  • 5:08 primal scream to die for

  • My ever favourite song by Pete. Even more than his Genesis times (apart from the ones that Tony Banks himself wrote, of course, Tony Banks is God, we all know. :-))

  • Shame about the tape drag about 4 minutes in-great performance otherwise.

  • wow... what a great song... one of my favs.. never saw this footage... thanks

  • great song that makes reference to stephen biko and nelson mandela, as well as mental institutions

  • Excelent song, and eqaully excellent koncert.

Peter Gabriel touches me in ways no one else can.

Truly one of the last troubadores......

  • This song led directly to my support of Amnesty International for many years, all the way up to their recent decision that pro-life policies in any country in the world constitute oppression of women which is apparently the equivalent somehow of their being political prisoners. A sad swerve off-course for a great international lobbying public-opinion-shaping organization. Maybe the political prisoner issue was no longer bringing in enough cash. But anyway, this is an excellent song.

  • I agree that "pro-life" policies constitute the oppression of women. I don't see how rape victims should be forced to have the child, along with women with health issues. I think the whole thing is rather silly actually - a republican government will frown on abortion, but they'd definitely be up for a war!

  • @nicck I love when pro-choicers use rape as an excuse for abortion when it is such a small portion of all abortions. How about trying to prevent those rapes by surgically castrating the rapists as a punishment. But you're probably not in support of that either.

As far as your point on war, you're right we really need to stay out of other peoples affairs unless ourselves or our allies are attacked, or our interests are in jeopardy.

  • @kalithma Yeah sure, castrate them...I don't care for rapists. I do care for innocent people who can't handle the burden of a child, or the emotional distress of having to hand that child away. It's a foetus, stop crying over the trivial things because you'll just be disappointed.

  • Thank you for posting this!! Peter is a genius!!!!!!

  • in europe the album is simply namned peter gabriel.....was the fourth album in a serie that was all namned peter gabriel...his next album SO got its name as a anti-name, he was forced to give it a name by his record company due to stupid american market that demanded a name........

  • This album, Security , was released in 1982 -- I bought it and was immediately enamoured with the entire content. I bought the cd when cds were a new item, in 1984, and only a few audiophiles had cd players. Amazing album -- I encourage all to listen to the entire album, sitting in the dark on the couch in comfort.

  • Larry, to me, was a very big part of my favorite times with Peter.

  • very eerie but its even better on the album

  • One of his best. I always wonder why he didn`t play it on the later tours

  • IMO because it's a too easy song. too easy emotions for our heavy-brained Peter.

  • good point, I miss larry fast.

  • Peter is probably the most important artist in all of 'modern' music since the Beatles. Not only is his music an incredible blend of would-wide influences, but as a man and humanitarian. Words fall far short of experiencing this man and his music.

  • 100% right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ahh pete, to many bevies sir

  • Tony Levin, just behind Gabriel, are dubbing his bass lines with a Moog Source synthesizer. Very interesting ! Thanks for the video!

  • my favorite song ever

  • I wish there was a version of this posted that was more clear. This song is timeless song.

  • I'M lovin' Levin's bass playing/keyboard combo in the background!

  • Great song and i seldom saw the live version.

    Tanks for posting it

  • you can here in this song where micheal stipe from REM got the idea of everybody hurts from.

Genesis reunion...With peter gabriel..I was a tot in the 70s so yes please...

  • Security was Gabriel's greatest work since the Lamb, and reamins his greatest solo work to date... but there's always the next album (or the REAL Genesis reunion? )

  • I always liked his second album a lot.

  • @scouserfourteen yes, please reunion

  • Beautiful song from an absolutely fantastic 80s album. Even though Security sounds dated, it is still a great record.

  • It doesn't sound dated to me.

  • Dated is not necessarily bad. I'm just saying, it doesn't pack the technical impact it did when it was released back then, when it sounded completely unique and fresh.

  • You're right. Some of the sounds or drum machine. My music in the mid 80s is guilty of that. Check it out sometime. Search for "The Drumbones".

  • yeah, i'm still playing with my garden hose

  • Really an amazing song - it's my third favorite, behind 'Here Comes the Flood' and 'Family Snapshot'

  • @pegasusgiraffe you have great taste my friend :) my 3 favourites also. But there are many others.... Solisbury Hill, Games without Frontiers, Mother of Violence, San Jacinto, The Rhythm of the Heat, Signal to Noise, Intruder, Father, Son..... to name a few... and the AMAZING 'Another Day' (Roy Harper song) with Kate Bush (never released, but easily accessed via youtube)

  • Favorite

  • Ditto, an all time favourite Gabriel song - out of so many - thanks for posting this, brilliant!

  • One of my alltime favourites

  • Way to go again!
