Yes, it takes quite a bit of effort. So Einstein, why would you expend all of that effort to do something unsafe like making your pistol go off in your pants? Play with yourself in public often?
Some people here have misunderstood my intention with this video. I am not saying the smart carry holster is unsafe. I was merely demonstrating that you can pull the trigger of a gun while carrying in one. I still love my smart carry holster and prefer it over my ctac for comfort and its ability to conceal my firearm. I don't fear the trigger being pulled while using my smart carry. I purchased my smart carry because of Passive101's videos and I decided to test for myself because of his test.
Sorry but "What's your point"? IF you are foolish enough to draw a handgun with a finger on the trigger you can fire it in ANY holster! Holster's do not fix poor technique! NO one concealment holster works for ALL situations. The SmartCarry is not a "fast draw" holster but is an excellent concealment holster! One of the BEST! Practice drawing with finger at side of gun THEN go for the trigger as gun is cleared away from possibly blowing off your nads ! Practice Grasshopper.Just my .02 cents
@rasdebol His point is that the smart carry may not offer enough protection over the trigger guard to prevent accidentally discharge. There is at least one documented case of the gun going off, not during the draw but while a man was walking his dog with a similar, but cheaper type of holster. Google "smart carry accidental discharge" and read about it.
@aquaphone Was he playing with himself , vigorously scratching his crotch or what ?? "striker" versus "hammer" fired guns have a lighter trigger pull when the firing pin is under spring load. This video seems to show you should definitely not carry a Glock in this condition. I carry a double action pistol with a 12 pound trigger pull, doubt a baseball bat to the crotch would ever fire mine. Probably also a good idea to not carry a loaded gun pointing at your nutsack.. :-) I LOVE my SMARTCARRY!
@rasdebol Oh, yeah, I love the smart carry as well, and I'm definitely getting one. But it doesn't protect the trigger guard as well as it should. I doubt you're double action trigger would go off accidentally, and I would feel safe carrying one. The gun the guy shot himself with was a CZ-83 I think, and he was carrying it "cocked-and-locked". Somehow the safety slipped off and he got shot. It was also a thinner holster than smart carry. I think a 1911 cocked and locked would have been fine.
@aquaphone At least there is the plus that Mr. CZ-83 to the crotch probably won't be reproducing more dunderheads like himself... 9mm vasectomy ? SOME good sense needs to be displayed in carrying a gun.... Ever notice how lot of professional "fast draw' guys have metal shields in their holsters? They probably had an accidental BANG! or two along the way.. ;-)
Also, a smart carry kind of makes it impossible for the gun not to point at your "nutsack" :) at least SOMETIMES. All holsters force you to point the gun at some part of your body you wouldn't want shot off. I would actually rather loose a testicle than get shot in the femoral artery or a long bone of the leg, both of which are possible with the smart carry. I can't think of any place I would want to be shot.
Concealment A+ : Nothing better. Comfort A : Am I carrying? Quality/Design A+ : Perfect. Versatility A+ : Adjust for comfort/pref. Stability A+ : It's not moving. Price: A- : Standing Draw B+ : Just not the fastest. Sitting Draw D : Forget drawing while driving. Take Away Difficulty A+ : Forget about it. Reholstering Difficulty C- : Dif. for me. Safety ? : I can chamber a round in the blink of an eye while drawing. No need to be fully loaded. My favorite holster.
Thats fuckin retarded. You can do that with any soft style holster. You have to really dig at that trigger to disengage the safety, and you are obviously not going to do that. Check out Passive 101's videos, much better demos of the Smart Carry Holster.
Neat demo! Im probably gonna get a smart carry holster, but that's kind of alarming, even though it'd take some crazy circumstances to make it happen.. Pehaps they could even sew in a piece of spring steel over the trigger guard and it wouldnt hurt the design, comfort, etc. in the slightest, but would make it more fool proof..
same thing could happen with a pocket holster. I solved problem by sewing a plastic liner inside front cloth pannel. If I get pierced with a metal object, it could still go out, but with that much force I'm injured already. Good idea to post it. I don't work for them...but i do own 4 of them and i've used it for over 5 years now every day.
If you carry a single action or something like the Glock trigger while its chambered you could fit a small piece of kydex in the holster so it covers the trigger guard.
Eh I'm thin, tall have nice teeth and have a good attitude. I'm as charismatic as I need to be.

If you can pull the trigger when you do that, then don't do that.
