I love the sound of that L5 at 2:46...beautiful.I remember him in a Guitar Player interview from '04...talking about getting an L5,but instead picking up a newer competing archtop...I'm glad he went the real way in the end!

I've seen some of his live stuff where he literally just busted out a george benson sorta crazy jazz thing out of nowhere for a few minutes and went into his own stuff. When I saw him in Irvine he did a nice smooth jazzy interpretation jam of one of his own songs for about 8 minutes with his sax player and it was nice. He has definitely been shaped a bit more in jazz, but more of a mixed sort of way.

I don't mean I don't love that guitar for clean tones as jazz and bossa, but you've gotta try it with a slight distortion, it's like distorting an acoustic guitar like john butler does. The way this guitar resonates makes it amazing for getting many types of tone...
