  • Next trend kids: djazz fusion

  • @piaknowledge Tosin and Javier are both 8 string guitarists, the lower strings let them emulate bass-like tones.

  • you can call me stupid but i dont care... which one is the bass player??

  • This drummer is a beast

  • I don't know what to call this. But I like it.

  • @CincoDrums I guess I would call it fusion to put it broadly...don't really like having to try and compartmentalize music anyways. oh yea, and I agree :)

  • HAHAHAH! I'm that one and only guy in the front row! So honored.

  • @DMNSTRDMN LUCKY!!!! @w@

  • haahaha i've seen, eric moore :P

  • who is the drummer? aaron spears?

  • @LeGUNY

    Eric Moore.

  • I severely underestimated that guy from spermicidal tendencies. He's great.

  • Tosin just plugs straight into the Axe-Fx? Woooooahhh that's dope.

  • If you hate saxophone combined with Tosin Abasi (much less saxophone by itself) GTFO. Saxophone takes a lot of skill to play effectively, I tried for about 3 years and still consider myself a beginner.

  • @PedrosBeenJamin oh noes, people like different things to me. Must react defensively and aggressively. Pathetic.

  • IT'S OUT!!!! T.R.A.M. - Lingua Franca!

  • I hate saxophone....

  • Holy fuck! Eric Moore!

  • The saxophone gives a more organic feel to the entire sound.

  • Cant wait for this awesome album. Lingua Franca will be on my top 3. Tosin Abasi at his finest.

  • that part @ 1:50 is orgasmic

  • they need a bass!!!

  • Not sure if incredibly annoying, or incredibly awesome.

  • @4:21 "hey can I sing some more?"

    "nah bitch we got this"

  • @1stdoublekill She really is pointless isn't she! Replace her with a keyboardist, seriously. Shes out of tune and doesn't understand poly rhythms (can hear her get confused by them!)

  • @1stdoublekill That was a "Job well fucking done sir" and a "Thank-you".

  • @1stdoublekill I think at 4:31 he told her to go make him a sandwich.

  • those Navenes old drums?

  • Damn this is awesome! Definitely Going to buy their album when it comes out!

  • nigga as big as drumset.. has to be awesome and groovy :D

  • This is so awesome

  • @jdotz5 James sucks.

  • this is probably like by 10th time watching this

  • this song is called haas kicker

  • Comment removed

  • Jazz played in a hardcore structure...so cool :)

  • Incase you folks haven't heard, this album is scheduled to release at the end of Feb 2012. Purchase it.

  • @toconnx I am sir :)

  • whos on drums Aarron spears or that other big guy from gospel chops?

  • @rollinfever15 Drummer is Eric Moore from suicidal tendancies

  • T.R.A.M. and Trioscapes need to tour now!

  • @samusoctology88 I am with you on this one

  • whats up with the weird exchange at 4:20 ?

  • @dudeitsbradball very weird i have no idea. hopefully they are tripping

  • right, an album is needed!

  • Wow he has some awesome shoes

  • What Ibanez model is Tosin playing, anyone who knows? Is it a real hollow body or just a painted F-hole?

  • that was fuckin badass.

  • Album is coming out 2.28.12!

  • @Bitchcake No dude that's when Veil of Maya's new album is out!

  • @VeelsTeMakkelijk Same day man! Check it. (change to actual url):

    facebook (dot) com/photo.php?fbid=258410610892552&set=a.139332446133703.28130.137720659628215

  • @Bitchcake You're right, my bad! I learned they're both releasing their albums the same day a couple of days after my post, haha. Looking forward to hearing (and eventually purchasing) both bands' albums!

  • is that the vocalist that did the Vocal line to Tempting time with Tosin?

  • @Sxionix yup.

  • I smell the beginning of a new genre. djent+jazz="djezz"?

  • @Dnozzle2794 i think they call it jizz

  • release the album already....my balls are blue enough...

  • what song is dees?

  • @MrISAACFACE Haas Kicker

    Derek

    fb.com/glasgow.symphony

  • I wish Sumerian would get off their asses and master/release this album already...

  • Is there a link where to download music of this band???

  • lol i beleive that´s Navenes drum set!

  • @METALERO31192 dude i think your right?!!?!

  • @kevinzetina hahaha maybe, they look similar. Not sure :D

  • @METALERO31192 yeah man i saw em a week ago and it looks very similar

  • @kevinzetina when i watching them live he had the bass drum head completely cut out, just have the drum head to hold the rim on. He does that to make it sound 'clickier'

  • this is better quality than that unmastered track they released lol

  • never thought i would see wind/brass instruments in a metal injection video

  • is that a saxello?

  • @ronaldmcdonald333 i think the instrument you're referring to is a bass-clarinet.

  • this is music dammit!

  • Dat Sax.

  • Wait nvm she is singing. So it is not instrumental? Nice

  • @NoaOno lol using the voice doesnt mean not instrumentals, depends the way you use it... the voice is an instrument you know.. zappa said he was using his as an instrument too

  • @DoumdaDoum Let's not question a word that is in the dictionary. Instrumental means no vocals.

  • @NoaOno Instrumental means of key importance i.e. the tactic was instrumental to our success. Saying a song is instrumental is a reference to that, not in the sense that it's composed of only instruments (even though so many people assume that cause it has the word instrument in it) but rather it only contains the necessary melodic qualities for it to be considered music; as in no lyrics. Bear in mind vocals and lyrics are two separate things...basically the voice is indeed an instrument.

  • And there is Kelela something randomly standing on the stage

  • Album please.

  • @suckmynose000 this album leaked.

  • @suckmynose000 it is out today

  • @Beijejr T.R.A.M. (Terrazas Reyes Abasi Moore) so yes that's Eric Moore from Suicidal Tendencies

  • is that eric moore?

  • OKAY tosin was playing this in one of his riff writing videos ...SO SICCCKKK

  • adrien is a fucking beast

  • Holy crap. Tosin does some crazy stuff but I never saw this coming. Absolutely amazing song. I'm a guy who plays metal, and this just taught me a whole new thing about groove and taste. NEVER STOP MAKING MUSIC lol.

  • The reason they don't have bass but just stay with 8string

Is cause it's got a sufferer sound. It's not bad to sound hollow sometimes. It's more unique. And probablyan accident.

  • Thats crazy if Thomas Pridgen would have had time for this... band. It would had been called T.R.A.P. far out man....

  • I need a fucking album

  • whats this song called im going craazy!!!!!

  • Panzerballet is a way better group than this, if anyone is interested....agreed?

  • @eflegen

    Completely different style. Disagree.

  • im transcribing this for my band at school, does anyone know the link to a clearer version?

  • Still haven't made up my mind on that drummer guy. He doesn't seem like the rest of them.

  • Is Tosin playing an Agile or something?

  • Abasi's in 2 bands and neither of them have a bassist. WTF?

  • @Puertoricansniper when you have 8 strings you don't need a bassist :P

  • @nightshot999 But 8 strings can't deliver the same low end a bass can. The sound's not as full and that's why a lot of AAL live shows sound hollow. D: Maybe they just have a hatred of bass players. Lol

  • @Puertoricansniper haha yeah very true, i guess they do!

  • @Puertoricansniper Live they have a pre-recorded bass playing behind them (along with the synth section) if it sounds hollow, blame your venue. Every time I see them, the bass overpowers everything, which sucks because you can hardly hear the real players.

  • Eric Moore!

  • How in the Hell? they somehow managed to go back in time and kidnap a young Michell Obama so that she could live an alternative life where she makes love to Tosin every night after they've made sweet music....yo go girl !!!

  • Yeah. I need her in my life. Like this song.

  • Where is that synth like sound coming from, I don't see a keyboard. Is it Javier?

  • @CleverNameHere81 i think its a loop of tosins guitar

  • @CleverNameHere81 It's coming from his effect pedal board.

  • finally! i saw a video os tosin practising this song, but it wasnt out yet.

  • @jobkuizenga no you saw the video of when he was literally writing this song.

  • @jobkuizenga whatever, still awesome its a song now

  • wish the guitar volumes were louder!

  • LOLOLOL @3:29 the drummer just fucking destroyed that cymbal

  • i love this

only thing i would change is sometimes the drums, he's too agressive he should play with more dynamity.

  • is that a 12 string that tosin is playing on?

  • @oviefofah No, 8 string.

  • i cried when i heard this.

  • Oh God. I laughed so hard when the drums came in! xD

  • Oh, and this is NOT jazz singing at all, for those confused. Jazz singing = Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday. Or for the more modern Jazz sound, Gretchen Parlato.

  • Really good stuff, but I expected a bit more, especially from Tosin since he actually went to school for music for a little while. Here's my pros and cons:

+ Sax is always a plus.

    + Great group

+ Love the use of vocals

    + Guitar work is awesome.

    - Drummer is playing too loud to be playing with a sax, even if he's playing through a mic

    - Sax lines are a bit awkward with the time signatures, really stop-and-go kind of stuff.

Still good stuff, and I'm digging it.

  • DAT PROGRESSION

  • Volta as Suicidal Leaders ;)

  • Anyone else feel alot less important?

  • I dont get "jazz singers" lol she does hardly anything.

  • @DownSouthable She's adding ambience. That's it. This isn't "jazz singing". Jazz singing could be anything, since jazz is just an improvisational genre of music, nothing more.

  • @Periphery830 Yea but if they would let her do more it would be alot better.

  • @DownSouthable In another band, I would agree, I think she's incredible, but this is meant to be an instrumental band. Obviously they wanted an extra layer that wasn't computer effects, and they picked her and she willingly wanted to do this. I would love for her to do more.... in another band or a solo project.

  • @Periphery830 the vocals kinda remind me of child song by cinematic orchestra.

  • @Periphery830 No im saying she should do more of what shes does in their songs!

  • @DownSouthable oh lol now that i can agree with

  • odd time sigz...wow

  • Holy shit this music is absolutely amazing.....

  • I hope the vocalist has a bigger role on the record. Could make for some really breakthrough music.

  • @2knbmTA Tosin has played with a bass player in his last band reflux with a guy named evan brewer and he is also currently on tour him. Tonight Animals As Leaders is in San Diego and I'm going to the show.

  • why doesnt tosin play with bass players??

  • IN LOVE WITH THIS GROUP

  • is that a custom ibanez 8string tosin´s playin? o.O

  • @whothefuckisbob93 yeah Ibanez LACS

  • @metalmike04 thanks man, could not really see it right ^^...but after all tosin´s actually supposed to play ibanez since he´s endorsed by them, isn´t he?...this guy´s so awesome =)

  • @whothefuckisbob93 yeah no prob man tosin is awesome too, haha as a guitar player and bass clarinet player im love to see this band exist!

  • If the 1920's had 8strings, it would probably sound like that...

  • after listening to this a few more times now over the last days, I start to appreciate it more and more... but the vocalist should get more room to perform... she is too much in the background... don't get me wrong, I'm not pledging her do to a one (wo)man show; everybody should be equal within the band, and that's not the case right know; she's too much in the background for this...

  • @HispanicImpression i know what you mean man, but i guess that they don´t want her to be a singer but to set just some little accents within this amazing soundscape

  • @whothefuckisbob93 Yeah, probably, and the meaning of the band name confirms your assumption. But you know what ? I'm gettin' more and more into TRAM; at first I was disappointed, but now I consider what they do to be pretty similar to Tool and the Mars Volta; just as these both bands all of TRAMS instruments seem to perfectly melt into a huge, monstrous super instrument exploring sounds which noone ever explored before ! :D

They just should keep what they're doing;can't wait for their debut album

  • @HispanicImpression exactly! i listened to a few songs of the mars volta, but i did not get into them pretty much, i really appreciate what they´re doing, but somehow the singer disturbs me

but you´re just right: they explore sounds that hadn´t been there before...and somehow i like everything that tosin creates.he does things that others couldn´t do, he blends styles, and instrumental arrangements to new epic stuff, i like bands that try new things...and i will so buy this thing when its out!

  • i love this so much, been playing it all day...

    but djent? really?

tosin may be a djent god in Animals as Leaders but I wouldn't class this as djent.

It doesn't involve djent tone or any progressive metal influences from what i hear.

more like... djazz HAD TO BE SAID!

  • Animals of Volta :B

  • @oskarvazkez

Leaders of Mars :D:D:D To those who don't get it. --> The Mars Volta Saxophonist and Animals as Leaders.

  • @SolidGoldEliteODST

    and suicidal tendencies drummer

  • @mensendike suicidal leaders of mars lol

  • sexy brilliant glorious ♥

  • So soulful and funky!

  • Is it me or do drummers seem to shed hardcore/metal shells and become jazz/prog aficionados when paired with Tosin Abasi?!

  • Zekk is lame.

  • It's Just clicked, This sounds very similar to Jaga Jazzist, like really similar. Awesome! When's the Album out!!!

  • whens the album

  • I bet Tosin banged that hot vocalist chick many times!

  • Personally, I wish there was more guitar in this!!! Too much Saxophone for me

  • this is amazing

  • NICE! i love it... what a combination!

  • i really want to hear this with acceptable sound quality

  • i'm not really feeling this. it's just not doing it for me , it's kind of pretentious. yeah, it has a saxaphone (which is what got me interested in the first place) but it's part is repetitive and not very creative, it bores me. i never thought i'd say this about anything of tosin's!

  • @0marbongo Yeah, me as well. My 1st contact with the band, and I also felt annoyed by the competetive part; it is complex, but it doesn't really build up tention and it's not that complex that you have the feeling that it totally twists your brain like in some King Crimson songs... I'm going to check out some other songs of them, before judging, but so far it's "okay", if you ask me...

  • why the fuck isnt this shit out there!!!

  • @plcrespo69

    Comes out next Tuesday.

  • @seabeast999 no it doesn't. they would've released albumart or a sample by now. they've pushed it back again.

  • Im sure someone already said this, but that girl "singing" is just fucking useless. She serves no real purpose but to annoy and distract from the music. Rant over.

  • As Rob said. They massage the ear pussy.
