I am currently writing my final essay of the semester on Dr. Maathai, and just what little research I have done so far has been very inspiring. She is a great woman and I will try to do my very best in life as she would expect from any person.
I can almost hear n feel nature thanking her back for the fierce & relentless defence she put up on its behalf! Former President, Moi, could not even show up at her state burial! Well, I would also do the same in fear of public wrath as he never gave her breathing space, but instead embarrassed & hurt her badly! Oh God, vengeance is yours_u have seen this man who Satan sent to try but unsuccessfully finish your gift to the world, your world! May he encounter your fiercest backlash in the memory
Wangari Maathai is a true legend. An inspiration to the whole of Africa and beyond, iam truelly touched to see the courage she had by standing to what she beleived in and i just wish we could follow on to her footsteps and make the world a better place.R.I.P sister, mother, grandmother and a friend you really are my HERO!
I just heard now of Wangari Maathai's passing. A sad time indeed but what a legacy she has left which will live on. The world needs more people like her and beautiful Kenya is a better place for the gift she gave.
I was honored to meet Wangari Maathai in 2006, take a photo with her during her trip to Boston and learn more about her important work. She was a visionary champion who fought an uphill battle against powerful political forces who opposed her leadership. She won on many fronts and proved that women can lead in the fight to save the environment. May God bless her soul, and may she rest in peace.
Au323 you are a racist fool. This woman is a world environmentalist. What she was you will never been. For you to insult her on her death is beyond humanity.Go dig a hole and jump in it.You don't deserve to leave above ground.
The Nobel Peace Prize is an extra-ordinary achievement. So ladylordess if you don't like our President (US President), that's up to you. But as an American resident myself, I think this President has done alot to achieve that prize. Also, we are mourning Prof Wangari Maathai now, so this is not the forum for you to express your potitical dissatisfaction. I pray for Kenya and the world at this time of significant loss. Wangari was not only an environmentalist but also a role model. R.I.P Prof.
I used to think the Nobel Peace Prize meant something. Now that they have awarded it to a US President, who hadn't done anything up to that point to deserve it, and then not only continues the wars but starts another one, somehow makes the "prize" have no value, other than its monetary reward to the recipient.
we always love you maathai ,you are the only one who see the future of kenya than the corrupt kenyan mps that dolots of talk then less doing .R.I.P Maathai.
A selfless fighter for freedoms. I wish Kenyan politicians would be like her... the taxes we pay would be used well in the construction of dual carriageways on all major roads, help fight crime, make Kenya greener, ...
Not only was she an environmental conservative, but also one of the few leaders in Mt Kenya region who had independent mind, that was why she lost her parliamentary seat in 2007, a great African woman, you are in the group of Nelson Mandela,if it wasnt for you Karura forest wont be there, Uhuru park will be a commercial center, thank you for all you have done for Kenyans.
God Bless your soul and keep you in a very special place! You were a true Heroine who will forever be in our lives and hearts! Fought hard for the people and country you so loved! R.I.P Ms Mathaai!!
I cried tears of joy the day I saw her receive the Nobel peace prize. I will forever admire and respect her work and what she stood for. As I grew up in the late 80s and 90s, she dominated every sphere of our Kenyan life. In men we had Matiba, Rubia, Anyona but in women we had Maathai. May she rest in peace our ever smiling Laureate. Huroka wega Wangare witu.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE MENTAL PROBLEM either she died of whatever, God lest this wonderful woman of AFRIKA in peace, some of us in kenya we know what Professor have done for the whole world, i love her work we will mis her. Her work will remain ,
Crazy you-tubers! sure why do some morons have to bother asking what killed someone? this great african/kenyan died of cancer & even if its of any other ailment, death is death no matter how one dies.R.I.P mama environment, human rights, freedom e.c.t,you made the whole of Africa & Kenyan woman proud to be women.sure you're the greatest Kenyan that ever lived & we shall miss you Professor Wangare Mathai
May her soul rest in eternal peace....she was the true definition of a shero...even after Moi told her that her head was full of insects, she forged on...truly missed mama...
truly missed. it was in 1984 while in school started to plant trees for environment and peace, inspired by this great mother Wangari Maathai who won the Nobel Peace Prize later in the years. I met her in person at Ronald Regan Building in Washington DC and exchanged fond memories. She was a true leader and great inspiration and we will follow her footprints. Her spirit lives on.
