Give a Goat' schemes (and even worse schemes to give cattle, which a few charities offer) do more harm than good. They have a negative impact on already-fragile ecosystems (habitat destruction, desertification) - ESPECIALLY in drought-prone areas. Consider giving the gift of water to communities without fresh, clean supplies, or direct food aid to those places in emergency need - but please don't 'give a goat'.
