I got thrown out of the Deshcutes Brewery in Bend for yelling during the runback. The sweet part was the only other person watching the game in the place was a smack talking Dawg fan.
I was ten years old when this happen and I still remember crying tears of joy that day, Oregon is where they are today because of this play. Sure it was unexpected, and awesome for Duck fans but there have been far more 'improbable' finishes before and since. I think the only time that phrase has been used correctly would be when it was used by the Cal announcer when the Band was on the field.
The irony of that quote is that he was referring to the long track record of the Ducks not being able to make plays at crunch time to pull out wins.

Husky fans understand 2 things. 1). This was the biggest win in Oregon history as far as building of the program goes. It is not the biggest win in a big game, or even the biggest regular season win as far as how good the team was that we beat. It isn't about that.
We beat some Husky teams that were better than the 94 team. That is not the point.

All I keep seeing while looking at the various "the pick" clips on this website are countless duck fans saying that this is hands down their biggest win in school history. When UW looks for their biggest win in school history, they have multiple Rose Bowls, an Orange Bowl, a national championship clinching win to choose from. Oregon on the other hand? A regular season home game against UW. Enough said.

@joshwa2710 it wasn't just that we won that game. That play jump-started the Oregon football program. Oregon went from being lucky to get a winning season to 10 win seasons and Pac-Ten championships. Without that pick i can almost guarantee you Oregon would not be playing in the National Championship this year.

That now means that UO just needs to beat UW 18 more times in a row to even the all time series. I must admit, it's getting far too close for comfort. The 9 Rose Bowl appearances, 6 Rose Bowl wins and 1 (some say 2 if you count 1960) National Championships that separate the 2 programs is closer than I'd like too, but maybe Washington will get it together soon.

I was ten years old when this happen and I still remember crying tears of joy that day, Oregon is where they are today because of this play. It's amazing how that play changed the entire course of Oregon football history, this Saturday will be the 15th anniversary. Amazing to see what has changed. I love my Ducks!!!

Good play and this coming from a Beaver Undergrad Husky Grad. I just think the 'most improbable finish ever' is a bit over the top. Sure it was unexpected, and awesome for Duck fans but there have been far more 'improbable' finishes before and since. I think the only time that phrase has been used correctly would be when it was used by the Cal announcer when the Band was on the field.

The irony of that quote is that he was referring to the long track record of the Ducks not being able to make plays at crunch time to pull out wins.
With a couple notable exceptions Brooks teams had a trend of coming out strong in the first half against good teams. But then the opposing team would adjust at half time, take over the game, and the Ducks couldn't respond. Thats why this game is such a watershed moment for the program.
In the context of that history, the play was improbable

as a note to nduchene1 you seem to have a problem with Oregon. I've seen you comment negatively on a few Oregon videos, and I'm just curious as to why you feel you have to drag a great school through the mud?

My wife actually went there and I spent quite a bit of time in Eugene, but I have a problem with the classless Oregon fans more than Oregon football. The program was non-existent prior to this play and they act like it's Washington's fault (no I didn't go there). Hating on Washington won't change the fact that the Huskies basically dominated UO for 100 years. Yes it's your time, but try to be a gracious winner and show some class. You do represent the PNW, after all.
