All these kids talkin about how this shot is nothing. I am going to assume that 90% of them have either, never fired a real gun OR got their 500 yard shot on a game. Kids get real, 500 yards is not the hardest shot but its not the easiest. And for all of you talking about Marine quals. I went to Parris Island over the summer, its a 200 yard range. 100 yards, 10 rounds on target consistent and you get your badge. No sights, no bi-pod, just sling and eye.
You people are something else. This guy made a good shot. Nobody cares that you had to qualify at 500 yards with iron sights. Guess it was uphill both ways and snowing at night while you had pink eye! Get a grip people.
id like to commend you guys for your efforts.in the marine corp we use to shoot without a scope and bi-pod at 500 yards useing just our sling to steady the weapon..so with all this added equipment at least try 800 to 1000 yards, then ya got braggin rights...
Hey thats pretty good but u should put that gun to the test and try 600 700 800 mabey even 900 or 1000 but you will make sure that make some wind adjust ments first tho. isnt it an awsome feeling hitting a target at that range if was tripin out the other day when i was shooting a steel plate and cans of spray paint with my .223 howa/axiom at 500 yards but i dont think i will be able to do much farter than that because that little .223 at 500 yards is loosing allot of energy
what no zoom on that thing? You cant enen see the plate. You can hear a ping that it. If you wont to see a good video go to(500 yard shot) and look at Beedle 13
It is a good shot and nobody cares if you could do it better or not. Post a video of you doing it better and then you can come and write about it, but until then keep your comments to yourself.
yes, but you get scored differantly, if you are a sniper, you must hit center chest or other places, and also his bullet is traveling slower than yours.
ya but can you hit a 18in plate @ 500 yards (yall shoot at human sized targets in bootcamp) - also add 300 yards too that then come talk to me about no big accomplishment
@HatrXx78 a human size target is much bigger then an 18" steel plate. Sure its a hard shot but the human torso for an adult is like 2 1/2 x3 ft. depending on the person
@baconator490 sigh... the plate being 18" versus 24" for a human torso makes little difference. Especially when we are talking about using IRON sights and he is here with a bolt action and a scope on a bi-pod. I stand by my original statement... no big accomplishment.
I was a marine and we DID qualify from the 500 yard line with an m16 firing 55 grain FMJ's at 500 yards with iron sights. And we did get scored on hits. Center chest being the more than an arm shot. Which is how we get scored.
Why would you make such an accusation? that retarded. And obviously only you would do something like that. (psh... these idiots will never stop on youtube will they!)
The fact that he hit it is all that matters. I dont see how long it takes to dial in the scope and how ever your trying to apply it matters. The point is he hit it didn't he? It doesn't matter if it took 100 years or a minute to dial it in. He hit it that was my point, Thats all thank you.

@ghostriderusmc agreed, not only that, the bullet we used is the 5.56mm. I believe its 62grains. And some of that shooting is in full value.
