I personally do not care at all for these. I have nothing to hide, you can't see the faces or any real details and its quick. If they spot things, they'll only pat down that area. I had my ankles patted down once, but I wore jeans with zippers at the ankles. TSA is doing their job, not being perverted. If you feel you are wrongly patted down, bring that up with their manager, but don't attack TSA overall. The machines should, however, be made so that the radiation dosages are lower.
i work with TSA. alot of passengers dont have any idea how many flights fly threw the airports on a daily basis!!! TSA personnel do not have the time to focus on each of you personally! we are trained to do our job and follow procedure. would you rather pass through a machine or have another person pat you down? either way you have to be checked! just take a few minutes out of your life to follow procedure. anyone can be a terrorist these days and its better to be safe than sorry!

@PullenJoe TSA does not check everyone using the same procedure. Flights to certain locations receive certain treatment. Some people go thru scanners and some go through a puffer machine and others get both the pat down & scanner. For example, at my airport all New York passengers must go through a big puffer machine to check for explosives. When you pass the security its a process (as with everything in America). As long as you follow the procedures everything will run smoothly!

I particularly like the idea of pat downs and full body scans. It ensures my safety when I board a plane. Body scanner don't cause cancer, and they don't damage your DNA. Learn the difference between ionizing radiation (like X-Rays, which will damage DNA) and non-ionizing radiation (like what is used in body scanners.)
Flying exposes you to high levels of ionizing radiation (because there is a lot less atmosphere at high altitudes to screen out the ionizing radiation from the sun.) So if you are worried about ionizing radiation and DNA damage, DON'T FLY.
@potter99945 Absolutely untrue. Almost none of the machines use XRAY. If it's an open machine, it doesn't use xrays. If it's fully enclosed, it is xray (so if there's a door you have to close behind you, it's xray.) I travel over 250,000 miles a year, and I've still not seen an xray based machine at any airports.
Would you want to be on a flight that has passengers that opted out and may be hiding some bomb or weapon? The TSA is not implementing this such xray vision in order to see our Hoo Ha's, but to keep up safe from terrorist. So trim your pubics, clean your butts, get in shape and shake what ya got. I personally do not care at all for these. I have nothing to hide, you can't see the faces or any real details and its quick. If they spot things, they'll only pat down that area. I had my ankles patted down once, but I wore jeans with zippers at the ankles. TSA is doing their job, not being perverted. If you feel you are wrongly patted down, bring that up with their manager, but don't attack TSA overall. The machines should, however, be made so that the radiation dosages are lower.

i work with TSA. alot of passengers dont have any idea how many flights fly threw the airports on a daily basis!!! TSA personnel do not have the time to focus on each of you personally! we are trained to do our job and follow procedure. would you rather pass through a machine or have another person pat you down? either way you have to be checked! just take a few minutes out of your life to follow procedure. anyone can be a terrorist these days and its better to be safe than sorry!

@PullenJoe TSA does not check everyone using the same procedure. Flights to certain locations receive certain treatment. Some people go thru scanners and some go through a puffer machine and others get both the pat down & scanner. For example, at my airport all New York passengers must go through a big puffer machine to check for explosives. When you pass the security its a process (as with everything in America). As long as you follow the procedures everything will run smoothly!

They have bomb sniffing dogs.. When they suspect a place of having a bomb, the FBI doesn't send in bodyscanners.. They send in bomb sniffing dogs which can show you exactly where a bomb is because they smell amazingly well and are trained to smell the chemicals used in explosives. These are much cheaper and much more accurate. This is obviously about business, (Chertoff..) and training the people to further have their rights taken away, to see what we'll take, in the name of 'security' ..

O.K. people, lets think logically for a second. These scanners CAN see though clothing, but NOT bodily tissue. This means that I can fill a condom will either C4 or Semtex explosives, and insert it in my anus. But, because when I stand still my but-cheeks close completely, anything hidden inside cannot be seen on the scan, thus rendering it useless for such a scenario. The simple fact is that you don't have a "right" to fly on an airplane, any more than I have a "right" to make you drive me to work. If you don't like it, you get to chose from many other modes of transportation. Bus, train, drive, walk, hitchike, etc. Each of these methods have varied costs, time constraints, and levels of risk. If 1/10 of the energy spent on the indignation present in the politically correct world was spent finding ways to help our communities, imagine the possibilities.

I particularly like the idea of pat downs and full body scans. It ensures my safety when I board a plane. To those people who find it offensive, wouldn't you be very grateful if the scanner or pat down detected a bomb that was destined to be in your plane? Granted the odds are high that it would happen, but just saving one life is worth the extra security in force to protect our safety.

Body scanner don't cause cancer, and they don't damage your DNA. Learn the difference between ionizing radiation (like X-Rays, which will damage DNA) and non-ionizing radiation (like what is used in body scanners.)
Flying exposes you to high levels of ionizing radiation (because there is a lot less atmosphere at high altitudes to screen out the ionizing radiation from the sun.) So if you are worried about ionizing radiation and DNA damage, DON'T FLY.

@potter99945 Absolutely untrue. Almost none of the machines use XRAY. If it's an open machine, it doesn't use xrays. If it's fully enclosed, it is xray (so if there's a door you have to close behind you, it's xray.) I travel over 250,000 miles a year, and I've still not seen an xray based machine at any airports.

Would you want to be on a flight that has passengers that opted out and may be hiding some bomb or weapon? The TSA is not implementing this such xray vision in order to see our Hoo Ha's, but to keep up safe from terrorist. So trim your pubics, clean your butts, get in shape and shake what ya got. @Producerdude44 There haven't BEEN any studies examining cancer rates and these x-ray scans, because government won't fund these studies and they would have to be longitudinal (over several years). What we do know is that X-ray radiation has been linked to cancer.
