He is nice. Leave him alone. Lol. And if you're a Claudio fan hating on Chris...you're spitting in Claud's face at he (and his bandmate's) choice of a drummer. :D
Chris is not too good for coheed. His style is different from josh, the original drummer, but its neither better or worse. Josh is a "less is more" drummer and he is more precise. Chris is a fancy drummer who loves double bass. Its a matter of opinion which style is better. Don't force your ideas on to others. It's called fascism and it started World War II

You guys are really fucking stupid for saying this guy is to good for coheed look up The final cut live neverender the guitar solo's crush pennies 20 minute solo he does and he does a fantastic job no doubt pennie has better talent then there old drummer but if you listen to there newest album to date the first cd with pennie playing it sounds completely garbage to the previous 3 so maybe hes the one thats not good enough for c & c you fucktards
@Drshakalu7 Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters did the drum track recording of Coheed's album NWFT. You might have wanted to do a little more research before writing that whole big thing, chief.
hey dumbass taylor hawkins of the foo fighters did the recording all the drums were created by chris pennie so you might wanna do some more research before you try correcting me watch any other pennie interview he speaks about saying even though talyor hawkins recorded it all my soul was in the drums if that was all of it no thank you ill take josh eppard any day but i guess we gotta see whenever YOTBR comes out
Haha. No shit Pennie created MOST of the drums for it, but Taylor Hawkins added his own twist (being a different drummer and human being, resulting in a different sound), so that would be Taylor Hawkin's garbage. Oh, and you just called me a dumbass for no reason. Now, I'm sure you've listened to "The Broken" by now, and the drums are perfect. Phenomenal. Thank you.
@oiamgodo E FUCKING XACTLY, those drums are fucking perfect for the song, and im lookin forward to seeing what he does with the rest of the album, WITHOUT some other drummer changing it up. iv got friends that tell me hawkins is the shit but i honestly feel he fucked up the drums for NWFT. after hearing the album played live in neverender i wanna see someone say chris pennie sucks. cus honestly only a retard who doesnt know what hes listening to would.
@beatlessxXxbassline He sucks in that he absolutely ruins coheed's sound with his over-the-top drumming, mainly his overuse of cymbals. it could just be that he's higher in the mix than the previous drummer, but he lacks Eppard's subtlety and style. Eppard is ten times as interesting as this guy. I love metal, but what a fucking bland drummer. Even his drum solo was shit-boring.
@rujiel17 uhm..have you even HEARD the new album yet? no over usage of anything..no trying to be insanely fast for no reason..no over the top anything. VERY good job by penny, if you listen to it and still agree with your previous comment. then oh well. i cant expect everyone to know good stuff when they hear it.
@beatlessxXxbassline He ruins the chorus of Here We Are Juggernaut (which didn't have a great chorus to begin with but oh well). His work's alright in the intro of Guns of Summer, but nothing really mindblowing. As for what I'd consider good drumming, Johan Langell of Pain of Salvation--now there is a fantastic drummer. Technical and very subtle.
@mutatingfred24 I was saying "learn to english". LOL @ "it's spelled two, learn two english!". the fact that you even thought that was spelled as such intentionally gives me lols. You're probably best off learning a third english while you're at it. still lolling.
Ya, but Coheed doesn't hide him like a lot of bands do to their drummer. They give him solos and let him be creative within the songs and fills. I think he's probably enjoying it more in C&C because of the crowds and such.
It's not about being talented. It's about the legacy they left, and recognizing that. If Lombardo and Lars Ulrich wouldn't have done what they did in their time (including other drummers), none of the progressive/technical metal drummers that you listen today wouldn't be doing what they do, including Pennie.

@mutatingfred24 Good call on not experimenting with the "you are" contraction on that one--clearly that's dangerous territory, better give it time.

It's just fucking sad to see somebody throw their talent away just because he hates Ben Weinman. Join a real fucking band Chris for god sakes.
