Hmmm... my takeaway is that I'm NOT koo-koo for being certain I'll never make videos. I'm quite happy over here in my little corner of YT, blissfully watching whatever I want, while other people have breakdowns over the partner prog- oh, uh, sorry.
Hey, you have a bald Bnessel logo now! VERY cool! Although, one thing is "off" with it: you ARE funny, my friend. I will tell you that anytime you need to hear it. Just don't call me at 3 am to ask me, mmmkay? =D
Your accent is just killing me with happiness. I might have to do a little impersonation at some point. It's one of my favorites. Do you know Maryann, the funny lady on YouTube whose name I'm almost certainly spelling wrong? I'm going to study up so that I can properly represent your accents on the 'Tube one day.
You got it right on, thanks for making this video, you have said what has caused a number of my friends to stop using Youtube and look else where after being rejected by the partner program a few times while others, with less subscribers, videos and views were accepted
BFF! Lol! I am so disgusted with their support or rather, lack thereof. I know so many people (myself included) experiencing technical problems and they never get addressed. I've had issues for OVER 1 YEAR!! I got rejected from the partnership program, but apparently they gave my channel partnership features. Wtf?! I don't even care about being partner- I just want my issues fixed.
I think your video has a sweet lovely feeling to it but I also think you dont have a clue about business cost at all. For everyone to have Ad revenue that would mean millions and millions of people posting their bank accounts and Youtube would have to have their accounting area pay millions and millions of people. That is what Banks too. Lets try and think about what is realistic for a video sharing corporation whom is not a bank. ~Raven
I think Brian has good business sense we just don't know Youtube's business costs and they don't reveal anything and we are all guessing and obviously there is discord in the community to try an help. When you are passionate about something you fight for it. Discussion is the first step and and part of the Art of negotiation in trying to solve a problem and come up with a solution.
Dearest Raven, you don't have a clue how the partnership program works. If you did, you wouldn't make this comment. Every person on YouTube could have a partnership without YouTube having to hire a single person to do accounting. I absolutely guarantee you that.
I may play a goofball on YouTube, but I'm a goofball with an MBA. Who'da thunk it?
bnessel1973...I really didnt mean to sound harsh. I was venting...but as long as those youtubers earn a check in the mail and the programming to track Ad revenue for each of the millions of youtubers, youtube will need to be able to function like a full-on bank. Millions of people might have checks for at least a few dollas, possibly...who knows but it would be a grand endeavor on their part to make that happen, considering this sight is already a 6-8 million dollar cost. ~Raven
Raven, I meant to sound like a smart ass, but not in a harsh way. : )
Here's the big secret about partnerships. First, the key element is Google Adsense, not YouTube. And, ANYONE can get an Adsense account and use it where ever they wish. Adsense tracks your views and clicks, not YouTube. And Adsense has been created with programming and technology to handle hundreds of millions of people.
Secondly, no one ever gets a check for a few dollars. You only get paid once you reach $100 at a time. People that average 500 views per video won't reach that $100 mark for 100 videos - literally. And that's if they get in where they get paid for views, not clicks.
In other words. The Partnership program is a great way to get a banner and autoplay. And, many months down the road, you'll be able to by a few gallons of gas. : )
And a vast majority of them do not post videos, and would not be interested in the partnership program. Only the people who sign up should get in, but EVERYONE that signs up should get in (unless they are breaking laws - like copyright).
GoogleAdsense would still need to track millions of people vs a thousand partners and pay those millions of people. Why are you making it sound like this would be an easy endeavor for youtube? ~Raven
Because YouTube doesn't track it, Google Adsense does. And Google Adsense has millions of people and businesses using it that aren't even on YouTube. They run the program, not YouTube. That is why, when you become a partner, they make sure one of your first steps is to get an Adsense account, because that's the only way you get paid.
It doesn't have to be this big pain for YouTube. It just doesn't.
#1 All views create revenue for Youtube with adds. Views are views regardless of content as long as it's not rude and crude. If one is following TOSS guidelines and is not porn or hurting anyone they should be accepted. Just because one channel gets less views it still has the potential to make a few pennies. ie: Banks, every penny they save not returned to us they saving millions of dollars from us.
YT is hurting themselves and someone at YT needs to make a business decision fast before good people on here decide to not ever apply or re-apply out of principle. And that won't be a good situation for Youtube and I do want it to stick around. Obviously YT is not a bank, was just trying to use an example of the value of a penny.
I'm back Brian because this video is so spot on! I not only think YT needs to step up there game here which it has become, I also think they need to toss a few more pennies in the pot. the money they offer us does not reflect the reasons why we are turned down if we are following TOS regulations.
I've realized that leaving like 1000 comments myself is not a reasonable goal. Maybe someone else can help? If we had like 10 people leave 100 comments apiece that'd do the trick.
FINALLY someone is saying this. Man, you have just risen up to the very tippy top of my favorite youtube partners, B. I agree that everyone should get a share in the program. That's what the "other" sites are doing. "They" actually give me a cut for the same videos I post on YouTube that aren't up to their standards.
I'm so happy to see you make this video, Brian. Email blasts and spamming to bring a video to "Most..." status helps get our concerns to YT's ears, but videos which spell it out, in detail, definitely have their place. Would you consider adding a link to the YourTubeAdvocate channel in the description section, to encourage people to subscribe there and find out what can be done? There are tangible things all of us can do. That's a good place to find out what those things are. Five stars, Babe!
I think the revenue sharing business wont be around for much longer. Youtube will have to create a youtubeTV channel with exclusive sitcoms and programs WITH commercials. I think they could invite youtubers to create movies and sitcoms too but this site cause $6-8 million a month. The ad program isnt going to be able to cover cost down the line too as Youtube grows. ~Raven
I think that they watch partners videos for a period of time, or even randomly. Because the other day I posted a video and it had its ads, etc. before anyone could have watched it all the way through.
So either they have an initial period of scrutiny for each partner, or they are now either hit and miss, or waiting for someone to complain about a given video.
It's funny... I was thinking about this exact thing today while I was in the bathroom. No joke. And this is the conclusion that I reached. YouTube makes money from advertising. And while they say the partnership program is to "share" revenue (which they do), the underlying reason is to create more avenues to display ads (partner channels and videos are full of ads... non partners are not).
So, from a purely business standpoint, doesn't it make sense to make everyone a partner. This way, everyone's videos are pimped out with ads... and not just some videos.
So, forget fairness or quality standards... it doesn't make business sense to prevent people from being partners.
I was turned down too, oh well, I am told not enough views, but I have more total views than many partners that I've seen, so it doesn't compute. See my attached video for my feelings on this.
well done! had no idea that some partners weren't seeing the massive fundage (insert sarcasm). i figured if you were made a partner, it was the same for everyone. equality for all the hos!
I'd be happy just to get a reasoned response as to why some people are/some people aren't partners. I applied a few days ago and was rejected, which is fine, but it was on the grounds of not having a large enough audience. Now I know my audience isn't huge so I'm not actually bitter about it, but I can list at least three other Australian partners with fewer subs and fewer views than me. I don't resent them having it - it just makes me think I got rejected for a reason I'm not being told.
I will not be able to join your crusade, Brian. You see, I have made soooo much money in this program, that if I just wait a FEW more months, I MAY be able to take my entire family to dinner at McDonalds. And I can't risk all of that. It just means too much for us to be able to have a good meal, ya know?
So I will have to lay low, take it in the rear, in the ear, facials, you-name-it...because this HUGE income is just too important for my family.
Dale,I understand. I have a gallon of gas on layaway right now, that I think I'd be able to pay off in July from my YouTube money. Now I may not be able to get it, if YouTube kicks me out of the program.
Brian this is a great video, I know I was made partner on You tube Ireland where theres only a few of us and we were only able to be pimped since middle of April. Regardless of this how can be or you be a how when the likes of Wendy who cracks me up with every vid and Gary not be partners. I do admit I watch Marina and bet shes making loads of this but she did sub to me when we was litte, first page of my subs . I don't intend making any money as a partner I have a regular job pimping.
I think Marina has her place on YouTube, and I don't have a problem with her content, necessarily. But, let's face it, we all know why she gets the views and the subs ... and very little of that has to do with talent.
That is why YouTube needs to allow everyone in, so it isn't a judgment call by someone who may or may not have the same standards or interests as the person they're "judging". Does that make sense?
Oh yes I do but check out her own website, she is one talented lady off the tubes, no not for that on radio and tv.. She does make me laugh but no where near as funny or original as our Wendy and Gary. I just watched Wendys vid about Santa ,everyone should be a partner, when I started here only a handful of partners and one you tube site I get all Irish ads on the US partners vids so they must get US ads on mine.
over here the ads only appear in the side no ads on vids themselves. Strange or what
Brian darling, you are awesome. The way that you are so concerned about others is so very cool. Now.. about the whole you being one of UT's ho's(is this the correct way to spell ho? I really don't know.) is disturbing to me. I..I...I don't think I can sleep now.. ever. Thanks jerk! (see how quickly I can take away the "your awesome" part?? I AM WOMAN! RAWR!
Mary, I was uncomfortable about being a ho, too ... at first. Then you kind of get used to it - it becomes natural. Yes, the shoes are uncomfortable, and my tube top always rides up on me, but other than that, it's not that bad. Please, don't judge.
Hugs? ... that will be $5. Thank you for your patronage.
Can we work for a pimp without hair Brian? In all seriousness.. at the same time, why doesn't YT come down of those that post the vulgar comments? Why does a 5 star comment have to contain the f-word and other vulgarities? As Shania Twain would say: "That don't impress me much"! LOL All the best....Rick
Rick, the things you have issue with, I have issue with, too - but they aren't YouTube's fault. YouTube can't control who gets what rating, or what people say in their comments. And, really, they shouldn't be expected to police those things. That's why they give us the power to delete and block.
I believe so, but I don't know what chances someone would have if they had copyrighted material noted on their page - which to me is unfair. I think people should be encouraged to remove copyrighted material so that CAN be a partner. Not punished for taking it down and applying.
I agree with everything you said. I would even be willing to except approvals and denials based on view count but they really have to stop the "your account does not contain sufficient original content that represents the uniqueness of OUR COMMUNITY" --that's just offensive.
Great video Brian. It's pretty amazing the talent that they've been turning down for partnerships lately. It was bad enough that Anakin and Winger1212 were turned down, but now SandieBlack!!! I mean what planet are these *deciders* living on??? How the heck am I a partner and SandieBlack isn't. I've put a lot of work into my videos here but I'd be the first one to admit that my vids aren't the calibre hers are. It really boggles my mind.
I'm so mad at the whole thing it's now become a challenge to see if I will be accepted.. even though I know why they shouldn't which is why I never applied.. I never thought my content was goo enough, but it appears thats not what they are REALLY going by. I'll keep you all posted.. It's become a game now.... it's also causing a lot of rivalry at the same time.
i think its a nice idea that everyone has the chance to be a partner. it still bothers me that someone like magibon can earn money by doing nothing. literally.
i guess if they made everyone a partner, they would have to monitor copyrighted material alot more closely. because big corporations would not like it if youtube paid 'insert username here' money because he/she had alot of views on a video that they actually got by illegally ripping a dvd or something.
If everyone became a partner, they'd have less copyright infringement, because people would know they could get in legal trouble for it. There would be more incentive to follow the rules.
But I couldn't agree more with you about Magibon.
OK dude if they made everyone a partner then they would bankrupt hello they can't pay us all that would just be insane , but there are some that deserve it and more that don't
from what i know, the money the partners get paid, does not come directly from youtube, but is based on the ADVERTISEMENTS that they have on their video pages. youtube wouldnt pay their partners for the sake of it. they pay them a portion of the money they make by having the ads there.
as far as i know, anyways. i might be wrong. thats just the way it was explained to me.
Boy do you have the wrong impression of the partnership program. First, the advertiser is the one that actually pays, not YouTube. Second, the amount you get paid is a fraction of a cent per view/click/what-have-you. In the long run, the potential money it saves YouTube from legal responsibilities more than covers any cost that might accrue.
Quite eloquently said my friend. I was thinking the same thing but didn't have the guts to say it. Thank you for being my ho, I mean spokesperson. Equal treatment for ALL of the hard work everyone does for YT. I LOVE YOU BRIAN!
I don`t want their advertizing.

I hope that you can understand. Sorry.
DaleATL2 3 years ago
Dale,I understand. I have a gallon of gas on layaway right now, that I think I'd be able to pay off in July from my YouTube money. Now I may not be able to get it, if YouTube kicks me out of the program.
But, it's a risk I felt I had to take.

You guys crack me up!
wogsland 3 years ago

Does that make sense?
bnessel1973 3 years ago
Oh yes I do but check out her own website, she is one talented lady off the tubes, no not for that on radio and tv.. She does make me laugh but no where near as funny or original as our Wendy and Gary. I just watched Wendys vid about Santa ,everyone should be a partner, when I started here only a handful of partners and one you tube site I get all Irish ads on the US partners vids so they must get US ads on mine.
over here the ads only appear in the side no ads on vids themselves. Strange or what

I love Marina, too.

Eveybody? You did see my last video, didn't you?
You are a very smart/talented man.

You'd make an awesome ho. There's got to be a market out there for that look if there's a market for mine!
bnessel1973 3 years ago
ho? That would be interesting considering...
IAGuy06 3 years ago
Ho, ho, ho!
wogsland 3 years ago
Brian darling, you are awesome. The way that you are so concerned about others is so very cool. Now.. about the whole you being one of UT's ho's(is this the correct way to spell ho? I really don't know.) is disturbing to me. I..I...I don't think I can sleep now.. ever. Thanks jerk! (see how quickly I can take away the "your awesome" part?? I AM WOMAN! RAWR!
Meemaree 3 years ago

Steampiper 3 years ago
Rick, the things you have issue with, I have issue with, too - but they aren't YouTube's fault. YouTube can't control who gets what rating, or what people say in their comments. And, really, they shouldn't be expected to police those things. That's why they give us the power to delete and block.

Is it possible to re-apply after taking down the vids with copyrighted music?
BrEnDaW924 3 years ago
I believe so, but I don't know what chances someone would have if they had copyrighted material noted on their page - which to me is unfair. I think people should be encouraged to remove copyrighted material so that CAN be a partner. Not punished for taking it down and applying.
bnessel1973 3 years ago
They don't look at any videos you don't submit for profit sharing though...
wogsland 3 years ago
Time to get out the pokin' stick again Brian and lower YouTubes standard of quality for videos. Will there be a drug screen for the HO job ???
JustStuff 3 years ago
I hope not. And they better not do DNA checks!
bnessel1973 3 years ago
Oh God, DNA!?!?! I hope not either, then you might find out you and Joe really are related :P
JustStuff 3 years ago

Blinkazoid 3 years ago
Yeah, there's no guideline for how they choose. At the very least, that would help.

go for it!
wogsland 3 years ago
I'm so mad at the whole thing it's now become a challenge to see if I will be accepted.. even though I know why they shouldn't which is why I never applied.. I never thought my content was goo enough, but it appears thats not what they are REALLY going by. I'll keep you all posted.. It's become a game now.... it's also causing a lot of rivalry at the same time.
Pippilly 3 years ago
i think its a nice idea that everyone has the chance to be a partner. it still bothers me that someone like magibon can earn money by doing nothing. literally.
i guess if they made everyone a partner, they would have to monitor copyrighted material alot more closely. because big corporations would not like it if youtube paid 'insert username here' money because he/she had alot of views on a video that they actually got by illegally ripping a dvd or something.
misscupcake1 3 years ago
If everyone became a partner, they'd have less copyright infringement, because people would know they could get in legal trouble for it. There would be more incentive to follow the rules.
But I couldn't agree more with you about Magibon.
bnessel1973 3 years ago
I wonder if anyone's set up an I hat Magibon channel yet...
wogsland 3 years ago
hat => hate
wogsland 3 years ago
OK dude if they made everyone a partner then they would bankrupt hello they can't pay us all that would just be insane , but there are some that deserve it and more that don't
paragrin 3 years ago
from what i know, the money the partners get paid, does not come directly from youtube, but is based on the ADVERTISEMENTS that they have on their video pages. youtube wouldnt pay their partners for the sake of it. they pay them a portion of the money they make by having the ads there.
as far as i know, anyways. i might be wrong. thats just the way it was explained to me.
misscupcake1 3 years ago
Boy do you have the wrong impression of the partnership program. First, the advertiser is the one that actually pays, not YouTube. Second, the amount you get paid is a fraction of a cent per view/click/what-have-you. In the long run, the potential money it saves YouTube from legal responsibilities more than covers any cost that might accrue.
bnessel1973 3 years ago
except for their vetting of partner videos for copyrighted content...
