Thank you sooo much for posting this! I am a surrogate and will be going thru this process very soon. My husband is too squimish to do the injections, and I'm just glad i found a video of a brave lady like you to help me thru the process.

@CJEChurchill The first time is hard! My first injection was just a subcutaneous injection with a tiny needle - I can't imagine doing this shot as my first! Good luck! :)

@quadruplelatte aw man. My needle is 1 and a half inches long! I did it on Sunday, I just didn't tink about it and did it. But I can't stop thinin about it now and its putting me off. I'll get used to it I think. by the way, I love the soundtrack :o)

@234lavender Congrats :) This seems so long ago that I did this video - this was a successful cycle (I have another vid for that) but I was a poor responder and got lucky! She is now a spunky 2.5-year-old :) Enjoy every second of your pregnancy and motherhood to come! :)

Getting ready to do this soon. Can you tell me why you pull medication out with one size needle and then inject with a different size? Why can't you use the 25g to do both?

That is how they showed me. I am not sure, but I think sucking it up with a small needle could introduce air (?) but also, the rubber thing could dull it a bit - you want the needle you actually inject with sharp and unused. The 18g needles you pull the oil up with are HUGE - don't forget to change it - I never did this but I've heard of people forgetting. OUCH! :) Good luck!!!

use bigger needle to draw up oil solution, quicker, then use smaller needle to inject, as a bit less painfuil.

Thanks for posting this...my husband gives me the shot but I wasnt sure if we were placing it correctly--the "hands on hips where thumb goes" analogy was perfect. Also the idea of heating the syringe in heating pad. Thanks again. Good luck.

I'm lucky my husband will do the shots for me, cuz there is no way I'm doing that to myself. Congrats on having the guts! I would rather use the larger 22 needle for the much faster injection time, then my honey massages the area with a warm damp washcloth to ease the sting and make sure I don't get lumps.

Nice injection procedures but .. WOW! You forgot to check for blood before injecting the solution x x. It's intramuscular not Intravenous for a reason! Still, very good procedures, just gotta check for blood too. <3

You're right. And I was so good at checking for it during my first 2 cycles that I did PIO - then I got sloppy, I guess. Mainly because the one time I did hit a vein, it HURT, so since I inject slow, I figured I'd just stop if I felt any pain. But you're right, the correct thing is to check for blood. I agree with you fully. When you are going to hit a vein it hurts like heck, injecting slowly is better in my opinion. Some sites give you no pain what so ever, and most of the time no blood, but when you stick and feel plenty of pain, you know it's a vein! Pretty cool, huh?
