  • Oh my God you are making me crazy....impossible not to love you !!!!!!!!

  • What a beautiful version of a beautiful song by a truly mind blowingly gorgeous and talented singer! It's a shame it's only 40 seconds long - hopefully she'll record a full version soon!

  • She's the perfect woman

  • I wonder if... there's anybody else that wish to have this song sang by this welsh godess, in its lenght. Not just as a commercial! Now, I also know, that Katherine Jenkins, reads some of the comments posted about her work thru YouTube. If that is true, please gift us with that. Would you? What I like the most about this version, was the slow pace, and also, your enthusiasm.I saw the original singer from this song, but I didn't like it at all. This was the first time that I liked it. Thanks

  • fantastic!!!!

is there the full version of this song??

  • I've not been interested in opera over the years, however in recent times, I've become very interested, wholly due to listening to Katherine Jenkins. In my opinion she is a wonderfully gifted singer and performer. Reading some of the negative comment below does not change my view of Katherine, but, does make me wonder, as to the persons writing them. Is it not a British disease to pull apart, split hairs, nit-pick and generally critisize anyone whom achieve a degree of success? I think so.

  • I like it! Oldies are the best!

  • @AncientGP such a change in song type.

I have seen her so O sole mio same song different language and tempo. JS Bach loved to be copied as it gave him prominence. And AncientGP, Some people have the ability to sing most songs and I think she should not limit herself.

  • @TrevMagnus "...same song different language..."

No, you are confusing with Elvis Presley's "It's now or Never". That was "O Sole Mio". "I only want to be with you" was Dusty Springfield from the mid 60's.

  • I think I appreciate Mary O'Brian much better after this.

  • @bjou520 But Katherine so much prettier.

  • sum ppl have it and sum ppl dont and i tell ya now she got it!!!! thats 1 fing 4 sure shes just amazin luv her voice and shes a very pretty lady!! all the haters...if ya dont lyk her then dont watch her vids!!!

  • hey;scruf05..come visit South Wales.. gorgeous women here..thats where the thee women you mention come from..

  • she is celtic , most celts are good looking and can sing ,full of history and culture, the original britons. i visited wales last year, friendly people too, different mentality to the english

  • That's interesting. Yeah, I noticed she has a friendly persona about her and I like it. If she turns to the Lord God then she can marry me any day. Right now she'd be in my top 5 woman from around the world that I'd love to marry.

  • Katherine, you should release this as a single. I can't stop playing it and you look soooo..cute!

  • I have to disagree, as I think Katherine Jenkins can sing opera.

  • Are all Welsh women this good looking?

  • go to wales and find out for your self

i did and trust me ther not

the 3 welsh women i can think of are katherine jenkins charlote church and katherine zeter jones there all as good as they seem but the rest are weirdo's (although i did go to north wales)

  • Hey thanks for that info. Interesting. Hey, I'm around weirdo's all day where I live so I'd be no stranger to it. But yeah, she's def. one of the best looking woman in the world for sure. Truly beautiful.

  • yep

  • she can sing anything and it will always will be thrilling...

  • It's AWESOME! She's doing BETTER this way !

  • I hope this is the route she takes,

The Classical fans complain about how she doesn't breath right or doesn't sound like Sarah Brightman or Celine Dion.

Her popular fans just buy her CDs and got to her concerts and are making her rich.

I know what I would do!

  • OMG THIS IS AWESOME!

Katherine needs to do some pop songs!

  • quite simply, this gorgeous Welsh soprano needs to release this in full !!!

  • Short and sweet :) Maybe she will somewhat abandon her light classical and opera leanings (more than she has already) in the future for a more upbeat pop sound, this short video certainly shows she has the vocal chops for it and I would be inclined to buy a full version of this effort; of course, I already own most of her recordings so I am a little biased ;)

  • does anyone know where i might download this from many thanks oh by can't wit to see her again in june

  • great

  • be still my heart

  • lol

  • I think that if she recorded a full version, it might even be better than Dusty's.

  • Sorry guys ... I'm not sure, but I think (unfortunately) Katherine never recorded the full version of this song. This take was done for a television advert for the Rugby. I wish it was available as a full version.

  • Holy Shi!t! lol. I have the full version of this song. It's a slower version and just as beautiful. I've had for a while. Try Limewire. I think Vonda Sheppard also did a version for an Ally McBeal.

mezzo-soprano according to my uncle who is heavily into the opera scene.

  • Ugh... she's not a soprano, you might want to edit your video info!

  • nice clear singing voice!

  • Only forty seconds...!?

  • Hi would somebody be able to tell me if it's possible to download the full and where i might get it from? so looking forward to seeing her perform next week, Katherine you have the most amazing voice.

  • Very funny argument. The child from USA and the teen from UK. Dissent apart, no doubt this Welsh singer is a stunning beauty, sings pretty well and knows Italian, French, Russian and German, or at least studied them! Another wonder from Wales is Bonnie Tyler... Besides, French is said to be a nasal tongue, and is perhaps the most beautiful tongue in the world. I've heard people saying the English from the USA is too nasal... Please don't take the wrong meaning of the word.

  • and you talk out your bum ;)

  • PMSL

  • wow! she sounds so different here!!!! I wish i was welsh so that i can sing melodic like her! haha... but wow! she can sing nearly anything! Truely my idol! xxxx

  • why so short,.......................

  • I'm sorry, but Katherine is not a soprano... She says she's a mezzo, altought some still doubt it, he he. Her voice is so different here, thanks for posting this.

  • Quite simply the Perfect woman.

  • GREAT, i like her normal singing copared to her opera but i LOVE her opera voice as well....lol, does she have an album out??

  • She has like 5 albums out lol, i think shes just completed her 6th, but dont quote me on that.

  • she is a mezzosoprano!!!!!!

  • Have you heard her chest voice? There's no way she is a mezzo, if she is a mezzo she is a light lyric mezzo almost like a soubrette soprano.

  • she is definitely a mezzo-soprano, hayley westenra is a soprano singer - they have slightly different styles, but katherine is def. a mezzo

  • Then where is the rich middle register?

  • mezzo-soprano is the rich middle register - female voices are soprano, mezzo-soprano and alto

  • I know that...and she is not a mezzo soprano, her middle voice is exactly like that of a lyrical soprano, and her low notes are rather bad, her high notes are rather bad too. She is a lyrical soprano without high notes basically.

  • That's amazing! I love it.

Can I listen the entire song?

  • Unfortunately for us, this is a promotion for her country in the Six Nations Rugby.

Your right in it being a great sound and I think she should do a cd with these type of songs on, I'm sure it would be a big seller.

  • Shes Great At That I love Anything She Does Though!!

  • whoooaaaa.. thats amazing.. she sounds so different lol

  • This is so much better for her than trying to sing anything classical or operatic.

  • I think Katherine's position at the top of the Classical charts is assured . . . classical music is what she trained for, what moves her, and which remains her first love

  • I don't think helenmrice's comment deserved the thumbs down, we all have differing tastes and you have to admit, this is a great version showing she can do pop as well as her normal wonderful stuff.

  • That was an excellent version

  • dusty springfield7/10,bay city rollers 9/10,tourists8/10,sam fox4/10,katherine11/10

  • That's how I would score it as well.

She just goes from strength to strength, and now she is the 'official' forces sweetheart having taken over form Dame Vera Lynne.

  • Absolutely true . . . the world is katherine's oyster :-)

  • talent and youth and so genuine and sincere.

  • You forgot Vonda Shepard..and don't say..who ?

  • booyaka

  • love her

  • Hello, cn u please tell me what the songs called, thanks, lol

  • It's called i only wanna be with you, first sung by dusty springfield.

  • Is it available to buy.

  • I like Katherine Jenkins singing this way far better than when she's sticking her freakin tongue down her throat to make her sound like a mezzo. She needs to stop raising her soft palate-it gives her such a fake mezzo-soprano sound

  • this is the best I've heard KJ sing!

  • Squid101,

I've been hunting for a while. I'm pretty sure that I have found it. It seems to me that the original is being used for music background in a Doctor Who video. I'm not absolutely sure but that's it, but I'd give it a probability of 80%. I was wrong - it is better than the Katherine Jenkins version, but it's probably in octaves that she can't reach.

Anyway if you're interested it's on the top of My Favorites

    Gerry

  • She's like Charolette Church trying to get into mainstream music...I suppose that's where the money is! You can tell her voice is too good to sing pop songs...and it does not sound right. she might be better off getting together with ES Posthumus

  • I think the problem is that she is singing everything in semi-operatic style and needs to shake off the way her training is making her do this. I think this is why some react so negatively towards her. Bryn Terfef is only operatically trained singer I can think of who can seem to adapt with ease to popular material.

  • I really don't think her voice can go down to the proper range for this old American rock song (my high school days - my country in this case :-). I grew up with the original and this version beats it hands down. However, it is not a great song for her to be attempting. It's also less operatic than many of her other crossover attempts. She's getting better at it.

  • It is less operatic than many of songs, that is true.

    The original is Dusty Springfield:

    MczZzJ-jy5c

    QSL2V__lX-g

At the top of my favourites too, now, if it is easier to get at them that way. I think the Dr Who version is her too, but in the links I give you see here performing it.

  • I'm sure that I heard this song before she was on the scene. But then that is an old memory and it could be wrong. :-)

  • It could be right too, I have no certain memory that Springfield was the first to sing it or that she wrote it. She was the first -- that I recall -- to make a big hit of it, but that is a memory going back a few years too.

  • I think that Wikipedia is correct and that Dusty Springfield was the first to perform this song. Realizing that I played rhythm or lead guitar, and that I have perfect pitch. I tune spark plugs by ear and then check my results with a gapper. That last step has always verified my ear. This original wasn't the song that I heard. Since she was pre-Beatles, the company that pressed this song must have used an American band's cover. It was far better than Dusty's version.

  • Katherrific, lovely smile. 'y nghariad i, x

  • ı love youuuu

  • I only want to be with you too Katherine

  • excellent merci from Berlin

  • this song seems familiar, but i forget the title...anybody could tell me what the title is..Rock jenkins beautiful girl and nice voice too

  • "I Only Want To Be With You" was originally done by Dusty Springfield.

  • Stunning, in every aspect.

  • Love her!

  • This is awful.

  • that is because you are listening with your ears...try listening with your eyes!

  • eh...it's okay

  • That was great, but too short!

  • Delicious!

  • Excellent, but I'd love to hear her singing the full version.

  • Rambunctious!

  • Scrumptious!

  • Bendigedig!!

  • wuhoo! I LOVE Katherine!!! Omgosh, she's got SUCH a great voice!

  • Um... she's not a soprano, she's a mezzo-soprano, and a lovely one at that!!!

  • what's a mezzo-soprano? somebody between alto and soprano? my church choir instructor once said i was a soprano...anyone know what's above soprano? mail me

  • Mezzo-sopranos are the voice type between alto and soprano. Soprano is the highest voice type. Nothing can be higher than soprano.

  • actually mezzo-soprano's can have the same range as a soprano...many do in fact. it ususally has nothing to do with range. it's about the difference in vocal quality (but mezzo's voice obviously rest well in lower pieces).

  • Most people can sing outside their normal range... But people are classified, I thought, on the range they are most comfortable in.

  • ppl are classified by range (soprano alto tenor bass) but mezzo-soprano has do more with timbre than range. mezzos have richer voices and sopranos have lighter voices. if you look into it a meezo soprano essentially is a soprano...however they sing often sing in their middle (mezzo in Italian) b/c their dark timbre's are complemented well in that range. soprano's don't sound as full in their lower ranges.

  • Wikipedia has a lot of guff, but I haven't digested it. They divide sopranos into different types -- lyric, soubrette, etc. Charlotte Church was soprano and not mezzo, I suppose. And the Celtic Woman and Hayley Westenra are lighter?

  • yeah, i've read that page many times b4! i try not to restrcit myself as a singer by calling myself a lyric or a dramatic etc. however!

  • That's fair enough. I was just wondering if there are clear cut examples of each of the Wiki types that would give me an idea what they mean. Or whether, as I suspect, the distinctions are a bit dubious. That we can draw a clear distinction between a mezzo and a soprano is true I believe.

  • Of course there's a difference....or are you a bit deaf?

  • I'm not completely sure but I think I was once told that a young choir boy can sing higher than a soprano.

  • That would depend on the soprano wouldn't it? The average choir boy higher than the average soprano? Hmmmm. There are a couple of vids here that feature Hayley Westenra singing with choir boys that give an interesting contrast. Some twerps were joking that they sounded more like girls than she did.

  • .....a mae hi'n gallu siarad cymraeg hefyd! (and she can speak Welsh too)

  • of a sort!!!
