I had the same problems with 17670s. I get the impression that surefire is not fully drilling their tubes in order for them not to fit. I bored mine out with some sand paper on a stick using a drill press. From what I understand the new L4s don't regulate 17670s well.
@knguye11 Sorry but I don't have any of those but if I did I would try it so you could know. I am unsure about how much a replacement would be for those if something did go wrong. But so far what i found is IF IT IS LED it should be able to handle it. If its incandescent you will blow it as soon as you turn it on.

I have others 1 and 2 cells SF lights that I would like to use RCR123, but not sure if it OK. Such L1, LX2, U2, A2L, M2 w/ LED drop-in.

@knguye11 Np man I am still using the RCR123's in my L4 I have had no problems so far.
