THIS Is The True Meaning Of Going Back In Time: Season 2 Rocked! I Hummed & Sang The Theme Song To This for Many Years, Thinking I Would Never See Or Hear The Epic Opening Again! Now For A Long Overdue Re-Visit Of Some Space Ace & Kangaroo Episodes.....
I'm going to ask CBS to bring back Saturday SuperCade with new episodes from segments of "My Secret World" and "Tekken" as well as re-runs of "Kangaroo" and "Space Ace".
some good news, there is a chance, remote but a good chance of this show making it to Dvd, It won't be exactly as we remember but it is something. Google tvshows on dvd. You tube won't let me post the link
Man, kids today don't know what they're missing! Back in the 80s Saturday mornings meant being transported to new worlds shimmering with imagination and fun!
YES.. I totally remember watchin all the cartoons on YOUtube ive seen from the 80's. Yes i watched too much tv but it was good times and today cant compare to TV back then....
"Kangaroo" was an Atari game, where you played a mother kangaroo (here named "Katy") trying to save her son, "Joey." The main advantage was you were also a "boxing" kangaroo having to punch, duck, jump and otherwise dodge your way through a maze of monkeys, gorillas and other obstacles before the timer ran out. You could get fruits for points, too.
Kangaroo was one of my favorite arcade games. Mom kangaroo had to punch her way up platforms to save the baby. I did watch this back then also, and really the only one that should have possibly been made into a story would have been Space Ace. I suppose I did like it at the time.
And now the stupid Pac-Man cartoon theme song just started in my head... geez.
Ruby-Spears did their version of Don Bluth's Space Ace for Saturday Supercade the same 1984 year that Ruby-Spears did their version of Don Bluth's Dragon's Lair cartoon series.
In the opening sequence, the kid kangaroo in the tree branch is sitting next to a forerunner looking Skippy Squirrel from the Animaniacs Slappy Squirrel cartoons!
The fact still remains that Q*bert, Donkey Kong, K.O. Katy and all the others, along with their arcade counterparts, are all on a long list of who and what helped keep me away from drug addiction and alcoholism and all that crap when things in school got to suck. And if that's not grounds for tracking down whoever's in charge and smacking 'em upside the head whatever number of times it takes to send the message that the wait for the DVD release has gone on long enough, I don't know what is.
Yes! That woulda prob been on the roster had it come back a third season. :D I love this version much better than the earlier one. They should really put these programs on DVD.
The season 1 opening made the show feel like such a generic "Happy-go-lucky" series aimed at preschoolers.
THIS, on the other hand...It actually makes Saturday Supercade look like a respectable show that could stand up next to stuff like Super Show and Captain N.
YES!!!!!! You are THE true meaning of my life! The Season 2 opening titles of Saturday Supercade beat the Season 1 version hands down! THANK YOU for putting it up!
Boy, do they have a knack for launching the new season with a bang or WHAT?!! :-D
s 2nd season from the year 1984-1985. I remember watching this 2nd season on CBS with Kangaroo and Space Ace much more than I remember Pitfall Harry, Donkey Kong Junior, and Frogger from season one. I remember Donkey Kong Sr. and Q-Bert from season 2 very well though!

Two things:
1> It seems the only program out of this anthology getting any love from Boomerang is Space Ace because I've seen it on that cartoon channel.
2> Since when did Q*Bert start shooting projectiles from his nose?

I really wish they would release this on DVD someday! Too bad it won't happen since all the characters are licensed.

I remember seeing the Kangaroo arcade game at the bowling alley back when I was a kid. It was just before Saturday Supercade's second season.

It's amazing how from fun video games, they can turn them into cool cartoon worlds on TV.

Now this is a series that deserves a DvD release. of course getting the rights to the various games will probably prevent that.

1984, eh. This season would of been better if it included one more arcade game: Punch-Out!!
I saw a couple of Space Ace episodes on Cartoon Network in the late '90s.
