Remember Shang Dynasy was also considered to be a myth until the oracle texts surfaced about 100 years ago. Once these newly discovered "Xia" texts carved on jade plates and jade objects are deciphered (some have already been translated (blog.sina.com.cn/zhenzhenghuaxiazhuren)), the existence of "Xia" Dynasty will be confirmed.

@DQFXPRESS i concur... called it whatever you want ... but the Shang is already considered 'developed' for a bronze age civilization... Hence a dynasty prior to it does exist ...
Yes, hopefully, but right now, it's not even considered a dynasty.Shiji might be accurate in some parts, but sometimes it isn't. You should know that Shiji is a Sino-centric material (Han Chinese POV) in things, so they can dilute some parts of other people's history as well.
Actually, Shang was thought to be semi-legendary, but it was backed by different sources. As for Xia, there's no archeleogical evidences for such a dynasty to appear in Chinese Neolithic stage. Xia sources are primarily from Sima Qian Shiji, nothing else.
terrible documentary which is what you would expect from a doc made by westerner for westerners. so much mistakes in here cant watch it. most uneducational
THE HISTORY CHINESE TEXT ALSO CITED THE LOCATION WHERE THE XIA WAS LOCATED AND THEY FOUND NEW DIGS NOW. WATCH AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. SHANG WAS A MYTH BACK THEN TOO.
@DQFXPRESS Xia dynasty is still considered myth due to the lack of conclusive evidence. IF the Xia (sha) dynasty can be proved as real then it will be considered the 1st dynasty. But for now, Shang is considered the 1st.
The statement by Dr. Campbell and Dr. Flad regarding horses and chariots appeared first in Shang Dynasty might be incorrect. There are newly identified jade plates from Xia Dynasty depicted both horses and chariots (blog.sina.com.cn/zhenzhenghuaxiazhuren) . In addition many unidentified ancient Chinese characters were also carved on these Xia jade plates. According to the author there are more than several hundreds of this type of characters in his jade collection.
@QiLuHmongHeritage Ethnic Han was known as ethnic Huaxia before Han Dynasty. Although the name changed, the ethnic is still the same. Before Han Dynasty doesn't mean before ethnic Han came in power.
@anotherzly Now and then everyone refers Huaxia as Han Chinese -Descendants of the Yan-Huang. While not acknowledging that the First Emperor of Han Dynasty "Lui Bang" came from Yi barbarian in Xuzhou. Liu Bang originally came from Xuzhou, the capital of the Dongyi State of Xu.
@QiLuHmongHeritage We know clearly where Liu Bang is from. I already told you that Dongyi refers to different peoples at different times. And I never heard people calling him Dongyi.

Interesting to learn a bit of Chinese history preceeding even the Zhou Dynasty.
However, I can still independently research the Shang and Xia if I need to.
Thank you very much for posting this documentary, harvarder18.
