Just getting back into all things Associates and Billy Mackenzie. I didn't fully appreciate the amazing richness and texture of his vocals when i was a teenager in the early 1980's so it's a pleasure nearly 30 years later to indulge in a retrospective appraisal of his talent. Billy may be gone but he's left a wonderful legacy behind.
@moscowgas Like you, I didn't totally appreciate at the time what an incredible singer he was, even though I did like their music and Those First Impressions was one of my favourite 80's songs. I didn't know he'd died until a couple of years ago and I was so shocked and saddened when I found out, especially the circumstances in which it happened.
I was never fortunate to hear this before. I live in the States. I am grateful to hear it now. I was always a Billy fan. He had the most amazing voice ever. I wish everyone could hear how amazing he was. RIP Billy. I love you...
A brilliant band..love all their material. Billy has the greatest voice in the industry..followed by Ian Curtis another great legend. These guys are trully missed. R.I.P to Billy and Ian.
I've read a lot about Wild & Lonely being overblown. Always felt that was part of the point of our Billy and that it was some of his best work. Makes me cry every time. What a legacy. RIP

Totally brilliant. Billy is very much missed but he will go on forever in my heart. His voice was just unbelievable and beautiful. RIP Billyxxx
