David Campo (Campagna) passed away on Friday, September 9th, 2011. His family and friends will miss his kind heart, passion for life and great sense of humor.
564! 4464. I remember seeing his commercials for Harrisburg East Chrysler Plymouth in the early 80s. After they dropped his contract, their manager, Wayne, started doing their commercials. The first commercial he did, he tried to imitate Campo's style, but it just didn't work (either that or they got threatened with a lawsuit), so he started doing his own thing.
Among Dave Campo's many clients was Latham Motors in Twin Falls, Idaho. He liked them so much he actually moved to Twin Falls and started doing live spots for them, which he did well into the 1990s. Latham Motors went under about a year ago, but as far as I know Campo is still alive and living in Twin Falls.
This is positively brilliant. Great editing! This man and his commercials were very much a part of my growing up in the 80s. It was positively one of my favorites!
1989 Dave Campo, Douglas Toyota in Olathe, KS. "Look at this 4-Runner right heeerre!" Used to work there when he was in the showroom doing those commercials. Never got to talk with him, though :(
With Billy Mays death, I started to look to see of Dave Campo was still alive, I loved his commercials, the most memorable was him dressed up like Dracula doing Viking Chevy's pitch, he also did smokeaway or something like that.
They did a special on some station here where they featured Campo and his gearing up was spelling Mississippi... LOL
I'd rather see him back selling on TV than Sullivan or Mays
Thanks for the reply. My family had a bunch of these volares and aspens both new and used. The ones that ran rusted out and the ones that didn't you couldn't keep running. This car line was one of the reasons I decidecd as a young child to get into the automotive field. This film looks about 1984 probably got rid of the car for a k-car or a lebaron.I remeber Dave Campo adverstising for northview motors in Pittsburgh when I was about 9 or 10 years old. Thanks for the memories!!! good job!!!

I thought this guy was just local to the twin cities. Glad to see we Minnesotans weren't spared of his sales pitch magic.

Speaking of the porn shot, all that "Look at this unit!" "Push it in!" "Heeeeeeere...." "Oh!" could make a whole different montage. ;-)
