  • Frigidaire used to be made in the USA. There is a big 4 story building in san antonio texas that takes up a whole city block....that's where they used to be made. That was back in the good ol days. Ti still says Frigidaire on the side of it. Great big empty building. Put up back in the 40's I'd guess. Nobody ever there. Just a couple of cars and a truck. Must be some of the Frigidaire family. Some, like me, wonder why everything is made in china nowadays.

  • Do these units work well? I ordered the 5,000 BTU model for use in my small room. I live in the deep south so winters here are mild; we only need heat for a few months, if that.

I do have central a/c as well but I live with people who have health problems and my room is always 3-6'F hotter than the rest of the house. Having to work on computer hardware while it's 78-82'F is no fun at all.

  • @GreenDorkMonster like in the room? and not in the window? Every AC in the world makes condensation and it needs to drain to outside.

  • these are really good lol i had one on my floor in winter and i ran it to heat up the room cause my heater takes alot more power lol like its a 1000watt in my room and this only takes 550 at least mine does and it doesnt really drip water just dont continuously leave it on

  • does this leak water, i got one today and i wa wondering does it leak, kus ima have it in my room .

  • @GreenDorkMonster When it's real humid out it may drip out of the overflow, but these units use a fan that slings water on the coil to evaporate it before it can drip out.

  • @gusherb94 i never knew that it draws same amount of energy on high and low fan settings. Thanks for this informative demo video. Please keep them comming.

  • why does it draw increasing numbers of watts over time?

  • @theparodyworks Hmm...umm no, I won't be doing that. I'm not the one who can't figure out how to recycle water by drinking it. Moron.

  • @theparodyworks Umm drink the water as it comes into your room, then deposit it into the toilet as harmless pee after your body processes it? Freaking idiot.

  • I love window units!

  • what brand of campressor dose it have in it?

  • @xctome I subscribed to HVACguy96 and only pussys block.

  • @xctome mostly they use LG compressors that are made in China. I have one unit that uses LG compressor.

  • id love to replace my old samsung with dat

  • that thing is big to be a 6,000 btu unit

  • @infinity3jif In person it's actually pretty small, same size as a 5000 BTU A/C

  • @theparodyworks Only reason it would be leaking condensate into your room would be cause it's pitched inward towards the room. All window A/C's need to pitch outwards, otherwise your gonna have the results your getting.

  • what if the filler panel are to short? help please I just bought a new frigidaire fra106ct1. I just got it today like 2 hours and I am hopeless with the filler panel why is it so short so the air can go out and bugs came in?

  • hey i have a 5000 btu haire window ac. so far its been a great unit, i payed 98$ for it. its really quiet, does anyone here have any experiance with that unit?

  • I need to replace my thermostat on my sears window unit .Its a 220.Can anybody help?

  • hey i hav the same a/c and it doesint cool , any ideas on what 2 do?

  • Thats like what they have in hotels

  • Lol my old 15 year old A/C is 12000BTU and uses 12 amps so i guess each 1000 BTu goes up its 1 amp right?

  • Well that depends on the EER, older lower EER window A/C's would tend to be like that but newer units use alot less energy compared to the cooling capacity. I just bought a GE 12,000 BTU Energy star window A/C and it's rated at 10 amps vs 12.

  • @gusherb94 well the eer must be horrible cause i have 2 computers and maybe a couple lights like 2 and just the Air Conditioner and it Blows a 15 Amp Fuse soooo yeah im guessing it draws like 12-13 amps cause the comps and lights don't take up that many amps so yeah cause i can turn it on at night when all the 2 comps and the 2 lights are off and it won't blow the fuse. oh also i have a frigidaire 5,000BTU A/C it's maybe 2-3 years old but 9.7 eer how many amps does this use? thanks

  • @Mooseguy15 That 12,000 BTU A/C definitely has to be sucking 12 amps. those computers are just enough to put things over the edge and trip the breaker. Your Frigidaire 5,000 BTU unit should be rated to draw 4-5 amps. You can find that out by looking on the nameplate.

  • @gusherb94 Yeah says exacly 5.2 Amps and bout 550 watts

  • @gusherb94 well i also ran the 5,000btu A/C today just to see if it would blow the fuse with everything else on and it didn't so i guess im ok then ill put the 12,000 In the patio door in living room since there is only a Ps3 in the living room it will not blow the 15 amp fuse hopefully. cause this apartment is really old so when they wired it they thought it was smart to connect my room (Master Br) to the small BR And the bathroom and thats 3 rooms on a freaking 15 amp (FUSE) lol that how old

  • @gusherb94 infact the 12,000BTU Air Conditioner is soo old that it's a magnasonic a brand that i dont even think exists ne more ill make a vid and post it on my Channel

  • I remember back in the 1980s, I would go to my grandparents house and they had NO central heat/air. Instead they had a window air conditioner in their living room window, and it cooled most of their house! I remember it was freezing at times when I would go over there. I thought window ac/s only cooled one room?

  • very very o que mijito... pal medico por esa

  • I had a LG 6500 BTU and it was soooo loud.

    Could not stand it.

Can you recommend a quiet window AC?

  • Sadly to say the LG 6500 BTU unit in my experience is one of the quieter units of that cooling capacity. I really don't think there are any truly quiet window A/C's below 8000 BTU in cooling capacity, if you buy say an LG 10,000 BTU window A/C it will be worlds quieter than that 6500 BTU unit you had. What room would this new unit be used in?

  • Hi friend

Are you Serious????? A 10,000 BTU LG would be quieter?

This does not make any sense. How could it be worlds quieter when the compressor is bigger? Isn't the bigger an AC the louder it is?

Hence why all Large Split over 48k BTU are split?

I am now really excited since you told me a $10,000 BTU will be so quiet. How can this be true?

  • Yes I'm serious! LOL. It truly is far quieter, I personally have a 6500 BTU LG and a 10,000 BTU LG. Yes it really is quieter, the 10,000 BTU model. In this case it's all in the design of the 2 units, the larger one has more sound dampening plastic in it and the compressor operates alot smoother, plus the fan is designed to be more quiet as well. the 10,000 BTU model you cannot hear the compressor running whatsoever even over the very quiet blower.

  • WOOOOOOOW

can you make a video of the 10,000 BTU if you get the chance? I wanna hear how that sounds over the camera.

I saw some sexy SHARP 10,000 BTU. Now I can get a 12,000 BTU Split AC installed for $600 US

And a window Unit my dad can install for free and cost of the window unit would be $300 US

Is it possible for my dad to install a Split himself? Do you need to vaccum the lines or something? I can't believe a 10k BTU unit can be so much quieter. 6500 drives me crazy LOL

  • @gusherb94 It is true 10,000 BTU LG A/C is wayyyy quieter than the 6000BTU frigidaire A/C even wayyy more quiet than the Frigidaire 10,000 BTU A/C!

  • The wattage rating on the label of your air conditioner is the most wattage it will draw and usually right at compressor startup. So your kilowatt meter is an excellent tool to figure out what your actually using.

  • there is a samsung model that is very well made and inexpensive. i thnk its 5000 btus

  • Great video. I just bought this air con off of amazon. I live with my granma in palm springs and she doesn't like turning the air con on... So basically I am in hell until this arrives.

    :)

  • Well if you get the unit undamaged from shipping you should be quite satisfied with it is not too loud but not the quietest I've heard either it's tolerable to sleep with.

  • @CaliDude1984

I hate going to someones house that is cold natured! It's always so hot/stuffy I don't see how the hell they stand it with no air conditioning.

  • I bought one a Conns App. for 90$! Its 4 Amps, 550 Watts. Its an LG Goldstar 5,000 BTU. My gerage im usally in it so this unit cools a 20 by 25 ft space! i wuz shocked. I put it in my 10 by 15 bedroom now and it got to 61!!! I loove it!

  • ......I just bought a similar unit at Lowes...after following all trouble shooting instructions,it still will not cool a 12x20 room....conclussion: total peice of China crap! Anyone know of a DECENT American made unit?

  • Why do you have this unit even though you have central air?

  • For one I like playing with window A/Cs and the main reason is cuz we also have an old apartment bldg that uses window A/Cs.

  • You have two houses? BTW that's a nice unit.

  • I wish! No the building is where my Mom's store is and there's two apartments above, one of them is my Mom's for her business use and the second one my Dad rents...
