ignoramuses abound. Schneider wrote a paper in 1971 about aerosols and CO2, which estimated climate change from aerosol increase (cooling), and from CO2 increase (warming). Although the paper estimated how much aerosol increase might trigger an ice age, it made no predictions as to whether such a change was likely. 40 years have passed, and knowledge has improved on these metrics. Schneider followed the science to where it led. His critics prefer to dwell in the past.

Not once did he state that CO2 causes warming. The reason is that at the time he thought it caused coolng. The big scare back then was a new ice age, and Schnieder was one of those propagating the scare. In fact he published a book about this at the time.

@zzebowa No, he was a co-author of a paper in 1971 that predicted a potential significant cooling based on a simple computer model. The debate and publicity that this triggered led him to re-investigate his findings and he published a retraction in 1974.

@Cornour No they havent. Go look at the raw data. You will se that much of the southern hemisphere is colder in the last 50 years, and the warming that has occured in the northern hemisphere is not as great as in he 1930's.
