NICE vid man. Glad to see someone breakingout of the normal survival videos and posting a urban survival vid. Good ideas you have there I do have one question though. That air compressor. Is it battery run or do you have to charge it?
good video. DON'T post any video of stuff in your truck that is essential, but the cops can use against you. remember, cops work for the state, and the state is in search of bodies. at least here in new mexico, they AREN'T here to protect you. good video though.
You should toss a couple of candy bars in there, and a bunch of candles in case you get stranded overnight.. you know a little heat and something to munch on. Good Job.
if you put hot pockets in your boots, you need to have quite a few on you so you can change them out before your feet freeze. Your foots gonna sweat inside the boot and if you run out, of heat then they are going to be prone to frostbite so much easier when that sweat freezes.
I agree this is a "what if my car breaks down in the middle of nowhere kit" urban survival is something totally different. I'm calling misleading title. Verrry good and informative video though.
@Verradonairun Exactly the two things that won't be of much use when the SHTF and chaos ensues!! phone lines will crash with 911 calls and ATMs will be useless with no one running them...unless the banks somehow manage to be operating during a pandemic, catastrophe, or WWlll.
@Verradonairun Unfortunately ur joke is too common train of thought for the masses. Society, as a whole, has become too dependent on Big Bro hand outs. Little do they realize when it all crashes, when the SHTF, the politicians and their minions will go underground and NOT be looking to see who's in need more...
Phones and credit cards are something most of us have, but don't consider when creature comforts disappear, those two items will go first!!
@Verradonairun Paranoid about what? You living with ur head in the sand or up ur ass -where ever it is - doesn't make others (who no longer trust their Govt to help them when the chips are down) paranoid! I've been around, heard stories, seen how vets are treated once their off the front lines...and I look out for myself. Paranoid is dillusional, prepared is realistic!! Good riddance to ignorance!!
you should include a set of vulcanized tire plugs with the tools otherwise the air compressor is used only to fill a tire with slow leaks, and fix a flat really doesn't work. Good post keep em thinking
Thank you so much! I have been arguing this point for years.... I have been all over the USA and even in Alaska, there is always a city where it would be easier to survive than by yourself in the wild!!! check out my bob.
I've broke so many of those walmart tow ropes, I think those things are junk. I went out and invested in a warn tow rope years ago and it still hasn't let me down.
@RuttinDAsouth Yeah, an "El Cheapo" or throw a way set and definately I always like to carry a "cross bar" for changing tires. It's the fastest thing for lug nuts out there that is not powered.
You should add an extra serpentine belt. Jumper cables won't matter if your alternator isn't spinning. Also, extra ATF (tranny and power steering),and a smallish tarp to keep off the ground if you gotta crawl underneath.
@cadetdaddy the blazer still had all it's own tire changing kit from the factory is why it wasn't mentioned.but good call,I also recommend practing changing a tire in a controlled environment so when the real deal happens its no problem to change even in the dark.
I live in the country where there's nothing but cows and cornfields for 50 miles in every direction! You definately want things like that in your vehicle especially in the Winter time in case you ever have engine problems. I had a problem 2 Winters ago and was stranded for 5 hours before my wife came looking for me. Always inform your family of the route your taking!!! She knew my route and was able to find me. Cell phones don't always work in rural areas, so you need to be self-reliant.
my vehicles stay in top shape so I don't carry cables, coolant ect , however I would recomend a spare belt,It's risky jumping off newer vehicles anymore ,It usually ends up damaging something electronic in the process.
Nice vid, I like your style. Your kit seems designed for minor car malfunctions, nothing more -- and that's fine. I'd only suggest a bit more water (for starters)... a liter doesn't last long bro, it doesn't last long at all. A gallon/per day minimum is the rule of thumb, and even that I think is a low estimate. For myself it's more like 6 liters/day if I'm active. Also would like to see more of your BOB. Nice vid!
