Shame the whole thing from Jacksonville was not on the video, then the guitar solo makes a lot of sense. I was there. It was incredible, and incredible band line up.
While I wouldn't recommend this an introduction to the lovely setting of Padraic Colum's quietly eery poem, it works as a performance. The bass riff especially is a find. As for the guitar solo, the strange thing about trad music is that, because it's so modal, it often lends itself well to hard rock interpretations (Steeleye Span, while not quite "hard", used this aspect of the tradition very well.)
@cocochanelleke utter bs, the giutar solo was brilliant, wish it lasted longer, the way it explodes into the song is brilliant.some ppl are just too fixated on the trad versions of tunes to be open minded and understand a different interpretation. Their loss. Love this version.
hahaha me too, an i loved their version. in fact thats the best MALE VOCAL version ive ever heard of it! I think the guiatr solo was cut too short if anything, especialy for a live version. I wish he would have taken it way out there! love the arabic types modes in there. I normaly would be very purist about irish trad but for an improv section i think he earned the right with his vocal rendition alone!
Excuse me please - but you barked at the wrong tree.
(As in responding to the wrong YT-address.)

Amazing performance. Love the cd and the solo works of Ken Eros. I may be partial because he's my uncle, but he's fantastic!

Re She moved through the fair
The guitar solo was not so 1900's, it was just very not fitting. Very, very much so.

Great version of this classic!

This is not 'She Moved Through The Fair' - lyrics completely incorrect, and the melody only occasionally approximating the true song.

An interesting take-off on the classic, nonetheless.

RE she moved through the fair
I love this song - and as with all folk lyrics and folk tunes - this is one of many versions.
Keep well
