also for shoulder pain you should squeeze your shoulder blades and poke out your chest it will give you a small arc in your back giving you more power and less pain after 8,6,4 i lift to failure from 225 also incline decline bicep workouts on those days
hey guys ive been training 4 days a week and everyday i have the bench press workout for 3 sets 8,6,4 reps the trick to this is to rep at 50% of your max for 8 reps then 65% for 6 reps then the HEAVY Struggling reps 80% max for 4 reps i go up anywhere from 10-20 pounds a week not lying just try it for a month you will be benching 315 in no time no matter your size i went from 225 to 365 in 1 month 2 weeks
i am wondering, what's your body weight?my body weight is 156lbs and i am pressing 286lbs now. i'm also training chest 2times a week : one day 5x5 with 242 and second day 3x3 with 264. could you please give me some advices? i would be very greatfull.
Problem is that I do the whole shit alone. Nobody is squating etc. Fuck that shit, I will do it alone and I wil grow until I wil look like Swarchenegger/
@QuasiTJ so its bad to press everyday? im new to bench pressing need some1 to tell me what to do? i run 3 miles a day though but new to weight lifting..
@superbeast250 overtraining, the other days of the week should be used to train accesory muscles (lats, shoulders, etc). Google "how often to bench" for a better explanation.
@superbeast250 Benching every day of the week (Or any workout every day) will tire and strain the muscle involved, thus making you weaker and hurting instead of helping you, I workout only during the week and bench heavy only 3 or 4 times a week while working other muscles between days to give my upper body (Mainly what im training right now) a variety of strength instead of tired pecs, sholders and biceps.
I have been hitting the bench every other day for 1.5 years now and I've stopped getting stronger and started getting weaker! IDK what the fuck is going on. I always push myself and I'm usually feelin it on my rest day. I currently weigh 180 and bench 230. (IDK if that's above avg) but my goal is to bench 315 and still remain isometricaly strong (if not stronger) does anyone have any tips? I'd really appreciate any help.
when i started benching i never really worked out before so i quickly realised i was very weak haha i started benching a heavy 70lbs haha so ive been benching about 6 months and now i can bench what i feel is a respectable 135lbs. my question is ive hit a plateu and i havent added any more weight in over a month. any tips or input on how to keep upping that number?
ive upped my protein intake, lowered my carbs, almost cutting bread altogether, and i think im over the plateu, I benched 140 on tuesday.. o yea i am 22yo about 5'11 and am 165lbs. ive ben doing alot more research and read that throwing in 1/4 or 1/2 movements will help too(pretty much what that foam thing you have there is used for).
@indulgence88 to build muscle involves tearing them up, and your body literally replacing them with stronger, tougher muscle. To do this requires a lot of strain on your body, so like for me. I can currently bench about 230 lbs as a max, to build muscle, and get stronger, I would work at around 90 - 95% of my max, and do small sets of 2 - 3
Again good stuff Craig. Thanks for the advice and the honesty. I liked the comments on the shoulder. I think I now know how I got a slight shoulder injury on my left side.
@PhaKyu75 start off with light weights and pracyice keeping it straight. form is everything. doesnt matter how much you bench if you dont have good form or technique you wont gain anything
HERO! Thanks for another great vid. I really appreciate you sharing your advice based on your experiences. I had a bad shoulder injury and and know the importance of weight lifting technique for the bench press. Thanks for the insight into other techniques to watch out for.

Now, when you're using the foam roller, you're benching a weight that is above your 1 rep max correct?

heres some other tips guys
1. look up how to bench in a powerlifting form (not bodybuilding)
2. train your chest shoulders and triceps with heavy weights low reps
3.do heavy compound excercises ( shoulder press close grip bench and bench)
4.do as heavy as u can go for 5x5
5. get a spotter for forced repititions
6. try plyometric pushups there are tons of variations and they help fast
7. bench press lockouts
8. focus on strength and not things like flys
9. weighted chair dips
