  • Quality upload here and great camera work.

  • i feel obliged to weigh in here mostly because im actually in this video. this is actually more chaotic than battles tended to be during the early 19th century. As for the history the war probably never should have happened. Because of the delay of travel, the ship apologizing for the British impressment of sailors (the cited cause of the war) likely passed the American ship carrying the declaration of war. the war ended in a stalemate. neither side was really victorious.

  • I thought those battles back then were alot more...chaotic but then again I've never seem a reenactment

  • I hate that there's a loudspeaker sports announcer. It really takes away from what would otherwise feel like a trip back through time.

During the 19th century the popular image of the war in the United States was of an American victory, and in Canada, of a Canadian victory. Each young country saw her self-perceived victory as an important foundation of her growing nationhood. The British, on the other hand, who had been preoccupied by Napoleon's challenge in Europe, paid little attention to what was to them a peripheral and secondary dispute

  • @MegaTheBrit was after the peace treaty had been signed, if we were still at war and have kept fighting would have seen america in ruins, it was not their military that did anything to win the war it was the fact that we were fighting napoleon at the time, wellington was about to be stationed in america when napoleon escaped from elba, the yanks have never gone to war with the brits on their own, they simply could not do it, even american historians admit that

  • @OW41N Wow you are a dumb ass. And show that you know shit. 98% try 48%. The Americans won more battles then the British and killed the Royal Navy. Like at the battle of Lake Erie. And killed British Indian allies which helped them move west. And Burning Washington dumbass does mean the war was over the other then pissed the Americans off American Burned down York. And two the Americans didn't attack Canada to take it over but to draw the British out to fight.

  • @OW41N And i'm Canadian dip shit . OH and even the last Battle in Canada went to the Americans. We lost this War dip shit

  • @MrShoebox77 lmfao you make me laugh so much :) you need to study more, and i don't mean on wikipedia i mean pick up several books and read them, at best this war was a stalemate, america looked for peace, they got it because napoleon had escaped from elba, napoleon was the real threat of that time not america, america's goals were to take canada, they failed and thus lost the war

  • @OW41N Dumb Dumb as a Canadian if you knew how to read it was to draw out British troops. And yes some border states wanted land in Canada but wasn't the Americans goal. Any History book will say so as you claim to have read one. And the British even paid the Americans $300,000 to take a deal and gave up fishing right in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. But if you also Claim the war was a draw then why claim victory just makes you look like a moron. Just look up Robert Jekinson.

  • @MrShoebox77 You don't even know our own countries history - you sir are a disgrace!

  • @OW41N And the British also tried to invade America they failed and thus lost the war 1812 goes to America.

  • @MrShoebox77 You're a retard, the invasion was successful and the capital was sacked no matter what bullshit they the war didn't go into Americas favour - infact by a military perspective it was a British victory, here in the REST of the world when they talk about 1812 it is always either a British victory or a draw but never in the favor of the Americans - even American reenactments admit it so shut your mouth! Also the British didn't lose their fishing rights! Americans didn't have it for long

  • @RazorCell7 Wow what a retard in you read the treat ofd Ghent it said the US gainied fishing right. And The British tried to stop America movment in to west in which case they own today retard. And killed British Indian allies. The US won this bottomline.

  • @MrShoebox77 You don't even know our own countries history - you sir are a disgrace! "As a Canadian... blah blah blah" first of all dipshit it doesn't matter what country you are from that doesn't determine the knowledge you might or might not have. Second off all if it is taught we won more battles both skrimishes and decisive victories then the Americans did! Not to mention we BURNT down their CAPITAL (I don't know if you know this but that actually means alot in warfare!)

  • Comment removed

  • @RazorCell7 Really because the battle count is 49 American and 37 British. And dipshit they burned down York (Torontro) Got please learn the subject before you comment.

  • @MrShoebox77 You're a completel utter tool and again you are proving how much of an idiot you are! I can see you got that off of wikipedia or some bullshit site cause if you really think only 49 Americans died then you are sadly mistaken. York was only a town you can't compare the fucking capitial of a country to a small town in lower Canada. The whole reason we burnt down the white house and pilaged everything because of the atrocious you did at York! An eye for an eye! We won this war dipshit!

  • @MegaTheBrit oh god, have you researched these periods? i can respect your a royal marine but that doesnt make you a historian, america lost 98% of the battles in 1812, their goal was to invade canada and take it from us which failed, we then invaded and tokk all the cities north and west of detroit with relative ease, then we beat the americans outside of washington and burned it to the ground including the whitehouse, the battle that the americans claim to have won the war which

  • @OW41N Wow you are a dumb ass The US won more battles then the british please read a historyy And on the royal Navy don't get me started on how the US killed them. Like at the Battle of Lake Erie. And two "the yanks have never gone to war with the brits on their own, they simply could not do it, even american historians admit that" Wow the French didn't even fire one shot in North America. And two dumb ass the American attack on Canada wasn't to take it up to draw up British troops and it worked

  • @OW41N Wow you are a dumb ass. And show that you know shit. 98% try 48%. The Americans won more battles then the British and killed the Royal Navy. Like at the battle of Lake Erie. • The British aren't that fat, nor would they have been anything like that during the war of 1812, definitely American stand-ins :)

  • @England12321 Yeah you're right they would have had bad teeth.

  • @TheIceman567 I didn't say anything about teeth, fool... Americans have horrible, rotten teeth! Like a row of bombed houses! Plus fat arse reenactors

  • @England12321 Well at least they have good teeth unlike toothless British actors who can't he nothing solid. Jerk face.

  • @TheIceman567 lmfao our teeth are fine :P but you guys cant even run you have to roll everywhere

  • @OW41N Look don't be mad at me because we have good teeth to put good good in our mouths.

  • @TheIceman567 lol its the english your talking about :P my country have nothing to do with the whole bad teeth thing that you americans seem to think they have, and you really need to learn to spell, don't you mean good food?, actually if you had a braincell in that hollow head of yours you would know that most of the food the average american eats is not good food, i advise you read a book called the paleo diet, all will be explained there

  • @OW41N yes, i misspelled but i guess only a nerd would see that one. I've been to the UK myself you people are big as well my friend. God you're dumb.

  • So the largest recreation in the U.S. takes place at the site of one of the most insignificant battles?

  • hahaha, I would like to play the role of dead / killed man... ;-) Laying some hours around while the other boys are playing...

  • where do you buy the uniforms?

  • @Zekkandgrant13 C&D Jarnagin (on the web) shows American 1812 uniforms and accessories. Possibly can do British thru special order....

  • The British side has an interesting gathering of Crown forces and their allies.

  • How doest it gets determined when or where you die ?

is this random or can you decide for yourself when you want to die :p

do the music people ever get killed ?

    very wierd :p

thx for sharing this vid , very nice

  • @AmparitoVic I think the re-enactors get a certain amount of ammo and when you run out of ammo the next time your opponent shooting at your units position, you die.

  • @AmparitoVic im a reenactor, and you just kinda die when ever you want, most of us will wait till we are in the shade or if were to hot and tired, and when you run out of rounds you can die. and just cause your a musician dosnt mean you cant die! everyone can die! you dont see people really dieing right away cause battles can last over a hour and its along time to just lay around. but it normally just when ever your ready. best part is you can be all dramatic cuz you were rarely killed instantly

  • Were gonna go there on Saturday. My mom's aunt is going to be there too.

  • I was there that saturday- the reenactments are brilliant every time. I remember in the afternoon the reenactment saw a brilliantly done cavalry charge by the US dragoons on the 95th Rifles. Looking forward to seeing it again this Saturday with a larger line of crown forces.

  • WOW!!!!!! Very impressive!

  • wow ok these guys neeed to do some practice volleys and drill...

  • I dont know who the narrator of the battle is, but why does he sound like Deputy Droopalong or Droopy Dog?

  • I dont know that I'd say this is the largest 1812 re-enactment of its kind...The siege event at fort Erie in August fields far more men than this one seems to. Though I have to say, there are some awesome American volleys in this video!

  • As a participant of those battles, I must say, it doesn't do much for me. For us to go out there, stand, or in the case of our Native forces, crouch and shoot at each other, I'm glad that our camp has begun taking part in the battles with the river pirates.

  • @ongawesgone I can relate to what you're saying very well, I've been with the British for about ten years on the field and depending on which event you go to, they really do get kind of boring (especially if you're one of the soldiers standing in line) since joining a British Ranger unit, things have been way better. lots of movement, firing lying down etc. I suppose it's all a matter of where you go

  • well considering I myself have participated, I find it a little upsetting that you find this type of "activity", not worth your time. It could discourage others from wanting to be a part of something that most hold dear. Sorry my friend, but I see nothing wrong, with this part of the event. It could use some fine tunning, but this is not the way to get that accomplished. Mayeb taking a postive role would be a betterment than a negative one.

  • @mafia1750:

I won't say that I don't have fun at the event, but since the redoubts have been removed for farming, we, as "woodland" people need trees or something to keep from getting "killed". So, when we "take" the field, it feels kind of moronic, given that all of us are within hundreds of feet of each other. My positive outlook has become participation in the battles with the river pyrates. We have the river and the opposite shoreline to incorporate.
