Anthropogenic global warming (AGW) deniers need to be rounded up, thrown into prison, and if necessary executed, for treason against the United States of America and for crimes against humanity, for interfering with our War Against Climate Change.
@mphello you're showing some serious totalitarian leanings. They want any opposition to their emerging regime silenced using any means necessary. This is the kind of talk that the world should've heeded regarding Nazism in the 30s.
ignoramuses abound. Schneider wrote a paper in 1971 about aerosols and CO2, which estimated climate change from aerosol increase (cooling), and from CO2 increase (warming). Although the paper estimated how much aerosol increase might trigger an ice age, it made no predictions as to whether such a change was likely. 40 years have passed, and knowledge has improved on these metrics. Schneider followed the science to where it led. His critics prefer to dwell in the past.
"Many do not believe that scientists should simply try to tell it like it is. For example, climatologist Stephen Schneider - who has been the most vigorous academic proponent of the view that the planet is warming due to CO2 and other emissions, and that governments should intervene in individual's lives to change the course of events - takes this position:
.
"[...] we are not just scientists but human beings as well. And like most people
""we'd like to see the world a better place, which in this context translates into our working to reduce the risk of potentially disastrous climatic change. To do this we need to get some broad-based support, to capture the public's imagination. That, of course, entails getting loads of media coverage. So we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have.""
@zzebowa said: "The big scare back then was a new ice age, and Schnieder was one of those propagating the scare." and " southern hemisphere is colder in the last 50 years, and the warming that has occured in the northern hemisphere is not as great as in he 1930's. " Deniers have no qualms about throwing away their honor to pull something like this out of their ass. These are irrational deniers of evidence not skeptics. That's why they must invent lies like this.
Not once did he state that CO2 causes warming. The reason is that at the time he thought it caused coolng. The big scare back then was a new ice age, and Schnieder was one of those propagating the scare. In fact he published a book about this at the time.
@zzebowa No, he was a co-author of a paper in 1971 that predicted a potential significant cooling based on a simple computer model. The debate and publicity that this triggered led him to re-investigate his findings and he published a retraction in 1974.
Or learn about Fourier, Tyndall, Arrhenius, Callendar... They're the pioneers of the theory. Of course, back then, they were already in the big global governance eco-communist nazi conspiracy, right?
@sadmaniskillingyou of really? What kinda liar he was if the last 10 years have been by far the hottest in the history of temperature recording? I hope they THROW YOU IN SCHOOL, so instead of being a sad (and ingnorant) man killing truth, you would be a little happier and less testosterone loaded than you appear being now.
@Cornour No they havent. Go look at the raw data. You will se that much of the southern hemisphere is colder in the last 50 years, and the warming that has occured in the northern hemisphere is not as great as in he 1930's.

I think that, if being a liar was sending you to jail, then the prisons would be more than overcrowded.
