rude about the language but how he treated her. i dont have an issue with people staying true to their native tongue in their own establishment. i personally think it shows pride in their culture, but a smile is universal. but you are absolutely right about being the same person though. france is really beautiful, too. thank goodness i took french. :-)

PhantomLyric 2 years ago
Girl, we already know what kind of shop it was.LOL They are the only ones doing nails these days. They are always rude and talking in there language. If you are in the usa you need to learn english. We can make them or break them. Because all you see in those shops is us. So I know how you feel.
moeevehouston 2 years ago
Most of them know the language. It's important to know the language (english) that's true, but they don't have to speak it in front of you just because you don't feel comfortable. The beautiful thing about this country is that we are allowed not to conform. I don't think that, because you're here, you have to forget where you came from. In many situations, even if you know english, it's a lot easier to speak your first language when speaking others who speak your language.
PhantomLyric 2 years ago
wow, ok, so like were you in VA, lol......I had the same thing happen at this one nail shop with a guy with stank attitude and IM like ohhhh no u r not going to be yanking my hand and then trying to drill on me too, noooo I had to request a new tech and I vowed never to return to that shop. You are so right good customer service means everything besides we were always taught that the customer is always right even though we know its not true :)
